Chapter 784 The Gossip Guru
Chapter 784 The Gossip Guru
In the hospital ward, a Latina nurse helped Bruce pack his luggage, looking at him with reluctance, as if she didn't want him to leave.
The door opened, and Martin came in, stuffing a stack of documents into his bag by the door, saying, "The discharge papers are done."
Bruce put on his coat and went to get his suitcase.
The Latina nurse took the opportunity to pull out a piece of paper, slipped it into Bruce's pocket, and whispered, "My contact information."
Martin couldn't help but glance at the nurse again; she had very wide hips and an exceptionally pert bottom, a typical hot Latina style.
Bruce pretended nothing had happened, pulled his suitcase towards the door, and urged Martin, "Come on, what are you doing here?"
Martin picked up a bag and followed.
Bruce had just opened the ward door when he saw a woman standing opposite him.
This woman has shoulder-length blonde hair, exquisite makeup, and a tall, slender figure; she would be considered very beautiful even in Hollywood.
The only drawback is that the curves are slightly flat.
"Hi, Martin." Jody greeted Martin first, then looked at Bruce: "You didn't even call me when you were discharged from the hospital."
Bruce said, "It's nothing, you're busy with work."
Jody stepped forward and took the suitcase from Bruce's hands: "Your injury isn't fully healed yet, so don't carry heavy things."
Upon hearing this, Martin couldn't help but scratch his head.
Jody pulled the suitcase, Martin carried the bag, and Bruce went downstairs empty-handed.
Upon reaching the underground parking lot, Jody stopped and said, "Martin, I'd like Old Brooks to stay with me for a few days until he's almost fully recovered, then he can work for you again."
Martin wouldn't make this decision for Bruce.
Bruce replied in the same tone, "My injury is healed, I don't need you to take care of me."
Jody's gaze suddenly shifted to Martin.
Martin assumed Jody wanted him to persuade Bruce, so he simply pretended not to see it.
But Bruce understood what Jody meant and couldn't help but cough.
Jody spoke softly, "Can't I take care of you for one night?"
Martin then realized that there seemed to be a third wheel here, and tossed the bag to Bruce, saying, "I have to go."
Bruce could only get into Jody's car.
Jody started the car only after Martin drove out of the underground parking lot in a brand new Escalade.
Bruce stretched his arms slightly: "It's settled then, I'll stay at your place for one night."
Jody gave a strange smile: "Old Brooks, I'll definitely take good care of you."
Bruce sensed something was wrong: "I'm injured!"
"You don't have to exert any effort, you don't have to move." Jody drove away. "My recent workouts have mainly consisted of squats."
Bruce glanced across the driver's seat and said, "I don't see any effect."
Jody said angrily, "This thing is too big, what's the point of looking good about it!"
Bruce told the truth: "The pelvis doesn't hurt."
Jody was so angry she didn't want to talk anymore; so many people envied her great figure!
…………
After leaving the hospital parking lot, Martin received a call from Thomas and went directly to the WMA headquarters in Century City.
Upon entering Thomas's office, besides Thomas, there was also a woman with long, straight black hair.
"Hi Martin, I'm Clara." The red, form-fitting dress accentuated Clara's figure, her curves so voluptuous they seemed ready to explode at any moment: "I came to Los Angeles immediately after signing with WMA."
Martin nodded slightly, shook her hand, and said politely, "Welcome to Los Angeles."
Thomas's former assistant, Natasha, interjected, "I'm Clara's agent now."
Martin looked at Clara: "Can you sing and dance?"
"I'm good at singing and dancing, which are basic skills for artists over there." After Clara signed with WMA, she felt like she had entered paradise, because compared to the agency contracts there, the situation here was far more relaxed than that.
For the first contract, the agency can only sign for one year, and the agent's commission cannot exceed 10%.
This was something she never dared to imagine before.
Martin said to Natasha, "Take her to the Disney studio tomorrow morning. The La La Land crew is looking for a casting director. They need a few minority actors who are good at singing and dancing."
"Okay, we'll head over first thing tomorrow morning." Natasha winked at Clara. "We're off now."
Clara wasn't a newcomer to the entertainment industry. Although she still had something to say, she held back and followed Natasha out of the office.
Natasha checked the time and said, "I still have a lot to do today. Where do you live? Do you need to rent a place? Also, go for a medical checkup."
Clara had studied in the US before and speaks fluent English: "I've already rented a place. Shall we go for a medical check-up first?"
This kind of thing is very common in the entertainment industry there.
In the office, Martin and Thomas chatted briefly about the Joker project.
Both were mentally prepared that, given Warner Bros.' top-notch management team, they might encounter some setbacks.
A dozen minutes later, Georgia, Cadillac's marketing manager in Los Angeles, entered Thomas's office.
