Chapter 213 You Play Me, I Play You
Chapter 213 You Play Me, I Play You (Second Update)
On the way from Flourish and Blotts to the Leaky Cauldron, Jerry slowly walked up behind Ginny.
"Ice Formation!"
With a snap of his fingers inside her wide wizard robes, a thin layer of ice suddenly formed on the ground where Ginny was about to land.
Ice spell, like fire spell, is one of the most basic and simple spells in the Merlin school of magic.
Although it has virtually no power, it is quick to activate and extremely difficult to detect because it uses very little magic.
"oops!"
Ginny's right foot slipped on the smooth ice, causing her to fall backward, the crucible full of textbooks in her hand flying out of her hand.
Are you alright?
Jerry stepped forward and caught Ginny as she was about to fall with one hand. Then, with a snap of his fingers, he melted the ice beneath their feet into water.
"I'm fine, I just slipped!"
Ginny stood up from Jerry's arms, still shaken. Clearly, the sudden fall had startled her.
At this moment, everyone was drawn by Ginny's scream and rushed over to check on her.
Jerry quietly stepped back and naturally walked to the spot where the crucible had just fallen, pretending to help pick up the textbooks.
"Looks like this is the one!"
While everyone's attention was focused on Ginny, Jerry quietly picked up a very old-looking diary that was lying on the ground and put it into his bag.
"Ginny, here's your book. Check if anything's missing."
Jerry put the scattered textbooks back into the crucible and handed it to Ginny with a smile.
"No, everything's here, thank you!"
Ginny took the crucible and thanked Jerry shyly.
After everything was settled, everyone continued chatting and laughing as they made their way to the Leaky Cauldron.
"How about coming over to our house sometime? Jerry doesn't have to go to training anyway!"
Inside the Leaky Cauldron, Ron extended an invitation to Jerry and Hermione before using Floo Powder to return.
Before the holidays, Ron had invited everyone to his Burrow, but Jerry declined because the England Quidditch team might need to train. Later, Harry was confined to his home and couldn't go out, so the invitation didn't come to fruition.
During their conversation, he learned that Jerry was now living in the Leaky Cauldron and that Harry would be spending the last two weeks of school at the Burrow.
So he extended the invitation again.
"I have no problem with that!"
Hermione, who was very interested in the wizard's house, immediately agreed.
Jerry was about to refuse, but after thinking about it, he nodded instead.
"I might be busy with some things in the next few days, could it be a few days later?"
Having just received Voldemort's notebook, he needed a few days to communicate with it, but considering that Ron's father, Arthur, was a master of alchemy, he decided not to refuse because he could ask him for alchemy advice.
"How about this weekend? Mr. and Mrs. Granger should be off work too, so they can come over together."
At this moment, Arthur chimed in with a suggestion.
Arthur is very interested in the Muggle world, and he had a very pleasant conversation with Mr. Granger on the way. He hopes to have another chance to talk about it properly later.
"Oh, I'll definitely prepare the ingredients in advance and cook something delicious for you all!"
Mrs. Weasley was also a person who enjoyed lively gatherings.
"Of course, we have no problem with that!"
The Grangers exchanged a glance and agreed.
As one of the few Muggles who knew of the existence of wizards without being afraid, they were also curious about the wizards their daughter was talking about.
At this moment, everyone's eyes turned to Jerry.
Jerry shrugged:
"It'll definitely be fine on the weekend!"
So, after saying goodbye...
The Weasley family and Harry returned to the Burrow, using Floo Powder to sit in the fireplace of the Leaky Cauldron. Hermione and her parents left the pub and returned to the Muggle world.
In the end, only Jerry was left in the bar.
"Voldemort, let's have a proper talk!"
Jerry carried his schoolbag and returned to his room on the second floor.
Jerry hung the book bag by the bed, took out the old, faded diary from the bag and placed it on the table, then picked up a quill pen and sat down in the chair.
Opening the first page of the diary, one can see a few words in the lower right corner that are already blurred, but are still barely legible:
"tm Riddle"
I flipped through the diary; it was completely blank, as if it had never been written on.
However, Jerry had anticipated this.
He dipped the quill he picked up into the ink on the table and then wrote:
"My name is Jerry Carmen, I'm twelve years old, and I'm a second-year student in Slytherin at Hogwarts. Today, while I was buying books at Flourish and Blotts in Diagon Alley, I accidentally found a notebook, and I plan to use it to write in my diary..."
As soon as Jerry stopped writing, the words he had written in his diary seemed to shimmer on the paper before being quickly absorbed, leaving no trace.
"Huh, what's going on?"
Jerry pretended to be surprised.
Then, a new line of text appeared on that page:
"Hello, Jerry Carmen. My name is Tom Riddle."
"You actually possess consciousness? Are you some kind of alchemical artifact?"
Jerry continued writing on the paper.
The writing disappeared again, and then new text appeared:
"Yes, I am an alchemical artifact created by a great wizard, capable of answering any questions you may have about magic!"
"That's amazing? I don't believe it. Do you know about Apparition magic? I'm very interested in that spell!"
Jerry said he wanted to verify it.
Immediate reply on paper:
"That's too easy for me. I can teach you the spells and practice techniques, but I've been asleep for several years. Can you tell me what's happened in the wizarding world during that time?"
"As long as you teach me Apparition, that's no problem!"
Jerry's lips curled up as he began writing about the Second Magical War, the defeat of the Dark Lord Voldemort, and the famous Harry Potter.
Why steal Voldemort's diary?
Jerry knew that it contained Voldemort's youthful soul and memories, which could help him learn some magic that he couldn't learn at the moment.
As for whether Voldemort would control him the way he controlled Ginny, Jerry wasn't worried at all.
Voldemort's Horcruxes, though powerful, cannot be used to control a wizard at will, especially one as powerful as him.
In the original story, the reason Voldemort was able to control Ginny was because Ginny opened her heart to him and completely trusted him, which is why her soul was corrupted by Voldemort.
Would Jerry open his heart to Voldemort? Of course not!
In the days to come, Voldemort will surely try every means to impersonate Jerry in order to gain Jerry's trust, while Jerry will also impersonate Voldemort, trying to extract as much magical knowledge from him as possible.
You play me, I play you, and we're all happy together—how wonderful!
