Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard
Chapter 35 The Slytherin Common Room
Chapter 35 The Slytherin Common Room
Of all the ghosts at Hogwarts, the Bloody Barrow is the one that all young wizards fear. Some of the more timid wizards are even frightened to tears by the Bloody Barrow's terrifying appearance when they encounter him alone.
Bloody Barrow is the highest-ranking and most powerful ghost among the ghosts of Hogwarts. Even Peeves, the fearless and mischievous elf, dares not disobey Bloody Barrow's orders.
At this moment, a blonde witch sitting opposite Goyle and Crabbe, watching Jerry elegantly eating his steak, nudged another very burly witch next to her and whispered:
"Miriam, don't you think he looks really handsome!"
"Daphne, I still think Goyle is more handsome!"
The burly Milison turned to look at Jerry, then at Goy across from him, and replied.
The blonde little witch: "..."
And so, after the brief commotion caused by the ghosts' appearance, the banquet returned to its lively atmosphere. Everyone ate delicious food, drank beverages, introduced themselves, and chatted with each other.
Unlike the Muggle-born wizards at the next table, who were recounting their bizarre experiences after receiving their Hogwarts acceptance letters, this time...
The Slytherin wizards, including Jerry, mostly talked about topics that highlighted their status, such as their family's wealth and their parents' social standing.
The highest-ranking family among them is obviously the Malfoy family, one of the ancient Holy Twenty-Eight Families. The elder Malfoy is also a Hogwarts School Board member and has close ties with high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Magic.
The richest of them all was a boy named Blaise Sabine. His mother, Madame Sabine, was a beautiful and famous witch who had been married seven times.
Because each of her husbands left a large inheritance to her and her son upon their death, the family was even wealthier than the Malfoys.
As the dinner party drew to a close, Dumbledore rose again and gave all the young wizards a few words of advice for the start of the school year.
Jerry summarized the main points: no going to the dangerous Forbidden Forest, no casting spells in the hallways during breaks, and second-year students and above who wish to participate in the Quidditch selections can register with Ms. Hooch in the second week.
And most importantly, no one is allowed to go to the right-hand corridor on the fourth floor.
After explaining the precautions, we sang the school song.
With a wave of his wand, Dumbledore conjured a long, golden ribbon that snaked and coiled high into the lines of the school song lyrics.
When the school song ended, the opening banquet also officially came to a close.
"All first-year students, follow me. I'm your prefect, Gemma Farley, and I'll be leading you to the common room!"
As the dinner party ended, a girl of about fourteen or fifteen years old, dressed in a robe, stood up at the Slytherin long table and called out to the somewhat bewildered Slytherin freshmen.
Upon hearing this, the young wizards immediately gathered around the girl and followed her through the crowd toward the Slytherin common room.
"Wait, aren't the Slytherin common rooms up in the castle?"
Jerry, mingling among the young wizards, watched as the prefect named Gemma led them toward the basement, and couldn't help but feel a little surprised.
He remembered that in the movie, Harry and the others seemed to go up some automatically moving staircases and then enter the common room through the portrait of the Fat Lady.
"The Gryffindor and Ravenclaw common rooms are on the eighth floor of the tower, while the Hufflepuff and Slytherin common rooms are in the basement. But I can assure you, our Slytherin common room is absolutely the best, and you'll see soon enough!"
Just then, Gemma, who was leading the way and explaining some school rules, happened to talk about the location of the lounge, which cleared up Jerry's doubts.
Entering the dungeon to the right of the grand marble staircase in the foyer, and traversing the maze-like, dark corridors, Jerry soon came to a stone wall.
"noble!"
As Gemma, the leader, gave a command to the stone wall, a stone door immediately appeared on the previously empty and damp stone wall and slowly opened.
"Entering the common room is only possible with a password, which changes every two weeks. The new password will be announced in advance on the bulletin board in the common room."
Remember, the password for the next two weeks is - Noble!
Gemma explained to the young wizards in a tone that was both arrogant and proud.
The young wizards nodded proudly as well, clearly indicating their approval of Slytherin's command.
"As expected of Slytherin!"
Jerry looked at everyone with their chins held high and a uniformly arrogant expression, and for some reason, he found these little Slytherin wizards rather cute.
As you follow the young wizards into the common room, the first thing that catches your eye is the magic lamps that are chained together and glow with a green light, as well as the decorations made of animal skulls hanging on the walls.
His first impression was – it's so green!
What kind of bizarre aesthetic sense does Slytherin have?
However, it's not without its merits. At least the fireplaces, sofas, tables, and chairs in the Slytherin common room look very exquisite, with various beautiful carvings on them.
Furthermore, a medieval tapestry depicting famous adventures of the Slytherins hangs on the wall opposite the fireplace, which is quite interesting.
Of course, what Jerry found most interesting was the large window opposite the stone door of the common room, which took up two-thirds of the wall area.
Looking out of that large window, one could see the bottom of Black Lake directly, with giant squid and various other lake creatures leisurely swimming past, giving him the illusion of visiting an aquarium in a past life.
It turns out that Slytherin's common room was built beneath the Black Lake, and magically protected from the lake's water seepage. This allows the Slytherins living there to experience the mysterious feeling of an underwater shipwreck at any time.
"Boys, go to the room on the left; girls, go to the room on the right. Your class schedules should already be in your rooms. If you have any questions, come find me later!"
Gemma looked at the young wizards standing in front of the large window, marveling at the scenery outside, gave them one last instruction, and then left.
The view from the window was indeed magical, but the little wizards were exhausted today, and after a short while, they dispersed to find their own rooms.
Jerry was no exception.
He left the common room earlier than the young wizards and headed towards the boys' dormitory on the left.
Each boy's dormitory had the name of the resident wizard posted on the door, so he quickly found his own room.
"Jerry Carmen, Draco Malfoy, Gregory Gore, Vincent Crabbe."
Looking at the four names posted on the dormitory door, Jerry smiled helplessly:
"I really do have a special connection with these three children!"