He shook hands with Martin and Thomas, took out the documents, and said, "There are two main things I'm here for. One is to handle the handover of the new cars. Cadillac has provided Martin with three armored vehicles this time, two of which are Escalades and one is the latest flagship sedan. The vehicles have already been sent to Beverly Hills."
Martin has received calls from Lily and Elizabeth; the car is fine and its bulletproof features have been reinforced.
This is also one of the reasons why he did not consider a Tesla endorsement contract; lithium batteries are relatively too easy to explode.
After Thomas carefully reviewed the contract, Martin signed it.
Georgia added, "Another thing, Cadillac wants to buy back the Escalade that was shot..."
"No problem." Martin didn't fuss over such a small matter: "No need to buy it back. The car is currently with LAPD. You can pick it up anytime after they finish sampling."
Georgia said, "Okay, I'll talk to the LAPD and get the car back as soon as possible." He added with a smile, "This is an important marketing tool for high-end vehicles."
First came the collision, then the shooting; the Escalade's armored vehicles have been put to the test in real combat!
Not just Georgia, but the entire Cadillac team felt that signing Martin as a global brand ambassador was absolutely worthwhile.
A $1600 million endorsement fee per year can bring about such results; there are very few in the world.
Cadillac has begun internal discussions about hiring Martin as a lifetime brand ambassador, similar to Coca-Cola.
After Georgia left, Martin also left the office.
On a bench outside the door, Blake Lively, dressed in a very stylish manner, was sitting and scrolling through her phone.
Martin went over and sat down next to her, asking, "What are you doing?"
"I just took a few selfies and I'm about to post them on Twitter," Blake said. She turned her phone over so the screen was facing Martin. "I've got over 500 million followers on both Twitter and Instagram now."
Martin gave her a thumbs up: "You're awesome."
Blake shrugged: "I recently realized something. When I was dating you, everything went very smoothly, and that was when I really became famous. After we broke up, my career stagnated. After Gossip Girl, I didn't have any notable works, and I could only attract attention through gossip and fashion."
Martin joked, "This path is also very promising. You could set up a dedicated social media team, focusing on fashion, fitness, and gossip, and become America's number one gossip guru."
What was said in jest was taken seriously by the listener. Blake blinked and said, "Gossip Guru? That seems like a good idea."
She grabbed Martin's arm and pleaded in a sweet, coquettish voice, "Take a selfie with me, can I borrow your arm for a bit?"
Martin said, "Don't go too far."
Blake turned on his phone's camera, leaned half his body against Martin, tilted his head towards Martin, and gave him a bright smile: "Cheese!"
Martin smiled knowingly.
Blake looked at the photos: "Not pretty enough, let's do it again."
She took four shots before she got a satisfactory one. She quickly uploaded the photo and tweeted it with the caption: "My ex-boyfriend gave me a nickname, 'Gossip Queen.' Should I accept it?"
After Blake finished posting, he said to Martin, "Quickly, retweet this for me."
When Martin reposted it, she also posted it on Instagram.
In just a short while, Blake received a bunch of replies.
She didn't reply, and continued talking to Martin: "Want to come to my place tonight? I live alone now."
Martin shook his head: "I'll be home in a bit."
Blake understood: "His girlfriend is home; she's not away on a business trip."
Martin said, "You know a lot."
"Elizabeth and I were both involved in the Burbank High School incident," Blake said, recalling the events. "She was just a little girl then."
She stretched and said, "I originally thought she would enter the entertainment industry, but I didn't expect her to go into business. She's a major shareholder of the clothing brand The Row and the cosmetics brand The+Mannei."
Martin casually remarked, "Maybe they don't want to be in the same circle as me."
Blake said, "Maybe if you can't see it, you should pretend it doesn't exist." She quickly changed the subject: "Last time in Boston, you said you'd help me find a suitable role."
Martin thought for a moment and said, "Let's wait a bit longer, or you could do a cameo in John Wick 3. There are two heavyweight female characters in it. One of them is a dog lover like Jonathan, and the other is really cool. You might like her. You know Chad, so you can go to Disney Studios and ask him to audition."
"I'll go check it out tomorrow." Blake had Chad's contact information, but she was curious about Martin's: "What are you making me wait for?"
Martin pointed to her iPhone: "Manage your social media accounts well, become a real gossip guru, and when you have enough real followers on social media, finding a suitable female subject shouldn't be difficult to succeed with."
Blake thought about it for a moment and felt it made a lot of sense. He stood up and said, "I'll go talk to my agent and set up a professional team to manage social media as soon as possible."
She had only taken two steps when she quickly returned and whispered in Martin's ear, "How about we go to the restroom?"
Martin pressed her face down and shoved her back: "We'll talk about it another day. Let's get down to business."
