Chapter 239 Demonization

"Tsk."

Dio clicked his tongue and suddenly exerted force with his right foot. The ground instantly cracked, and he shot upwards like an arrow.

Standing on the ruins, his sharp eyes scanned his surroundings.

But there was nothing. No blood, no footprints, not even a ripple in the air.

This is not normal. With Tanjiro's injuries being so severe, it's impossible for him to leave quietly.

Not far directly below Dio, Tanjiro held his breath and remained motionless.

A faintly glowing talisman was affixed to his chest; it was Yushiro's Blood Demon Art talisman.

The power of "Eye Concealment" completely obscured his presence, so much so that even Dio could not detect him.

A tabby cat crouched silently beside Tanjiro, its golden eyes warily fixed on the ground. Its tail swayed gently, yet made no sound.

Dior sneered: "Hidden away?"

A golden world instantly appeared behind Dio, and the Stand's fists rained down on the surrounding ruins.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Amidst a dull roar, gravel flew everywhere. Each punch struck precisely where someone might be hiding.

Suddenly, a piece of gravel grazed Tanjiro's cheek. The strong wind whipped his hair, and cold sweat slid down his face.

Dio stood amidst the ruins, scanning his surroundings, his gaze sweeping over every shadow.

A moment later, he withdrew his substitute: "It doesn't matter if I can't find him. Tanjiro is no match for my plans."

He turned to the three corpses on the ground. Dio raised his right hand, and his veins suddenly swelled, bursting forth from his body as if alive.

The dense network of blood vessels split in the air, transforming into countless tiny branches.

The blood vessels pulsated and extended into the three people's bodies, and Dio's blood invaded their bodies, injecting new life force.

"Arise, my servants!"

A moment later, Himejima Gyomei, Shinazugawa Sanemi, and Iguro Obanai opened their eyes.

"Master." The three knelt on the ground and bowed their heads in greeting.

Dio looked around: "With the power of the Demon Slayer Corps, plus my Stand ability, we have enough to deal with Muzan."

The current priority is finding Muzan. If he continues to hide in that so-called Infinity Castle, then our mission will never be completed.

"Let's go."

After a moment's thought, Dio turned and left, followed closely by the other pillars and the undead.

Once Dio's footsteps had completely disappeared, Tanjiro finally couldn't hold on any longer and slowly slid down to the ground in the crack at the other end of the pit.

Excessive blood loss began to blur his consciousness, and a chill spread from his limbs to his entire body, but he still gripped the Nichirin Blade tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force.

A cat next to him stuck out its pink tongue and gently licked Tanjiro's blood-stained cheek.

"Tsk, what a hassle."

Soon, an impatient voice rang out from the shadows, and a figure appeared.

He crouched down, examining Tanjiro's injuries. "Your injuries are so severe; wasn't it Lady Tamayo who specifically ordered you to be saved?"

The figure took out a cloth bag from his bosom and sprinkled out a special medicinal powder. The powder landed on the wound and made a slight hissing sound.

He then carefully carried Tanjiro on his back, making sure the wound wouldn't be further aggravated, and quickly left.

Soon, Tanjiro vaguely felt himself being placed on a soft bed. He could hear rustling footsteps and the soft clattering of utensils all around him.

"The injuries are too severe; ordinary treatment is too late." A gentle voice came from afar.

"Lady Tamayo! You wouldn't be thinking of..."

"There is no other way. Only that method can save his life."

"But that's too risky! What if..."

There's no time to hesitate anymore.

…………

Soon, Tanjiro's consciousness began to blur, and he fell into a strange dream.

He saw his familiar home; under the warm yellow light, his family sat around the dining table.

The mother gently served rice to everyone, Hanako happily picked out food for her younger siblings, and Mizuko was playing with her little sister.

The scene suddenly distorted. The warm light turned into a blinding crimson, and the figures of the mother and her younger siblings fell one after another, their blood spreading across the wooden floor.

"No!"

"Nezuko!" Tanjiro rushed forward and hugged his sister tightly. "Why did this happen?!"

But the next moment, an uncontrollable hunger surged from his stomach, his throat was parched and painful, and the tip of his nose was filled with the tempting smell of blood.

Tanjiro froze, slowly turning his head to see his reflection in the shattered mirror.

It was a hideous face with blood-red eyes, sharp fangs, and skin with bulging veins.

He transformed into the very thing he hated most—a ghost.

"No!"

Tanjiro suddenly woke up, panting heavily, his clothes soaked with cold sweat.

He looked around and found himself lying in a windowless room. The dim light of an oil lamp flickered on the walls, illuminating the simple furnishings.

Tanjiro lifted his clothes, revealing that the wound on his abdomen had completely healed, leaving not a single scar.

He remembered being severely injured by Dior, his internal organs were shattered.

He found the clothes lying to the side, put them on, pushed open the door, and went out. Yushiro was standing in the corridor, holding a bottle of medicine in his hand.

"Mr. Yushiro!" Tanjiro paused upon seeing the familiar figure. "Did you save me?"

Yushiro stopped in his tracks, turned around and glared fiercely at Tanjiro. Before Tanjiro could speak, Yushiro had already turned and strode away.

