Chapter 15 Completing the Mission

"Huff~ huff~ huff~, Baron, I want to see the Baron!"

Squinting, Li Chuan noticed Dr. Lister approaching with a stun gun and immediately pretended to wake up by exhaling heavily.

If he doesn't wake up soon, he'll get an electric shock and the transformation will be forcibly canceled.

"Hades, tell me quickly, what exactly happened?"

Seeing Li Chuan sit up from the hospital bed in the medical room, Baron Strucker immediately led two of his men in and strode in.

Li Chuan glanced at the description of Hades' appearance and quickly made a judgment in his mind.

The man in the black leather jacket and monocle leading the group is undoubtedly Baron Strucker, the head of this base. The old man next to him with the stun gun is probably Dr. Lister, the second-in-command.

As for the exceptionally strong man on the left behind Baron Strucker, he is the Hydra agent captain in charge of the special operation, and presumably the one who led the team that kidnapped Dr. Smith.

The tall, thin middle-aged man on the right is the commander of the entire base's defense system.

"Excellent, the entire high command of the base has arrived!"

Li Chuan didn't give the Hydra captain and Dr. Lister any time to think. After a brief explanation, he issued the combat orders.

Hydra Captain Blass clearly looked hesitant.

A colleague he'd worked with for almost ten years turned out to be a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the key point is that most of the people in S.H.I.E.L.D. are Hydra agents, right? Didn't Nick Fury never know Hydra existed?

"Do you also want to be a traitor?"

Li Chuan ordered two Hydra agents to stand guard at the entrance to the medical room to prevent the real Baron Strucker's body from being discovered, and then led Dr. Lister toward the base laboratory.

"The base cannot be defended. Download all data, activate the self-destruct mechanism, and prepare to evacuate to another location."

Through interrogating Hades, Li Chuan learned that almost every Hydra base had a self-destruct device, the purpose of which was to destroy all data and incidentally sabotage the attacking enemy should the base be breached.

Only Baron Strucker and Dr. Lister knew the location of the self-destruct button at the Sokovia Hydra base, and had the authority to activate it.

"What about Dr. Smith, whom Lord Garrett wants?"

Dr. Lister asked.

Although he was the second-in-command of the base, Dr. Lister did not get involved in the activities of Hydra's spies and agents. He only took orders from Baron Strucker and focused on research experiments on superhumans.

So when he saw Baron Stryker blow the commander's head off with a single shot, he was stunned, but he didn't think as much as the Hydra captain did.

"Bring it with you."

Li Chuan replied without hesitation.

His main purpose in coming here was to rescue Dr. Smith.

"Yes, sir."

Dr. Lister nodded.

Five minutes later, Li Chuan, along with a bewildered Dr. Smith and Dr. Lister carrying a briefcase, boarded the Stryker helicopter on the top floor and slowly flew away from the base.

"boom!"

A moment later, a deafening roar resounded from below and behind the helicopter. With the self-destruct mechanism activated, the entire base and everyone inside were sent flying into the sky.

"Sir, the base has been destroyed!"

Lister looked at the base engulfed in flames, a hint of reluctance on his face. After spending more than a decade there, it was inevitable that he would develop some feelings for it.

"A real man never looks back at an explosion."

Li Chuan smiled nonchalantly; his attention was entirely focused on the notification sound ringing in his ear.

"Mission to save Smith complete!"

Mission to kill Baron Strucker complete!

Mission to destroy the Hydra base in Sokovia is complete!
