Chapter 416 Imminent Activation
Chapter 416 On the Verge of Conflict (Third Update)
The devastated planet Laka hides a black market in the Grand Canyon.
In front of a massive building converted from half of a decommissioned planetary warship, a peculiar, golden spaceship landed steadily on a patch of scorched earth where dozens of spaceships of various colors were parked.
The spaceship landed and removed its powerful defensive energy shield, and a wooden ladder quickly extended down from the deck.
Immediately afterwards, two men, a woman, and a raccoon walked down the ladder.
It was Jerry and Star-Lord's group.
Perhaps it was because the spaceship's appearance was so unique, or perhaps it was the energy shield covering its surface that made it exceptionally valuable, but the bounty hunters gathered outside the black market all showed a hint of greed in their eyes as they looked at Jerry and his companions.
"There's no law in the black market, be careful!"
Gamora walked to Jerry's left, her hands on her hips, seemingly ready to draw her sword at any moment.
Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon walked perfectly to Jerry's right and behind him, always keeping an eye on his safety.
This is a super-large customer worth 5 billion. The key is that they haven't received the money yet. If they die, they will really regret it.
"Actually, you don't need to do this. My magic is quite powerful."
Jerry offered an explanation, but seeing the obvious disbelief on the three men's faces, he didn't say anything more.
He wasn't one to show off, and they estimated they'd be spending a considerable amount of time together before finding a suitable planet, so they'd all eventually find out about his abilities.
"Maybe we can go inside and wander around before leaving!"
Jerry looked at the black market ahead with a keen interest.
Seeing this black market in the universe reminded him of the black market in the French magic street and the magical creature black market in the suburbs in the Harry Potter world.
Those experiences in the black market brought him considerable gains.
The expressions on the faces of the bounty hunters nearby now bear a striking resemblance to those of the wizards he killed in the black market.
"I think we'd better leave as soon as possible!"
Gamora looked at the ill-intentioned bounty hunters and clearly disagreed with Jerry's suggestion.
As a legendary race, Asgards rarely leave the Nine Realms, so they are largely unknown to most ordinary people in the universe.
Just like most ordinary people on Earth have heard of the Mayan civilization, but they don't know exactly what their civilization was like, what their architectural features were, or what their unique symbols were.
That means only a few archaeologists, or people who are interested in this topic, would know.
The bounty hunters and mercenaries outside the black market, who live a life of high-stakes gambling and ruthlessness, are clearly not the type with much literary flair.
Therefore, they wouldn't recognize the Asgardian spaceship as an Asgardian vessel, nor would they be afraid because of Asgard's reputation.
They just thought that such a strange spaceship, capable of interstellar travel and with a protective energy shield on its surface, was obviously the kind of spaceship that only the rich could afford.
"Although I'm not afraid of them, just in case, I agree to Gamora's suggestion: go straight to Quill's ship, find Groot and Drax, and then get out of here as soon as possible!"
As a fellow bounty hunter, Rocket Raccoon is clearly very familiar with the nature of black market bounty hunters.
The strange Asgardian airship has now attracted the attention of these bounty hunters, and if they are slow, someone will probably come looking for trouble soon.
If it were just a few of them, of course they wouldn't be afraid; they'd just go for it. The Rockets have never known how to be a coward.
But now it's not just them; there's also Jerry, who's incredibly rich. If Jerry gets hit by a laser gun in the melee, their five billion will be gone.
So, to be on the safe side, we should find Groot and Drax directly, and then leave this place in two spaceships first.
"I also think it's a wise decision, although I'd love to go in and play a couple of rounds right now!"
Although Star-Lord is a bit unreliable, he's not stupid; he knows that five billion is more important right now.
So, all three of them looked at Jerry at the same time.
They only have the right to make suggestions; the decision-making power naturally lies with Jerry, the big customer. If Jerry insists on going in and having some fun, they have no choice but to oblige.
"Then let's leave as soon as possible!"
Jerry shrugged when he saw this.
Actually, he wasn't that fixated on whether or not to visit the black market, not because he was worried that the bounty hunters there would pose any threat to him.
He's not short of money now, so there's no need for him to resort to double-crossing anymore. Besides, once he's done with his business, if he wants to go sightseeing, he can always visit the Void, the largest black market in the universe.
So since all three of them wanted to leave as soon as possible, he didn't insist.
Aside from his research into magic and his combat state, Jerry is usually quite good-natured.
And so, the four of them wandered around for a while and soon found Star-Lord's "Milanor" ship, which was parked at the very back among all the ships.
Pressing a button, the "Minollan" immediately lowered an entrance staircase, and the four people quickly walked in along the staircase.
"I am Groot!"
As soon as I stepped into the cabin, a large tree trunk peered out with a mournful expression.
It was precisely because of his striking size that Groot, the tree spirit, was left behind on the spaceship.
Groot only knows one sentence, but it expresses different meanings, and no one can understand it except for Rocket Raccoon, who is with him day and night.
"Okay, we're a little late. Where's that idiot Drax?"
Sure enough, Rocket Raccoon immediately understood what Groot meant: he was complaining that they had been gone for too long.
Indeed, if things had gone according to plan and they hadn't gone with Jerry to sell the spaceships and warships, they should have returned much sooner.
"I am Groot."
Groot pointed to a recliner behind him, hidden by his body, where a burly man with an exceptionally strong physique and covered in red scars was fast asleep, sprawled out on his back.
"Quail, I know you're in there. Get out right now!"
Just as Rocket Raccoon jumped on Drax and slapped him awake, an angry voice suddenly came from outside the spaceship.
Upon hearing this sound, Star-Lord's expression changed drastically, and he quickly ran to the driver's seat and pressed a button.
Suddenly, a virtual projection appeared on the screen in front of the spaceship's cockpit.
Judging from the image displayed on the screen, it is clear that the projection shows the scene in mid-air outside the spaceship at this moment.
The area was no longer a blank space, but was occupied by a huge spaceship and hundreds of other spaceships similar to Star-Lord's Milano.
That angry voice just now came from the largest spaceship.
"Oh shit, this is a huge problem!"
Star-Lord looked at the scene on the screen and couldn't help but swear.