"Wait." Tanjiro wanted to ask more, but a familiar figure appeared at the end of the corridor.

"Miss Tamayo!" Tanjiro exclaimed in surprise.

At this moment, Tamayo's face was even paler than usual, and even her lips had lost all color. She leaned against the wall, her steps unsteady.

"Miss Tamayo, what are you doing?" Tanjiro was interrupted by Yushiro before he could finish speaking.

"If it weren't for saving you, Lady Tamayo wouldn't be in this state!" Yushiro roared angrily, his fists clenched and his whole body trembling.

"Do you know how much Lady Tamayo paid to heal your wounds?!"

Tanjiro stood frozen in place, his gaze towards Tamayo filled with shock and self-reproach.

"Yushiro." Tamayo gently raised her hand, signaling him to stop talking. She looked at Tanjiro and forced a smile. "Don't worry, I'm just a little weak. I'll be fine after a few days of rest."

"Your injuries are too severe; ordinary treatments cannot save you. I only used some special methods."

"A special method," Tanjiro muttered to himself, the nightmare from earlier flashing through his mind.

That thirst for blood, those menacing fangs, those blood-red eyes. He abruptly raised his head.

"Could it be..." He reached out, his hand trembling, and grabbed his chest.

The heart was beating abnormally slowly in the chest cavity, and the blood vessels under the skin were more visible than before.

Tanjiro rushed into the room and looked in the mirror.

"No!" Tanjiro stared at his reflection in the mirror, his eyes widening in shock. He knew those eyes all too well; they were the eyes of a demon.

He staggered back two steps until he stopped with his back against the wall. His legs could no longer support him, and he slowly slid down the wall to sit on the ground.

At that moment, Tamayo appeared at the door, with Yushiro following behind her.

"I know this is hard for you to accept." Tamayo knelt down and gently took Tanjiro's hand. "But please believe me, you are still you. No matter what you become, your heart will never change."

At this moment, Yushiro, watching Tamayo holding Tanjiro's hand, gritted his teeth.

Tamayo continued, "I used some of Dior's remaining blood, mixing it with my own, which is how you survived."

"Dio's blood?" Tanjiro was stunned.

"Yes." Tamayo nodded. "Dio's cells possess amazing vitality and regenerative abilities. I combined them with my blood to create a special transformation method."

Yushiro interjected from behind, "Lady Tamayo expended a great deal of effort to complete this experiment. Now, you are neither controlled by Muzan like ordinary demons, nor are you subject to Dio's will."

"Moreover," Tamayo paused, "the power gained through this method will far exceed that of ordinary humans. Your physical attributes, reaction speed, and recovery ability will all be greatly enhanced."

Tanjiro clenched his fists, feeling an unprecedented surge of power coursing through his body, every cell seemingly bursting with explosive energy.

"I can concoct some medicine to suppress your bloodlust," Tamayo continued, her tone tinged with concern, "but this will weaken the power you've gained."

"No need." Tanjiro suddenly raised his head, his eyes becoming firm.

"What?" Yushiro frowned at Tanjiro. "Do you know how dangerous it is for things to get out of control?"

"Lady Tamayo has already sacrificed so much for me." Tanjiro stood up. "The most important thing now is to stop Dio and Muzan. Since this power can help me achieve my goal, let me maintain this state."

At this moment, Tamayo took out a small bottle from her sleeve, which contained a dark red liquid. Tamayo handed the bottle to Tanjiro, and the blood in the bottle emitted a strange aura.

"This is Dior's blood."

Tamayo explained, "I will continue to study the characteristics of his blood and try to find a way to deal with him."

"Thank you, Ms. Tamayo." Tanjiro bowed deeply. "Without your help, I might already be..."

Just then, a burning thirst suddenly shot through his throat. It was a craving for blood. Tanjiro took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

Seeing this, Tamayo immediately stepped forward to support him: "You need to rest now. It takes time to adapt to new powers. Stay here for the next few days and wait until you have full control of the power before we talk about it again."

........................

Meanwhile, inside a certain palace.

Dio stood in the center of the hall, below him a dense crowd of people, all of whom were high-ranking members who had been transformed into undead.

"Have you found the specimen?" Dio stood by the window, his gaze sweeping over the crowd kneeling on the ground.

He raised his hand, and the person next to him took out a drawing of blue spider lilies.

"Master, we've already sent people all over the country to search for the Blue Spider Lily," a man said, his voice trembling. "But..."

"But what?" Dio turned around, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

"This flower is extremely rare, and..."

"Useless!" Dio kicked the person in front of him away. "I don't care what methods you use, find it for me! Mobilize everyone, turn all of Japan upside down!"

He turned to the others: "Remember, burn the blue spider lilies immediately after finding them, and bring back only one intact one. If anyone is found hiding any..."

Dio's lips curled into a cruel smile: "Slaughter their entire family!"

"Yes, Master!" everyone answered in unison.

Dio sneered inwardly. Although he didn't know why Muzan was looking for this flower, he was determined not to let him achieve his goal.

Since that's the case, let's cut off his hope.
