Chapter 312 The Dementors Attack
Chapter 312 The Dementors Attack (Third Update)
Actually, Jerry usually sat with Hermione whenever he took the train, but at that time he was free of distractions, so he thought it was normal.
However, ever since he realized Hermione's feelings, and perhaps because his young body made his heart feel young as well, even the slightest physical contact caused his heart to race.
"Hey, look who's here!"
Just then, a lazy, drawn-out voice suddenly came from the carriage door.
Immediately afterwards, the carriage door was opened, and a pale-faced Decora, along with Crabbe and Gore, whose muscular physiques had expanded even more compared to before the holiday, appeared at the door.
"Decora, Gore, Crabbe, what's up?"
Jerry turned his head and looked over with a smile.
"No, it's nothing. We just haven't seen everyone in a long time, so we came over to say hello. Now that we've said hello, we're going back. Jerry, you guys chat, goodbye!"
Upon seeing Jerry sitting in the private box, Malfoy's attitude immediately underwent a complete 180-degree turn. He waved amicably and quickly left with his two henchmen.
As the leader of Slytherin, Snape's favorite student, and an idol to most of the school's wizards, Malfoy was unwilling to be too rude in front of Jerry.
"He only maintains basic politeness in front of you!"
Seeing that Malfoy left so easily, Ron couldn't help but make a few sarcastic remarks in the direction Malfoy had gone.
"Actually, he's not a bad person at heart; it's just that his family environment fostered some bad character traits. I believe that if he lives in the dorm with me for another two years, he will completely change."
Jerry smiled and offered an explanation.
"Cake, multi-flavored beans, chocolate frog. Anyone interested?"
Not long after the Malfoy trio left, the voice of the fat witch pushing a snack cart reached into the carriage.
The four of them looked up at the time and realized it was already past one o'clock.
"I'll treat everyone to snacks!"
When Jerry noticed Hermione leaning closer again, he hurriedly got up, opened the carriage door, and went to buy snacks.
A little while later he carried a huge pile of all kinds of snacks and put them on the table.
Although his trip to Greece cost him a lot of Galleons, he was supported by his Quidditch player salary, and he also occasionally sold some precious herbs, high-level potions, and Octopod venom, so he still had quite a few Galleons left in his pocket.
"Wow, being a National Quidditch player is amazing!"
Ron jumped up with joy when he saw Jerry bring over a huge pile of snacks.
"Hermione, your favorite cauldron cake!"
Jerry placed the snacks on the table, picked up a packaged crucible-shaped cake, and handed it to Hermione next to him.
Having spent so much time studying and researching magic with Hermione, he naturally knew what snacks she liked to eat.
"Thank you, here's the chocolate I peeled!"
Hermione took the crucible-shaped cake from Jerry and fed the chocolate she had just peeled to Jerry.
Initially, because activating the energy-boosting effects consumed a lot of energy, Jerry would always carry chocolate with him when he was reading books and researching magic with Hermione, so he could replenish his energy at any time.
Upon seeing this, Harry and Ron, for some reason, suddenly found that the snacks they had been happily eating didn't taste so good anymore.
As time passed and the train continued its northward journey, the weather began to change. The once clear sky was suddenly covered with a large patch of dark clouds.
"Swish"
A torrential downpour suddenly poured down from the sky, turning the view outside the car windows a watery gray, and the lights in the aisle and on the car frame immediately came on.
Meanwhile, Hermione, who was already "sleepy and had closed her eyes," also "unconsciously" rested her head on Jerry's shoulder.
Seeing this, Jerry had no choice but to sit up straight and remain still to avoid waking Hermione.
Around three or four o'clock, the train suddenly began to slow down, and Ron immediately stood up excitedly:
"Great, I'm sure we'll be there soon!"
"That's impossible, it's only four o'clock."
Hermione opened her eyes wide and retorted.
Harry looked at Hermione with some surprise:
"Weren't you asleep?"
"Oh yeah, I was asleep, but Ron's voice was so loud it woke me up!"
Hermione explained, blushing slightly.
In reality, she wasn't asleep at all; she was just pretending to be asleep so she could lean on Jerry's shoulder and occasionally peek at the time on the opposite wall to estimate how much longer she could comfortably lean on him like that.
"Thump!"
Just then, the train came to a sudden stop, the sound of the wheels disappeared, and only the sound of heavy rain hitting the train window could be heard outside.
"What happened?"
Suddenly, Ron cried out in alarm, because all the lights in the train suddenly went out, plunging the train into darkness.
"Fluorescent lights!"
The moment the lights went out, Jerry took out his wand and cast a glowing spell. With a flick of his wand, he sent a fist-sized ball of light to the top of the carriage, restoring light to the interior.
"Hey Jerry, you can use fluorescent lights like that?"
Hermione let out a soft exclamation when she saw Jerry fling the light source at the tip of his wand and fix it to the roof of the carriage, because the glowing charm she had learned did not have this function.
"I've made some improvements, and I can teach you if you'd like!"
Jerry smiled.
Hermione immediately nodded; she was very interested in this new kind of magic.
"Why is the car parked here? Is it broken?"
"have no idea"
Just then, the chattering of the young wizards began to drift from outside the carriage.
Jerry glanced out the car window and vaguely saw a group of tall figures lining up to board the bus. A smile immediately appeared on his face.
"Dementors, huh? We've been waiting for you!"
Dark creatures that grow powerful by absorbing human pleasure and souls are immune to both physical and magical attacks, except for the Guardian Charm, which also possesses mental attack properties.
How could he possibly let go of such a magical creature with such strong control abilities?
"Hey, why is it lit up here? What happened?"
The carriage door was pushed open, and a somewhat flustered Neville and Ginny walked in.
Jerry picked up his wand, got up, and walked to the doorway:
"Something seems to have boarded the train; it looks like a Dementor. Come in and hide behind me!"
"Dementors!"
Upon hearing those three words, everyone shuddered. Ginny immediately slipped under Jerry's arm into the carriage and sat next to Hermione, while Neville squeezed in next to Ron.
Dementors, the guardians of Azkaban. Since Sirius Black's escape, no wizard is unaware of Azkaban and its terrifying Dementors.
"Oh, Neville, you should lose weight!"
Jerry heard Ron complaining behind him.
"Perhaps they were sent by the Ministry of Magic to search Sirius Black, and they'll leave after they've finished their search."
Hermione comforted her, her voice trembling slightly.
