Mystery: My Encounters with the Celestial God
Chapter 237 Klein: On such a cold day
Chapter 237 Klein: On such a cold day~ (3k)
"Is the matter settled?"
"Yes, Mr. Ron, I never expected it to go so smoothly."
Hugh grinned like a silly deer, surprised that she would be so warmly received upon entering the church and that she would receive detailed information without having to ask any questions.
This is truly the blessing of the goddess!
"Really? When are we going to submit the mission and meet that curly-haired baboon—no, when are we going to meet that employer?"
The boy smiled and said that he planned to find the "traitor" from South Road in one go.
Whether the other party believed in him or not was not important. What was important was that, starting from the past two months, Ron had identified all the people of the Southern Continent as his potential followers.
This is why we call someone a "traitor".
"Mr. Ron, this matter cannot be completed immediately!"
"I need to submit the request, and the tavern needs to confirm who's coming before they can notify me. It's impossible to finish it tonight at the very least!"
The bounty hunter looked conflicted, gesturing wildly in mid-air as she tried to explain the complicated commission submission process to the demigod in front of her.
"It's okay, I can wait."
With a nonchalant wave, Ron handed Hugh a "business card" made by Habakak, giving him a knowing look before his figure faded and he left Rose Street.
"Mr. Ron, wait for me, I haven't..."
Hugh's words caught in his throat before he could finish. It was already late at night, and a cool night breeze made the bounty hunter tighten his black wool coat.
Thursday afternoon at 6 PM.
A secluded spot outside the Kragg Club.
The detective, carrying a portable camera, successfully took a candid photo of a pretty lady.
He then checked the film inside the camera and, finding nothing amiss, nodded in satisfaction.
"Well, the catching of the adulterer is finally complete, no, to be precise, at least halfway done."
Looking up at the gloomy sky, Sherlock Moriarty smiled in a good mood.
Because his target frequented the Cragg Club, he, a poor detective, was unable to get in deep inside and thus did not obtain any substantial evidence of infidelity.
However, the results so far are already sufficient to satisfy his employer, Mrs. Mary Gale.
After returning to 15 Minsk Street by carriage, Klein carefully preserved the evidence. He glanced at the sky outside again, hesitating whether or not to go out.
Dark, gloomy clouds pressed down from the sky, and the wind howled, making Backlund damp and cold once again.
This chill is different from cold; in Backlund, which is close to October, it always seems to penetrate clothing, making every naive person tremble and their mouths go limp.
"Today is Thursday. Another commission expires in three days. It's a pity. I've been busy with self-rescue issues, attending the Extraordinary People's Gathering, and looking for bodyguards the past two days. I haven't had time for this..."
"Forget it, we haven't raised enough money for the bodyguards yet, I can't be lazy..."
After much deliberation, Klein resisted the urge to light the fireplace and enjoy coffee on a rainy day, deciding instead to go to work regardless of the weather.
Although he now possesses the tainted language spell, he doesn't have much savings, and he'll need a large sum of money to hire a powerful bodyguard.
"This means a new storm has begun, and I simply cannot stand still."
"Because I have no money."
Muttering a curse to himself, Mr. "The Joker" changed into a thicker set of clothes and prepared to investigate 67 Williams Street.
The reward for this investigation was a full 5 pounds, and strictly speaking, it was the only mission in his detective career that looked relatively formal.
"Besides finding the cat and catching adulterers, my career has finally seen a glimmer of hope again."
The great detective muttered something to himself, then pulled a copper penny that gleamed with a brass light from his pocket. He flicked his finger, and the copper penny flew up and then fell back down, where it was caught by Klein with one hand.
Without needing to look at it with his eyes, the tactile sensation of the copper penny in his palm already told him the answer to the divination.
A profile picture facing upwards indicates affirmation.
This means that there is no danger in investigating 69 Williams Street!
"There is an extraordinary person at 69 Williams Street."
The great detective silently recited the words, tossed the brass penny up again, and caught it once more as it tumbled.
Numbers facing up indicate negation.
There are no extraordinary people at 69 Williams Street!
Seeing the result, Klein did not blindly believe it. He cautiously went above the gray fog and received the same answer before nodding in satisfaction.
"Looks like we can infiltrate and finish this mission tonight!"
While referring to the divination results, this guy formulated a detailed plan, trying to complete the task in just one trip.
Having confirmed the plan, Sherlock Moriarty dressed himself, grabbed an umbrella as a backup, and stepped out into the gloomy, biting wind.
"It's so cold... I wonder how the little kid is doing... He has no money and probably can't find anyone to take him in. He's whimpering and crying on the street now, with no sweets, no food, only cold and hungry begging, but because of his mouth, no one pities him..."
