Chapter 204 Expensive House-Elves

Chapter 204 The Expensive House-Elf (Third Update)

After passing through the area where dark magic items were traded, Jerry, leaning on his cane, headed towards other areas he hadn't visited before.

However, after looking around, he didn't see any stalls selling magical creatures or magical creature eggs, as if the black market didn't offer this service.

Jerry didn't give up. If Quirrell was able to buy dragon eggs to trap Hagrid, it meant that there were definitely prohibited magical creatures for sale on the black market, but he just hadn't found a way to get them.

With a sudden thought, Jerry slowly walked to a slightly remote stall in the far corner, pointed at the bearded middle-aged stall owner, and quietly released the Soul-Stealing Curse.

"Do you know where on the black market they sell prohibited magical creatures?"

"For Fantastic Beasts, look for Heaton."

The middle-aged stall owner, who had been afflicted by the Soul-Stealing Curse, wore a blissful expression.

Which Heaton?

Jerry continued to ask.

"Heathon, the wizard standing at the top of the stairs."

After hearing the stall owner's explanation, he roughly understood what was going on.

It turns out that the black market for prohibited magical creatures isn't here, but in a secluded location in the suburbs of Paris. After all, many of these magical creatures are quite large and extremely aggressive, so it would be very troublesome if something went wrong.

The Ministry of Magic might turn a blind eye to contraband under the bar, but it would never allow dangerous magical creatures to appear on Magic Street.

So, if you want to get there, you either need to know the location or go find the wizard named Heaton at the entrance.

"Forget everything, and all is emptiness!"

After breaking free from the Imperius Curse, Jerry used the Oblivion Curse to erase the stall owner's memory of what had just happened, and then walked towards the wizard named Heaton at the top of the stairs.

"I'd like to buy some magical creatures, could you take me there?"

This time, Jerry didn't use the Imperius Curse or the Confusion Curse; instead, he pulled out a bag of gleaming Galleons.

The stall owner just said that as long as enough financial resources are demonstrated, this wizard named Heaton won't care about Jerry's identity and will take him there directly.

Sure enough, although the wizard was a little puzzled about when Jerry had entered the black market below, he immediately smiled and led Jerry to a booth behind the bar after seeing several hundred Galleons.

"Sir, hold this bottle, and it will take you wherever you want to go!"

"Thank you for your help!"

Jerry glanced at the bottle and knew it must be the key to the door leading to the outskirts of Paris. Without hesitation, he reached out and grabbed it.

The space twisted, and his body was instantly sucked into the bottle and disappeared.

When he landed again, he was no longer in the bar on the French magic street, but in a huge tent.

This enormous tent, like his box, must have been expanded by the Seamless Stretch Charm, making it the size of five or six football fields.

Inside, you can see all sorts of magical creatures kept in captivity, as well as wizards who come and go wearing hoods and concealing their identities.

"Ball-escape bird, Ball-escape bird, a rare and endangered species, highest bidder wins!"

"Trolls, the cubs of mountain trolls, if trained well, they'll make excellent troll security guards!"

"A baby giant eight-eyed spider. Once it grows up, you'll have an inexhaustible supply of venom!"

The entire tent was filled with the incessant shouts of the black wizards.

Seeing this, Jerry didn't waste any time and began to carefully search the tent.

Unfortunately, after searching through most of the tent, he still hadn't found any suitable magical creatures.

Most of the magical creatures he has seen so far are at the XX or XXX level. There are very few magical creatures at the XXXX level, let alone the XXXXX level.

With his current strength, the number of magical creatures he can contract is limited, so he should choose those that are more helpful to him.

Like the ball bird, it is indeed cute and fluffy, but it is completely useless to him.

Trolls are strong, but not very smart, making them extremely inefficient. If he increases his contract size in the future, he can go to some forests where trolls gather and take over the entire tribe. There's no need to buy one separately to raise.

As for the eight-eyed giant spider, it's quite good. Its intelligence is no less than that of humans, and its venom is also very valuable.

However, there are plenty of them in the Forbidden Forest, so why waste money buying them here? He might as well wait until school starts and then go to the Forbidden Forest to steal two.

Other items like the Little Devil, Fire Snake, and Swallowtail Dog are either useless or have too low a cost-performance ratio to be worth buying.

He finally found what he was looking for when he wandered to the very back of the tent.

That must have been the largest magical creature stall in the entire tent; its stall alone occupied one-tenth of the tent's area.

Unlike other stalls where only one or two dark wizards were hawking their wares, this stall had over twenty dark wizards working together, like a large team.

Moreover, the magical creatures sold there are clearly on a different level from those at other stalls.

The giant horse-shaped water monster housed in a large water tank, the three-headed rune snake, the snowman with snow-white fur and a height of over five meters, and so on, are all extremely dangerous and highly aggressive magical creatures.

But these weren't what Jerry valued most. What he valued most were the four trembling house-elves with large, bat-like ears.

House-elves are magical creatures in the wizarding world, and the most loyal servants of wizards.

Despite their seemingly weak appearance, each house-elves possesses considerable magical abilities.

They are proficient in elven magic. Although they don't have any powerful offensive magic, they are extremely skilled in housework, invisibility, and teleportation magic. They can even Apparate at Hogwarts.

Jerry's biggest weakness right now is his two family members, Haas and Elsa, with Teacher Belle being half of them.

But if everyone were given a house-elf by their side, then his only weakness would be largely mitigated.

House-elves can become invisible, so they won't be detected even when they're near Haas and the others.

When encountering ordinary enemies, they can easily deal with them using elven magic. If they encounter truly powerful enemies, they can also use Apparition to escape with their companions.

The level of security has been greatly improved.

However, when Jerry asked about the price, he was immediately dumbfounded.

The price of a house-elf is a whopping 10,000 Galleons! All his savings combined aren't even enough to buy one.

No wonder, only some ancient and traditional wizarding families have house-elves.

It turns out that most people simply can't afford to keep house-elves as pets.

In the wizarding world, the average wizard earns only a few dozen Galleons a month. Even a better job, like being a regular Auror in the Ministry of Magic, only pays a little over a hundred Galleons a month.

An ordinary wizard might have to work for ten or twenty years without eating or drinking to earn ten thousand Galleons.
