Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard
Chapter 22 Iron Man's Gift
Chapter 22 Iron Man's Gift
After breakfast, Has put on his police uniform, unusually stern-faced, and called Jerry aside.
"What's wrong, Dad? Did Elsa break your lightsaber collection again?!"
Jerry looked at Hass with a somewhat serious expression and showed surprise. This was not like Hass' usual style.
"Ahem, not that!"
Has coughed awkwardly, then straightened his face again and said:
"Jerry, you have been very sensible, kind and righteous since you were little. Your father is very gratified and proud of you."
But you're still a child. If you encounter a situation like yesterday again, I hope you'll prioritize protecting yourself. You're my only son, and if anything happens to you...
Yesterday, when Has learned at the police station that Jerry and Elsa's school bus had been hijacked, he almost exploded.
Later, after finding the school bus, and learning from Ms. Bailey about Jerry's act of stepping forward to take the place of others as hostages, he felt a mix of emotions.
From a police officer's perspective, Hass naturally encouraged and approved of Jerry's actions.
But as a father, how could Haas possibly want his child to do something that could endanger their life?
Although Jerry wasn't his biological son, he had long regarded him as his own son.
So in the end, the father's position prevailed over the police's position, and he solemnly warned Jerry that next time he encountered a situation like this, as a child, his first priority should be to protect himself.
"I know, Dad. I was actually quite scared too. I won't do it again!"
Jerry wasn't a real child, so he naturally understood Haas's good intentions and nodded in agreement without any objection.
However, the next time this situation occurs, the ordinary kid Jerry certainly won't intervene; it will be the mysterious wizard boy who will.
"That's good. You and Elsa stay home and play while I go to work. Call me if you need anything!"
Haas breathed a slight sigh of relief when he saw that Jerry did not show any resistance or resentment on his face.
After all, Jerry's behavior was commendable, and anyone would praise him for it. However, as his father, he hadn't agreed with it. He was afraid that if he said it today, Jerry wouldn't understand and might develop some negative rebellious tendencies.
But the result was obviously very good.
Jerry was as sensible and mature as ever, and easily understood his good intentions.
"Elsa, Daddy's going to work. Aren't you going to give him a kiss?"
After finishing his conversation with Jerry, it was almost time for work, so Has called out one last time to Elsa, who was watching cartoons in the living room.
Elsa didn't disappoint Haas; she jumped off the sofa, ran over, and gave Haas a big bite on the face.
"Dad, let's play a game before you go to work!"
"Games? What games?"
Has was taken aback.
"It's a competition to see who can hit harder; if you win, I'll let you work!"
Elsa blinked her eyes and looked at Haas with an innocent expression.
"Great, that's too easy!"
Haas clenched his fist and then very, very lightly tapped little Elsa's belly.
"Now it's my turn!"
Elsa chuckled, then clenched her little fist, mustered all her strength, and let out a loud shout:
"The Snow Queen's Punishment!"
Then he shoved it hard into Has's stomach, making Has, who was squatting on the ground, sit down on his butt.
"Okay, Dad, you win. Go to work!"
After finishing the fight, Elsa ran off to watch cartoons without looking back, leaving Haas completely bewildered.
"jingle!"
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Haas opened the door, and a delivery guy, carrying a long cardboard box, politely asked:
"Is Mr. Jerry Carmen home?"
"Are you home? Is there anything I can help you with?"
Has looked puzzled.
"This is his package. Please ask him to come out and sign for it!"
The deliveryman placed the cardboard box on the ground.
"My package... I didn't order anything online!"
Jerry, who came upon hearing the noise, also looked puzzled.
He's an eleven-year-old kid who usually spends his time exercising or trying to earn little red stars. He hardly ever goes online, so why would he buy something online, especially something this big?
The deliveryman glanced at the delivery slip:
"This package was sent to you by a lady named Virginia Pepper Potts!"
"This name sounds familiar!"
As Jerry signed for the package, he recalled the few memories he had of Marvel movies.
"Is she Iron Man's girlfriend?"
"Wow, God, this is Iron Man's suit! That's so cool! Jerry, someone actually sent you an Iron Man suit! You can't buy these on the market right now!"
While Jerry was trying to recall, Haas had already opened the cardboard box, taken out an Iron Man model machine that was the same size as Jerry's, and looked very excited.
"Dad, it was a gift that Iron Man promised to give me when he saved me yesterday. I thought he was joking, but I didn't expect him to actually give me a set."
But speaking of which, isn't your favorite thing the lightsaber from Star Wars?
"Star Wars is just a movie, but the Iron Man suits are real. I absolutely love Tony Stark's suit that can fire energy cannons!"
Jerry was speechless upon hearing this.
I never expected that my dad, Haas, was a fan of Iron Man.
Some people once said that being a "chuunibyou" (a person with delusions of grandeur) is hereditary, but Jerry didn't believe it. It wasn't until he met Haas and Elsa that he realized that being a "chuunibyou" really is hereditary.
Elsa loves all kinds of magic, while Haas is fond of all kinds of mechs and lightsabers.
"Dad, you can have it if you like!"
Jerry wasn't actually that interested in armored or mechanical things. He only asked Iron Man for a model to enrich his own persona and prevent Iron Man from having any doubts about him.
Besides, the model Iron Man gave him was just a model; it couldn't possibly be anything that could actually be used as a weapon.
"Jerry, Daddy loves you!"
Upon hearing Jerry's words, Has was so happy he almost jumped up, and bent down to give Jerry a deep "fatherly kiss".
"Dad, it's 8:40 now. You have twenty minutes to get to the police station, or you'll be late!"
Jerry reached out and precisely stopped Haas's "fatherly kiss".
"God, time flies! Jerry, help me put this armor model away properly, please don't let Elsa break it!"
Haas glanced at the time, quickly handed the Iron Man armor model to Jerry, and rushed out in a hurry.
"Indeed, a man is a boy until he dies!"
Jerry couldn't help but shake his head.
It's not really surprising that a 36-year-old, shrewd and capable police chief would like this kind of thing.
After all, if someone gave him a pair of nunchucks that Bruce Lee used, he definitely wouldn't be as calm as he is now.