"But he's a demigod, he shouldn't starve..."
Feeling the unusually cold weather and a slight hunger in his stomach, Klein unconsciously thought of that annoying little brat, but as he thought about it, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up.
The scene he imagined was absolutely delightful!
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful!
"I can't do that. In this cold weather, I need to at least have a hot dinner before I finish this job!"
"Like Dipsy's Pie!"
"Medici, hurry up and light the fireplace, and I want a drink!"
The blond boy, dressed in thick pajamas, sat on a leather sofa covered with soft cushions.
Perhaps sensing the change in weather, he tightened his clothes, half-concealing his delicate collarbone, and pulled his pair of fair little feet from the ground, placing them on the sofa. He hugged his arms tightly, curling into a ball, turning himself into a little golden dumpling, looking incredibly cute.
Red Angel merely glanced at Ron and immediately saw through the guy's clumsy acting.
However, He didn't say anything and obediently went over to light the fireplace, afraid that the blond boy would find a lame excuse, saying that He hadn't lit the fireplace and that this was why He was so cold that he had lost his appetite!
If you want to beat me up or don't like me, just say so. Why make up those lame excuses? And every time you eat, your mouth is always greasy. You're telling me that's called a lack of appetite?
Medici curled his lip, disdainfully, and worked even harder, sweating profusely, to light the fireplace.
The warm firelight dispelled the chill inside the villa amidst the continuous rain.
The villa has been completely renovated by Ron; it is lavishly decorated and filled with gold, crystal, and gemstones.
Its walls are inlaid with gold patterns, and its chandeliers are all made of polished star crystals, hanging high and shimmering with a few points of light in the darkness.
Illuminated by the firelight, they reflected a bright light, exuding an air of extravagance that underscored the wealth of the place's owner.
"Medici, what are we having for dinner?"
The blond boy stretched and yawned, causing his thick pajamas to slip off his shoulders, revealing a large expanse of fair skin and delicate collarbones.
He was half-naked, spreading his fingers to feel the warmth, and asked about today's menu.
Just then, Ron's golden eyes scanned his surroundings and he suddenly remembered a certain stingy pauper.
What is Klein doing on such a cold day? Perhaps he is sitting in front of the fireplace, drinking a steaming cup of coffee or tea, just like him?
Surely you wouldn't go out on business in this freezing weather, hungry? Really? Really?
As he thought about it, Ron chuckled and almost burst out laughing. Just imagining the comical scene would make him happy all day.
"Roast goose from Backlund, lobster baked with cream cheese, pan-fried tilapia, and a pound-a-piece toffee pudding—it's from that famous dessert shop, and I also bought ten bottles of Olmere red wine today to use in the cooking."
Listening to Medici's report, the blond boy nodded reservedly. Just then, as if he had thought of something interesting, he suddenly lost all his strength and leaned back on the sofa, groaning and rolling around.
"What can Mr. Fool eat tonight?"
"Could it be a Dipsy pie, buttered toast, and a complimentary hot coffee or something?"
"Poor Mr. Fool!"
Klein wiped his mouth with a napkin, savoring the delicious, not-too-greasy, and slightly fruity Dixie pie, and mentally gave it a big thumbs up.
He picked up the cup and drank the complimentary coffee in one gulp.
"This is life!"
Feeling the warmth of the food in his body, Klein sat in his seat and enjoyed it for a few minutes.
Seeing that it was getting dark outside and there was a light drizzle, Klein hesitated for a while, but finally straightened his clothes, opened his umbrella, and prepared to hire a carriage to go to his destination.
His purpose was to sneak inside and use divination to see if there was any strange evidence of crime or anything bad in the villa.
If everything is normal, then it means the family isn't a scammer, and you can give your employer a reassuring answer.
If so, report them immediately to prevent them from continuing to harm society.
After paying 3 soles, Klein successfully hired a carriage and arrived at his destination.
But as soon as he saw the lavishly decorated villa, which could be described as magnificent, Klein's lips curled up into a slightly comical smile.
Is this the life of the rich?
Mr. Fool was amazed; at that moment, he even had the urge to sell himself and become a servant inside.
Using his spiritual intuition, the "clown" easily sensed that the gold on the villa's walls was real and that the glass was made of crystal.
What's even more outrageous is that the walls of the servants' quarters and stables are inlaid with patterns made of gold!
Although there are fewer of them than in the main house, and although their existence is more like a foil to the villa, they still manage to amaze a certain poor man.
In this cold weather, Klein felt that everything he had done had been meaningless. He had traveled so far for five pounds, and some people regarded it as dirt.
That damn rich bastard!!!
I, Klein Moretti, will rid the people of this scourge today!
