Chapter 56 Playing Cards

"He'll be called the God of Cards, the embodiment of luck, and the protector of countless gamblers."

"How are you feeling!?"

Ron practically forced these words out through gritted teeth.

"Hmph ╯^╰."

"Not very good!"

Although he felt very guilty, Ron didn't show any remorse while playing cards; instead, he became arrogant again.

As the saying goes, "It's easier to change mountains and rivers than to change one's nature," which is probably what this means.

Ron clenched his fist again, then raised his hand and waved it, sending the annoying guy back to his own illusory timeline.

As Ron flipped through the memories that had been synchronized into his mind, his face darkened once again.

Playing cards on the 16th.

Playing cards on the 17th.

They were still playing cards on the 18th.

On the 19th, my body started urging me, but oh well, what's done is done, I might as well play cards first!

On the morning of the 20th, we played cards!

Ron sighed deeply. After reviewing the memories, he didn't say much. After all, it was all his own memory, so what was there to say?

Besides, Ron only spent most of his time playing cards; he did make a point of remembering some special circumstances.

For example, Dunn Smith was contaminated by a hidden entity, and his fate became incongruous.

Leonard Mitchell always muttered to himself, as if he were talking to someone.

Old Neil, who guards the armory and doesn't like playing cards, has the air of a strange fellow.

As for the most important one, Klein Moretti, he always locked himself in the bathroom, doing who knows what.

To put it in Ron's last remaining thoughts about playing cards, playing cards was just a means to gather intelligence!

Ron simply smiled at this statement without offering any comment.

"This tiny city of Tingen is truly full of hidden talents."

Ron made an exaggerated exclamation.

"That's right, Sphere, how could they have attracted us so quickly if it were just Source Castle!"

Upon hearing Ron's exclamation, the Celestial immediately understood and responded, though there seemed to be another meaning hidden in His words.

"Yes, yes, you're right, Dead Ghost."

"Besides Source Castle, I wonder what else could have drawn us here!"

Seeing the Celestial's tacit understanding, Ron also subtly expressed his own views, though it was unclear who he was addressing.

Silence fell over the bathroom.

"There seems to be a parasite inside that poet of Sequence Eight. We always seem to have a special connection with this path."

After a while, the honest and straightforward man changed the subject.

"Ha, narcissist, you should understand what we mean! How could a mere demigod parasitic on us possibly attract us here!"

"Dead Ghost is right, Primordial, you should confess. It will benefit both me and Dead Ghost!"

Upon hearing the shameless remarks of the two pillars, the Primordial One ignored them completely and coldly and unilaterally blocked them out.

His meaning couldn't be clearer: it's all about who gets what they deserve!

Ron's initial reaction was not unexpected, after all, the twists and turns in the fates of those night watchmen were so abrupt that anyone could probably see it.

As a great being who utterly despises the audience, Ron naturally knew what this meant, after all, he had recently been misled by that bearded man and joined a party organized by him.

The problem now is that while he can sense it, finding the source of the disturbance in fate is not such a simple matter.

If Tingen were simply erased from the map, the problem could indeed be found, but Ron would inevitably be hunted down by the Seven Gods of the present world, a future he did not want to see.

"Hmph ╯^╰."

Ron glanced at the timid and cowering Primal Will, grunted, and walked out of the locked bathroom.

High-level hunters often appear as prey; the guy lurking in the shadows must have his own agenda for doing this.

Ron only needs to keep a close eye on this security company, and the mastermind behind it will naturally deliver gifts to his door.

Ron wasn't in a hurry; patience was the last thing he had in common.

Unlocking the bathroom door, the blond boy first went to the recreation room, where he devoured the desserts Ron had won playing cards. Then he went to the captain's office and slammed the door open.

The rude sound of the door being pushed open startled the receding hairline of the single, elderly captain, causing him to drop his pipe and spill the tobacco from his hand.

"Little Ron, be polite. Remember to knock before entering someone's room!"

Upon seeing that it was a blond troublemaker, Dunn's heart calmed down, and he casually gave Ron a few words of advice.

"Dunn, it's so boring here. You promised me I could move out!"

"What I promised was that you could go out for a walk with the other night watchmen."

The old captain's memory was exceptionally sharp; he remembered what he had said to Ron several days earlier.

"You want to go to the Klein's house?"

"right!"

Seeing the troubled boy's extremely bored expression, Dunn's gray eyes flickered, and after a moment's hesitation, he asked his question.

"You seem to like Klein quite a bit?"

"No, I just think he's funny."

Ron adjusted his monocle and answered Dunn's question truthfully.

"I see."

The old captain pondered deeply, analyzing the current situation in his mind and figuring out what to do. As a qualified night watch captain, although his memory was not good, his mind was smart enough.

"Alright, Ron, go and call Klein over. Whether it's possible or not depends on his own wishes."

"It's morning now; he should be studying occult knowledge with old Neil in the armory."

After a long while, Dunn remembered the telegram that the church had handled on its own. He glanced at it with his gray eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips, and gave his reply.

The Night Watch captain, whose hairline was receding, had an answer in his mind.

The captain's office door closed again and then opened again very quickly.

Klein Moretti followed Ron in, feeling a surge of excitement, wondering what the good news Ron had to say was.

"Is it going to be another pay raise? No, maybe it's something else," the young night watchman wondered to himself.

"Klein, I have a difficult task for you!"

Dunn's grey eyes looked at Klein, and he nodded slightly to him.

"Captain, what's the mission? Is it another security assignment?"

Klein was secretly overjoyed. If the captain said that, then he definitely needed his divination abilities.

Now, he is a full member of the Night Watch, and his share of the regular security commissions is no longer as low as it was during his probationary period, when he only received one-tenth of the commission.

"No, there's no request. Um, little Ron said he wants to go home with you. I think it must be uncomfortable for a child to always live in a security company, so I wanted you to take care of little Ron."

"Captain, please allow me to refuse!"

"Ron's expenses will be reimbursed, and you will receive extra overtime pay."
