Chapter 42 Snape's Misunderstanding

Early the next morning,

Having made a prior arrangement, Jerry and Hermione, after having breakfast in the Great Hall, couldn't wait to rush to the library on the second floor.

"So many books!"

Hermione couldn't help but exclaim in surprise as soon as she stepped into the library.

Jerry glanced at it and nodded in agreement.

The movie didn't particularly highlight the number of books in the library, so it felt like the Hogwarts library wasn't very big and didn't have many magic books.

But in reality, the entire library contains at least several thousand bookshelves and tens of thousands of magic books.

Indeed, the history of wizards is very long, involving various fields and categories, so how could there be few related books?

"Let's go get a library card first!"

After regaining her senses, Hermione pulled Jerry toward where the librarian, Irma Pines, was.

Hermione had already told him on the way that he needed to get a library card to read and borrow books in the library.

Also, eating any snacks is prohibited in the library, and you are not allowed to go to the restricted book area without a teacher's signed permission!

Seeing that Jerry and Hermione nodded obediently, she lightly tapped the two brand-new library cards with her wand, registered their information, and handed them over.

"The forbidden book section?"

Jerry reluctantly turned his gaze away from the rows of bookshelves marked as the forbidden section and walked with Hermione toward the regular book section to find the spellbooks they needed.

The bookshelves in the restricted section must contain many magic books that record powerful magic and potions, but without a teacher's signature and approval, they are not so easy to obtain.

He had actually considered sneaking into the library at night to steal the magic books from the forbidden section, just like he stole the Half-Blood Prince's Notebook.

However, after some consideration, I rejected this far-fetched idea.

Inside the Potions classroom, apart from some basic herbs for students to practice with, there was nothing of value. Even if he were discovered sneaking in, it wouldn't be a big deal.

Jerry thought that if he discussed the advanced spells invented by Snape with Hermione, it would shorten the time it would take her to learn them.

However, after some thought, he did not choose to do that.

It's best not to let anyone know that he secretly learned the spells for now. If it gets out, the good image he's built up will collapse.

The Hogwarts Library closes at 8 p.m.

So after agreeing to come back to read the books the next day, Jerry and Hermione each borrowed a few spellbooks using their library cards and then left the library.

However, a small incident occurred when leaving the library.

That is, they happened to run into the gloomy Professor Snape.

When Snape saw Jerry and Hermione walking out of the library, chatting and laughing, he was taken aback for a moment. Then, as if he had thought of something, he surprisingly asked them a few questions in a gentle tone, contrary to his usual behavior.

One of the questions asked him whether he and Hermione had known each other and become friends before entering Hogwarts.

Jerry thought that since he and Hermione met in Diagon Alley, they were indeed friends before entering Hogwarts, so he nodded.

To everyone's surprise, Snape was stunned when he received the answer. He sighed, patted Jerry on the shoulder, and earnestly told him not to let their friendship fade just because they weren't in the same house.

Jerry got up and left the dormitory as usual.

This time, however, he didn't go to the common room to read. Instead, he broke Hogwarts' curfew rules and sneaked upstairs.

Now he only has about thirty little red stars left, enough to last until tomorrow.

So he needs to get his hands on a flying broom before returning to the main world at midnight.
