Chapter 56 The S.H.I.E.L.D. Director's Setback

Chapter 56 The S.H.I.E.L.D. Director's Setback

"You seem to really like little Peter?"

After May and Peter left, Wanda sat on the sofa with her arm around Li Chuan's, watching TV and saying...

During our chat, she noticed that Li Chuan asked a lot of questions about Little Peter.

"Oh, it's just that the child seems quite well-behaved and obedient."

Li Chuan nodded.

Through May's words, he learned that Peter's parents in this world seemed to be just ordinary employees who died in a car accident and were nothing special.

However, when no one was looking, he still managed to pluck a hair from Little Peter's head, intending to give it to Dr. Smith and the others for research.

After all, if Peter's parents weren't ordinary workers, Mei, an ordinary person, wouldn't have known.

"Why don't we have one ourselves?"

Wanda suddenly looked up at Li Chuan, which stunned him.

"Isn't it a bit too early?"

He doesn't dislike children, but his current strength isn't enough, and Marvel faces many future challenges. Having a child now might become his weakness.

Furthermore, since Wanda's power originates from the god of dark magic, Sithon, he feared that if Wanda became pregnant, the child might be tampered with.

"That seems true. I don't yet have the confidence to be a good mother."

Upon hearing Li Chuan's words, Wanda thought for a moment and then dropped the subject.

She sensed that Li Chuan seemed to like children, so she couldn't help but mention it. But upon reflection, she realized that with her current abilities, becoming a mother would be incredibly stressful.

After all, she's only twenty years old this year.

Unlike the Wanda in the original story, who was nearly thirty, had lost her closest brother and lover, the current Wanda is still young, has resolved her hatred, and lives happily every day. Naturally, she no longer craves children as much.

Hearing that Wanda didn't really want children, Li Chuan breathed a sigh of relief.

"Oh right, didn't we agree to go to Chinatown? It's about time we set off."

In order to quickly change the subject, Li Chuan hurriedly spoke up.

Wanda checked the time, got up, and jogged towards the room.

"Wait a minute, I need to change my clothes and put on some makeup!"

For Wanda, visiting Chinatown is definitely something she looks forward to.

Born in the impoverished Eastern European country of Sokovia, Wanda, unlike native New Yorkers, is visiting Chinatown for the first time today.

"Go and send this hair back to base for testing."

While Wanda was putting on makeup and changing clothes, Li Chuan handed the hair he had taken from Peter to Li San.

Twenty minutes later, Wanda, with her long hair flowing down her shoulders and wearing a red tracksuit, walked out of the room.

"I originally wanted to wear a dress, but I feel like this would look better. Honey, what do you think of me dressed like this?"

"It looks pretty like this, but it would look even better if you put your hair up in a bun."

Li Chuan looked him up and down before replying seriously.

In his eyes, it doesn't matter whether you wear a dress or sportswear, and there's not much difference between letting your hair down and putting it up.

He knew that if he hesitated even slightly, Wanda might think it was inappropriate to wear sportswear and then go inside for another twenty minutes.

You can't just say yes directly, that would seem perfunctory. You must offer some suggestions, even if you don't know if they'll be useful.

This is the wisdom of a married man!

Sure enough, after hearing Li Chuan's suggestion, Wanda looked in the mirror and nodded in agreement. Then she quickly put her hair up and pulled Li Chuan out the door.

Just as Li Chuan and Wanda were enjoying a pleasant stroll through the bustling Chinatown at night, Tony, who was in his mansion in West Malibu, Los Angeles, was greeted by an uninvited guest.

"Jarvis, turn on the light!"

Tony took off his Iron Man suit, walked from the top floor to the living room, and gave instructions to the mansion's smart butler.

Jarvist's magnetic voice echoed in the room:

"Yes, sir!"

Instantly, all the lights in the living room turned on, and the room went from darkness to light.

Not entirely. At least there's another guy, as black as a braised egg, sitting quietly on the living room sofa.

"Oh...who are you? Who gave you permission to enter my house!"

Startled by the one-eyed stranger in front of him, Tony's tone was naturally not very friendly.

The bald black man, clearly anticipating Tony's reaction, stood up from the sofa and introduced himself:

"Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., one of my agents should have contacted you before, but you refused to see him, so I had no choice but to do this."

"Sorry, but even if you were the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., or even the president, if you broke into my room without permission, I could still shoot you dead!"

Upon hearing Nick Fury introduce himself as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Tony's tone didn't improve; in fact, it worsened.

"I've already had my secretary tell Coulson that I'm not interested in S.H.I.E.L.D., and you shouldn't bother me, even though you're an organization founded by my irresponsible father."

Because of Li Chuan, Tony didn't have a good impression of S.H.I.E.L.D. So when he safely returned to New York and an S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Coulson approached him, he simply chose not to see him.

Upon hearing Tony's answer, Nick Fury immediately frowned:

"How do you know that S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded by your father? You seem to know a lot about us."

According to his records, Tony should have no idea about Howard Stark's relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. Furthermore, judging from Tony's tone, he astutely deduced that the other party seemed to think he knew them very well.

Tony shrugged:

"As the heir to the Stark Industries, isn't it normal for me to know these things?"

"Okay, let's not talk about that for now. I heard you're traveling the world as a superhero wearing armor you made yourself. Are you interested in joining my Avengers project?"

When Nick Fury saw that Tony wouldn't talk, he knew that pressing him further would be useless, so he changed the subject and revealed the real purpose of his visit.

"What are you talking about? What superhero? Are you talking about me? How could I possibly be a superhero?"

Tony looked innocent; only Rhodey knew he was Iron Man, and it hadn't been revealed yet.

Nick Fury took out a tablet and pressed the power button. Inside, there was footage of Tony Stark wearing his Iron Man suit, flying in and out of the mansion's rooftop over the past few days.

Seeing this, Tony thought to himself that Li Chuan had just said it, and then waved his hand with a hint of disgust:

"Okay, I am indeed Iron Man, but I have no interest in your Avengers plan. Please leave my house now, or I'll call the police."

Seeing the firmness in Tony's tone, Nick Fury instantly realized that something must have happened to Tony that he didn't know about, and then frowned:

"Think it over carefully before making a decision. Also, don't expose your identity to the public. It won't do you any good. We will also help you cover it up."
