Chapter 34 Negotiation

The Cloud Ninja demanded a culprit, while the Leaf Village refused to admit it.

This time is different from a few years ago. Previously, it was the Hyuga clan that made the move, and they fought for several years. Both sides had the intention to stop the war, but the Hidden Cloud Village was unwilling to let Konoha suffer this time.

However, this time it was Jiraiya who made the move. Konoha could not possibly hand Jiraiya over. Moreover, although Konoha lost the Uchiha clan, the other ninja clans were well preserved and were not without the ability to fight.

After several rounds of heated negotiations, Idaru's tongue was dry from talking so much, but the two sides still failed to reach an agreement.

Finally, Dateru could no longer tolerate this pointless negotiation and issued a final ultimatum to Konoha.

"Stop pretending to be confused, Third Hokage, and everyone in Konoha; hand over the murderer, or hand over Hakukumo Yosuke to Kumogakure. This is the Fourth Raikage's bottom line, and it is also Kumogakure's bottom line."

Hiruzen Sarutobi asked calmly, "What does this have to do with Yosuke Shirakumo?"

"He should have been a member of our Kumogakure village, but we wasted some time verifying the information, and you managed to bring him to Konoha first."

Dateru stated firmly, "Hand over Shirakumo Yosuke to Kumogakure, or let's go to war! Lord Raikage's stance on this is unwavering, and it has the support of all Kumogakure ninja!"

"Fine, let's start a war then! Who's afraid of who!"

Tsunade slammed her fist on the table, the loud noise startling Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was standing nearby. She then stood up and continued in an unfriendly tone, "Tell that bastard Fourth Raikage not to use war to scare people. When I joined the war, he was still learning to climb trees in his village!"

"Hmph! I will relay those words to Lord Raikage verbatim."

Idaru retorted, and that was the last time the two sides could continue their talks.

However, Nara Shikaku offered a few words of persuasion, which allowed the Cloud Ninja to stay temporarily, preventing the negotiations from completely breaking down.

Leaving the Cloud Ninja behind was not necessarily for the purpose of compromise and negotiation, but rather to buy time for preparations for war.

Konoha could not accept the Cloud Ninja's demands. They would not hand over Jiraiya, nor would they hand over Hakuun Yosuke. The more the Cloud Ninja valued Hakuun Yosuke, the less likely Konoha would give him to them.

Everyone's memories of the future are different. Who knows what the Cloud Ninja saw? Maybe Shirokumo Yosuke will do something big. If he leaves Konoha, then it will have nothing to do with them anymore.

After the Cloud Ninja envoy left, Tsunade couldn't help but ask, "Old man, what are your plans?"

"."

Hiruzen Sarutobi remained silent for a while. To be honest, he couldn't make any decisions right now; perhaps it was because he was getting old, and every decision made him have many concerns.

"Shikaku, what are your thoughts?"

"Form an alliance with the Sand Village ninja!"

Nara Shikaku spoke up, revealing a thought he had pondered for a long time. The war with the Cloud Ninja and the Iwa Ninja did not frighten them. Although the Cloud Ninja and the Iwa Ninja had many ninjas and powerful military forces, Konoha would not be destroyed by them.

What Nara Shikaku is most worried about now is the Hidden Mist Village and the Sand Village, which haven't made any moves.

Konoha can only handle two battlefields at most. If the Sand Ninja or the Hidden Mist Ninja stabs them in the back, that would be a fatal blow.

"Although Sunagakure and Kirigakure haven't made any moves yet, they would be the most uncontrollable factors should war break out. But if we form an alliance with Sunagakure, we can eliminate our worries about the rear."

After listening to Nara Shikaku's words, Sarutobi Hiruzen and the other two advisors fell into deep thought.

This is considering the worst-case scenario, but if they could form an alliance with Sunagakure, it would indeed solve a lot of problems; but whether it will succeed now depends not on them, but on what Sunagakure thinks.

Mitokado Homura spoke up, "We do intend to do so, but the Sand Village might not; they have a deep grudge against us, and there's also the Daimyo of the Land of Wind."

At this point, Mitokado Homura couldn't help but sigh; the Daimyo of the Land of Wind had entrusted all the missions to Konoha, which made Konoha very wealthy, but it also aroused great hatred in Sunagakure.

Nara Shikaku said, "We will delegate the mission to Sunagakure, cooperate with them, and even allow Sunagakure students to study in Konoha. Hokage, the two advisors, the Cloud Village's attitude is very firm. We must win over either Sunagakure or Kirigakure."

After hearing Nara Shikaku's words, Sarutobi Hiruzen also realized the importance of Sunagakure.

Although giving the mission assignment made Konoha seem a bit weak, it was worth it as long as they could win the war. Moreover, Sunagakure had agreed to form an alliance and would stand on Konoha's side from now on.

"Let's decide on that, Shikaku. We'll need you to make a trip to Sunagakure."

After thinking for a while, Hiruzen Sarutobi spoke to Shikaku Nara, and then discussed the conditions for giving to the Sand Village with Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane.

We can agree to mission requests and the opening of neutral countries, and we can also agree to exchange ninja students, but only students from the Sand Village can come to the Konoha Ninja Academy.

Nara Shikaku suddenly realized that since there had been joint Chunin Exams before, and now there was also Yosuke Hakuun, an outsider from another village, attending the school, it wouldn't be a problem to let the Sand Village students come to the Konoha Ninja Academy in order to win them over.

This proposal is not beneficial to either side. Ninja academies don't have many secrets; at most, students can learn E-rank ninjutsu. Moreover, the Sand Village won't send their top students there; they definitely wouldn't want to.

But it shows Konoha's sincerity.

In addition to forming an alliance with Sunagakure, Hiruzen Sarutobi and others also discussed war preparations. Even the surgeries Tsunade has been undergoing recently were performed by nobles from the Land of Fire and wealthy merchants.

Healing them will bring friendship, and these people will support Konoha when war breaks out.

By the time it was over, it was almost dark.

Tsunade rubbed her shoulders as she returned home. As soon as she opened the door, she smelled an enticing aroma.

Tsunade then casually kicked off her shoes and walked barefoot into the living room: "Did we have barbecue today?"

Shirokumo Yosuke came out with bowls and chopsticks and said, "Tsunade-sensei is back. Today's dish is a mixed grilled meat dish, and Shizune-senpai even bought your favorite shochu."

"Not bad!"

Tsunade's eyes lit up at the sight, and she couldn't help but sit down and enjoy the meal. A bite of meat and a cup of wine made Tsunade feel completely comfortable. This was probably the most enjoyable time she had had in the past few days.

Shizune and Shirakumo Yosuke didn't stand on ceremony and started eating.

After dinner, Shiraku Yosuke planned to train his chakra control on his own today, without needing a taijutsu sparring partner, so Tsunade and Shizune went to take a shower.

Climbing trees wasn't difficult for Shirakumo Yosuke; after a few attempts, he was able to walk upside down perfectly. Moreover, there happened to be a pond in Tsunade's backyard, so Shirakumo Yosuke started training his water walking skills today.

Once he's mastered walking on water, he'll try unleashing ninjutsu while treading water.

An hour later, Shiraku Yosuke ran out of chakra, so he ended his training and, panting, prepared to go back to his room to rest.

After Tsunade and Shizune fell asleep, he practiced the ninjutsu Orochimaru had given him in the room.
