Douluo Continent, Huo Yuhao who returned from Sekiro

Chapter 76 Unleashing Potential (45 words per day)

With the help of the Illusionary Eye, Huo Yuhao saw the changes in the demon dog's body. Three seconds had passed since the demon dog's burst of speed, but the fact that the Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Dog was still incredibly fast already said a lot.

The opponent is already fighting desperately, even at the cost of self-harm, in order to overdraw their strength and unleash a sustained, rapid offensive to annihilate them with swift and decisive action.

Huo Yuhao never imagined that he would be forced to this point by a mere five-hundred-year-old soul beast. The pressure he felt from the beast was even greater than that from some three- to five-thousand-year-old soul beasts.

Although those soul beasts were terrifyingly powerful and destructive, Huo Yuhao was able to rely on his agility to evade them and then look for opportunities to launch an attack, gradually finding ways to kill them.

Facing the Azure-Eyed Swift Hound, the situation on the field seemed to have reversed. Huo Yuhao was the one being toyed with. Apart from the first strike Huo Yuhao took advantage of the hound's unpreparedness at the beginning, Huo Yuhao was unable to inflict any real damage on the hound throughout the entire battle.

In the fourth second, the Azure-Eyed Swift Hound leaped onto the tree trunk and stood with Huo Yuhao again. Then, it instantly crossed a distance of more than ten meters and attacked Huo Yuhao. Huo Yuhao deflected the first attack with a single slash, which he swung with all his concentration.

In the fifth second, the Azure-Eyed Swift Hound, which had been deflected by Huo Yuhao's block, suddenly sprang up and charged at Huo Yuhao again. Huo Yuhao swung his grappling hook and flew away, but the next moment he fell from mid-air—the Azure-Eyed Swift Hound shot out a wind blade that directly severed Huo Yuhao's grappling hook.

In the sixth second, Huo Yuhao, who had just landed on the ground, suddenly smashed all the small pieces of exploding crystal he had just taken out onto the ground. The loud noise and blinding light caused the green-eyed swift demon hound to lose sight of Huo Yuhao once again.

In the seventh second, the Azure-Eyed Swift Hound, sensing the slight tremor of the ground through the paw pads under its feet, instantly locked onto Huo Yuhao's location and charged at him. However, due to its blindness, it not only failed to harm Huo Yuhao but was also clearly seen by Huo Yuhao with his Illusionary Eyes, who then severed its already fractured left claw with a single strike.

In the eighth second, the Azure-Eyed Swift Hound regained its sight, and Huo Yuhao's strike that severed the hound's left claw had just been unleashed, leaving its center wide open and in extreme danger.

Huo Yuhao's eyes showed no hesitation, only determination. In his illusory eyes, the fiber bundles within the Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Hound were on the verge of collapse under the stimulation of the deep yellow energy. Retreating now would mean certain death, while fighting with all his might would offer a glimmer of hope.

Huo Yuhao's left arm was bruised and bleeding profusely as he desperately withstood the furious attack of the Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Dog. Through the gruesome wound, one could even see the white bone beneath.

Suffering a sudden and severe blow, Huo Yuhao's brows furrowed in pain, but his movements did not falter in the slightest. He grabbed the neck of the Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Dog with his right hand.

This time, the Azure-Eyed Swift Hound finally lost its previous ghostly speed, and Huo Yuhao's right hand held it firmly in place like a pair of pliers.

Suddenly lunging to the ground, Huo Yuhao used all his strength to pin the still struggling demon dog beneath him, then twisted it sharply.

Click.

The crisp sound of bones breaking rang out. As the blue-eyed swift demon dog's eyes gradually lost their color, Huo Yuhao weakly lay down on the dog's soft fur, breathing heavily.

Between life and death, there is only one crucial second.

Completely unable to look at the yellow spirit ring floating above the other person, Huo Yuhao struggled to take out a pill from his storage spirit tool with his right hand. Due to exhaustion, Huo Yuhao's hand holding the pill was even trembling.

With great effort, Huo Yuhao stuffed the pill into his mouth, and the injury on his left arm quickly healed at a speed visible to the naked eye. After lying on the other person for a few more minutes, feeling that his physical strength was gradually recovering, Huo Yuhao finally got up in a disheveled state.

"That was close."

Watching the Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Dog's vitality gradually fade away, and its once warm body rapidly cooling down after death, Huo Yuhao finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"I was all prepared to take you far away back to Shrek Academy to recuperate, but you brat, do you really think you're still as immortal as you were outside?"

Qian Daoliu's seemingly blaming but actually caring voice rang out, which warmed Huo Yuhao's heart.

"Isn't this just using the Illusionary Eye to see that the opponent is almost at its limit? As long as we withstand the opponent's final blow, this demonic hound definitely won't be able to turn the tide."

Huo Yuhao scratched his head and chuckled, but he actually enjoyed Qian Daoliu's nagging.

Although Huo Yuhao was well aware that he had long lost his immortality and could no longer fight the enemy with the same mindset of mutual destruction as he had in Ashina, the habits he had developed through life and death were not so easy to change.

When you see an opportunity to kill the enemy, you must never hesitate. Otherwise, you will be letting the opportunity slip by and suffer the consequences. Huo Yuhao has experienced being killed by the enemy because of a moment's hesitation far too many times. It is not something that can be changed overnight.

Qian Daoliu wanted to give Huo Yuhao a few more words of advice, but Huo Yuhao heard a strange sound from a dry branch being broken. He turned his head and saw that the Cloud-Piercing Leopard, which had been scared away by the demon dog, had actually sneaked back, hoping to find some leftovers.

After exchanging an awkward glance with Huo Yuhao, the Cloud-Piercing Leopard looked at Huo Yuhao, who was covered in blood and looked visibly weak, and then at the lifeless demon dog lying on the ground. It immediately pounced.

Two tigers fought, one dead and one wounded. Today should be the perfect opportunity for the Cloud-Piercing Leopard to rule this area of several miles! From now on, this area of several miles can only have the Cloud-Piercing Leopard as its apex predator!

Huo Yuhao leaned down slightly, his katana poised for a thrust, and aimed at the red dot on the opponent's abdomen with a single strike.

The instant the Cloud-Piercing Leopard pounced, Huo Yuhao's blade precisely pierced the opponent's abdomen, the blade sinking into the heart, all as smoothly as if the opponent had willingly offered himself up.

"roar--"

The Cloud-Piercing Leopard could only let out a short hiss before collapsing to the ground. Another yellow soul ring appeared, causing Huo Yuhao to raise an eyebrow.

Tsk, he was starting to think that all the hundred-year-old soul beasts in this area were so strong that it was unbelievable. It seems that only the Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Dog is an exception. But with such limited abilities, this guy actually dared to challenge the demon dog at the beginning. It can only be said that his brain is not very good.

"Elder Qian, you previously said that this blue-eyed swift demon hound could at least provide a 'Wind Control' type soul skill. Is the other soul skill the kind of rapid speed it unleashed earlier?"

Huo Yuhao looked at Qian Daoliu with some curiosity. Although the speed of the Azure-Eyed Swift Demon Hound made Huo Yuhao feel extremely troubled, if he could turn the opponent's terrifying ability into his own soul skill, Huo Yuhao felt that the injuries he had suffered before would be worth it.
