Chapter 99 The Prison Break Incident (Fifth Update)

The next morning, while having breakfast at the Bull Head Bar, Li Chuan saw another news article in the newspaper.

Last night, the newly elected Muggle senator was attacked and killed by an unknown magical creature, and Magic Street is on the verge of being exposed. Representatives of the International Wizarding Federation appeared in Parliament.

"It's time to max out our favorability!"

Li Chuan tossed the Niffler in the cage next to him into his bag, and then, in a phantom form, appeared opposite the Magical Congress building in the United States.

Unlike the London Ministry of Magic, which allows apparition and has Floo nets and fireplaces, the Magical Congress building in New York is equipped with anti-apparition magic, making it impossible for anyone to apparate inside the Congress building.

Aside from entering and exiting through the main gate, there is no other way to enter or leave.

"Excuse me, is Ms. Goldstein here?"

Inside the wand licensing office of the Magical Congress, Li Chuan asked a wizard who had been sitting at Tina's desk.

The sorcerer looked Li Chuan up and down, then replied irritably:

"Tina Goldstein, that guy's been locked up in the 50th basement level jail for allegedly assaulting a Muggle. What do you need her for?"

"I came here three days ago to apply for a wand license, and I'd like to ask her out for dinner today."

Li Chuan smiled:

"May I ask who you are?"

"I'm Rob Casey, the director of the Wand Licensing Office. You don't need to treat her to dinner; she's probably not coming out. I told her a long time ago not to wander around, but she wouldn't listen."

The male witch was clearly in a bad mood because of Tina's arrest.

He wasn't concerned about Tina, but since Tina had been arrested, there wasn't time to send anyone over immediately, so he had to come and fill in for her first.

After confirming that Tina and Newt had been arrested, Li Chuan stopped talking to the wizard and turned to leave.

"Transformation Technique!"

Leaving the wand license office, he found a corner, formed hand seals, and transformed into Rob, the wand license office director he had just met.

"Good morning, Mr. Cassie, where are you going?"

Inside the magic elevator, the old witch asked Li Chuan a question.

Li Chuan nodded:

"Good morning, Reed. We're heading to the prison on the fiftieth floor."

The old demon didn't notice Li Chuan's transformation technique and naturally pressed the button for the fiftieth floor.

In the magical world, wizards generally have three ways to change their appearance, but most wizards are actually unable to accomplish any of these three things.

The first and simplest method is to brew a high-level potion called a compound decoction.

Taking the compound decoction can transform a person into any age and gender, but it cannot transform a person into an animal, nor can it transform a non-human or half-human being.

However, its preparation is extremely complicated, requiring wizards to have a high level of magical potion talent, using very rare herbs, and requiring a full month of brewing time.

Moreover, the deformation cannot be maintained for too long.

The second type is the Disguise Magus, who is born with the ability to transform into anyone's appearance. However, there are very few wizards with this talent, perhaps only a handful among all wizards in the entire wizarding world.

The third, and most difficult, method is to use shapeshifting to change one's appearance.

This requires a wizard to have an extremely high level of mastery over Transfiguration Charms. As far as that is concerned, only Grindelwald in the entire wizarding world has been able to do so, and even Dumbledore may not be able to.

Therefore, under normal circumstances, wizards rarely have such concerns or precautions.

"Mr. Cassie, is there anything I can help you with?"

At the entrance of the prison on the fiftieth underground floor, two Aurors in charge of guarding the prison looked at Li Chuan and asked him a question.

Li Chuan took out two Galleons and quickly stuffed them into the hands of the two Aurors:

"I want to see Tina Goldstein. She was suddenly arrested, and many documents are missing. Without finding these documents, my subsequent work will be very difficult. Consider these two Galleons as a treat for you two to drink some strong liquor."

The two Aurors exchanged a glance, silently put the Galleons into their pockets, and chuckled:

"Mr. Cassie, you're too kind. As the director, it's no problem for you to go and check on your subordinate. She's in cell number 22 in the East District."

Rob Cassie, as the director of the Wand Licensing Office, is theoretically at the same level as their superior, the director of the Auror Office. It's not a big deal for him to want to visit his subordinate.

Besides, they even gave him two Galleons. You have to understand that in their time, even an Auror's monthly salary was less than fifty Galleons.

They weren't like Tina Goldstein, who was once the best among them and had solved most of the wizarding crimes.

What was the result?

Not only was he dismissed and made a clerk, but now he's a suspect and might spend the rest of his life in prison.

"Indeed, money makes the world go round—that's a timeless truth everywhere!"

After entering the prison, Li Chuan quickly found cell number 22 in the East District and saw Tina, Newt, and Jacob, who were imprisoned there.

"Mr. Rob, what brings you here?"

The moment Tina saw Li Chuan, a look of surprise appeared on her face.

You should know that her boss, Rob Casey, really disliked her, but to my surprise, he was the first person to come and see her after she went to prison. To be honest, I was a little touched.

"It's me, Tom. I came over this morning to ask you to return the little guy to Newt, but I didn't expect you guys to be in jail. What happened?"

Li Chuan deactivated the transformation spell, took out the Niffler from the cage, and returned to his original form.

"Tom!"

When they saw Rob transform into Li Chuan, Tina and Newt's eyes widened in disbelief.

Firstly, they hadn't expected Li Chuan's shapeshifting ability to be so powerful, allowing him to transform into other people. Secondly, they hadn't expected Li Chuan to risk coming to find them after learning they were imprisoned.

After his initial shock, Newt recounted the events of the previous night.

It turns out that after Newt checked into Tina's house yesterday, he secretly took Jacob to find the lost magical creature, the Venomous Horned Beast, under the cover of night.

However, after it was over, Tina caught him red-handed.

Because Niffler was taken away by Li Chuan in advance, the timeline changed, and the situation did not occur where Tina took advantage of Newt and Jacob entering the box to imprison them and take them directly to Congress.

Instead, after Newt's explanation, Tina understood that Newt was simply protecting magical creatures, so she persuaded Newt to go to Congress with her to explain the situation to avoid being misunderstood.

Unfortunately, at that time, Seraphina Picqueli, the president of the Magical Congress, was being reprimanded by the delegation of the Wizarding Union and, in order to save face for the Congress, refused to listen to Tina's explanation.

They directly labeled Newt as a follower of Grindelwald, even blaming him for the murder of the Muggle senator, and even imprisoning Tina as an accomplice.
