Chapter 173 Thor in Despair
Chapter 173 Thor in Despair (First Update)
……
At the center of the base, Thor's hammer stands tall.
Thor strode forward with a confident look on his face. He had finally found the hammer that had been with him for thousands of years. As long as he picked up Mjolnir, he could restore his divine body and call Heimdall to open the Bifrost to bring him back to Asgard.
Around him were Jerry, Coulson, several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and the Old Bridge Town astro-meteorological research team, all staring intently at him.
Above him was Hawkeye Patton, holding a specially made bow and arrow in case of an accident.
However, just as Thor's right hand touched Mjolnir, a thunderclap suddenly rang out in the sky, followed by a torrential downpour that began without warning.
"I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling. This rain seems to foreshadow something!"
Jian murmured as she hurriedly retreated to the nearby shed to take shelter from the rain.
As soon as she finished speaking, Thor's desperate roar came from the other side:
"Oh no!!!!"
As Thor had expected, he couldn't lift his beloved hammer after he took it. Instead, like everyone else, he couldn't move Thor's hammer an inch.
After several attempts, he finally realized that this time Odin was truly angry and not joking with him. He had been banished, and he didn't know how long he would be banished.
That's why he knelt down in despair, roaring to the sky to vent his grief.
"I knew it wasn't that simple. And besides, this rain is so perfectly timed!"
Watching the cold, icy rain lash Thor's face, Jerry shook his head, waved his wand, and a wall of fire appeared above Thor, not only shielding him from the rain but also drying his wet hair.
Seeing Saul's desperate state, Jane, who had long harbored feelings for him, felt a pang of sympathy and immediately went to help him into the shed to comfort him.
"What's the situation now?"
Coulson looked at Jerry.
"Something must have happened. Perhaps his father, Odin, isn't planning to let him go back yet. I think it's best not to disturb him now and let him calm down!"
Jerry shrugged.
In fact, he had already had a premonition. Based on certain scenes from Avengers, he could deduce that things were definitely not that simple.
At that moment, Coulson heard Fury's command again, presumably because Nick Fury had also seen everything that had just happened through the surveillance cameras.
"Chief Fury invites you to come over and speak with him."
"Then let's go!"
Jerry nodded and followed Coulson toward the command post on the west side of the base. He also wanted to know what Fury's plans were for Thor now.
Before leaving, Coulson specifically arranged for several agents to take Jane and Eric to their rooms at the base to rest.
Do you think the stories he told are true?
In the base command center, Fury looked seriously at Jerry, who was sitting opposite him and checking his watch.
Jerry looked up and replied:
"I can't be sure if what he said is true, but when I got close to him, I could sense a very powerful magical force within him. So I'm inclined to believe that he is Thor, and that what he said is true!"
Jerry wasn't lying at this moment. Although he could confirm from the movies of his past life that what Thor said was probably true, he did indeed feel the powerful force within Thor.
However, he wasn't sure whether it was Thor's own power or the power Odin used to seal Thor.
"Oh, that's troublesome!"
Fury opened his one eye and fell into deep thought.
More than a decade ago, before he was the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he knew that many powerful alien civilizations existed beyond Earth.
Because back then, he helped the Skrulls alongside Captain Marvel and fought a great battle against the Kree, which is when he lost one of his eyes.
Therefore, he believed the story of Thor to some extent, otherwise he wouldn't have rushed over in person.
If this matter is handled well, then Earth may have a good ally in the universe in the future; if it is not handled well, then a global war may follow.
"Coulson, take those three astro-meteorology experts who came with us to the base's research team and see if we can get further conclusions from the meteorological data."
A moment later, Fury gave an order to Coulson, who was standing nearby.
Although he was now 80% convinced, he still had 20% doubt, so he still needed to rely on the power of science to verify it, and perhaps he would discover another truth.
"Yes, Chief, but what about that Thor?"
Colson asked for instructions.
"Don't worry about him for now. I'll talk to him personally once he's completely calmed down!"
Fury waved his hand.
Thor now has no divine powers and is no different from an ordinary person, so there's no need to pay too much attention to him.
After Coulson left, Fury turned to look at Jerry:
"Are there any records in the magic books you've studied that can verify the stories Thor told?"
"No, I've told you everything I know. The rest is up to you. Oh, and remember to equip my robot soldiers with some electric shock weapons when you're modifying them—the super-powerful kind!"
Jerry had no desire to spend much time with a secret service leader. After roughly understanding Fury's thoughts, he gave a perfunctory reply and ran away.
It's almost five o'clock now, and Elsa and Belle's school bus will probably arrive at the entrance of the community in a little while, so he has to rush back to cook.
New York public elementary and middle schools dismiss students relatively early, usually around 3 p.m. After school, students can stay at school to participate in club activities if they wish, or they can go home on their own if they don't want to.
Jerry always comes home on time, and because he lives close by, he's always the first one home.
Elsa and Ms. Belle arrived home around 5 p.m. The last one to arrive was Haas, who would arrive around 7 p.m. If there was a case, he might arrive at 9 or 10 p.m., or even stay up until the next morning.
After leaving the command center, Jerry found the room Coulson had arranged for him and hung a sign outside the door that read "Magic Training, No Trespassing."
"Imprison them immediately, expel the Muggles!"
After casting a Locking Charm and a Muggle Expulsion Charm, Jerry pulled out his glove and unlocked the Portkey.
After a spatial fluctuation, he disappeared from the S.H.I.E.L.D. temporary base in New Mexico and arrived at his New York home, where he had left a key beforehand.
Around 8 p.m., seeing that Haas and his two companions had yawned and gone to their rooms to sleep shortly after finishing their dinner, Jerry unlocked the door again.
He added a little something extra to dinner: a magical potion that helps with sleep, similar to a sleeping pill, but with health benefits.
Because you'll feel extra energetic the next day.
