Chapter 50 Return

Fugaku Uchiha slowly opened his eyes, and what he saw was the familiar interior of the camp. Fugaku realized that the main god seemed to have teleported him back to his main tent.

The past two days have felt like a dream, hazy and unreal.

He touched his chest, where a softly glowing orb lay quietly in his arms. Its presence proved that everything was not a dream, but a real event.

"Chief, you're back!"

A voice interrupted Fugaku's thoughts. He looked up and saw an Uchiha clan ninja walking quickly towards him.

"Where have you been these past two days? The whole clan is looking for you," the ninja asked respectfully.

Fugaku composed himself, his expression returning to its usual calm and collected state. He replied casually, "I went on a secret mission; it's of great importance, and I can't go into details."

As he spoke, his gaze sharpened, and his tone became serious: "While I was away for the past two days, were there any unusual developments in the camp or on the battlefield?"

The ninja shook his head and replied, "Everything is proceeding smoothly; nothing major has happened."

Fugaku nodded and instructed, "Understood, you may leave. Report to me immediately if any emergencies arise."

After watching the ninja's figure disappear outside the tent, Fugaku finally breathed a sigh of relief and turned to walk towards the private rest room inside the tent.

He then carefully unrolled the scroll, and a huge egg appeared before his eyes. This was the Tail-Standing Rat cub he had just exchanged in the Main God Space.

Fugaku gently stroked the eggshell, a rare smile appearing on his face. According to the main god's instructions, this egg only needed to be kept warm, and it would slowly hatch into a baby tachibana.

At that moment, a small figure quietly appeared at the door of the lounge; it was Fugaku's eldest son, Uchiha Itachi.

Uchiha Itachi stood at the door, staring in disbelief at the scene before him.

At that moment, Itachi Uchiha could hardly believe his eyes. He saw his father sitting on the ground, staring intently at a huge egg in front of him, with a... a silly smile on his lips.

You should know that the father usually has an unchanging icy face, and he rarely even smiles at the mother.

But now, the father is facing a strange egg...

That rare smile left him momentarily at a loss for words.

"Father," Itachi Uchiha whispered one last time.

Upon hearing his son's voice, Fugaku immediately wiped the smile from his face. He turned around, his usual serious expression returning: "Itachi... you've come."

Itachi Uchiha's gaze fell on the enormous egg, and he couldn't help but ask, "What's that egg?"

After a moment of silence, Fugaku beckoned to Itachi Uchiha: "Come here."

Itachi walked to his father's side, crouching down to examine the peculiar egg closely. Fugaku's voice became deep and solemn: "This is a special ninja beast I found; it's related to the future of our clan. While I'm away, you must protect it well, understand?"

Uchiha Itachi looked at the peculiar egg before him. Although he didn't understand his father's intentions, he nodded solemnly and said, "Understood, Father."

And the other side

Orochimaru stood in the laboratory, his eyes fixed on the strange purplish-black fruit on the lab table, a look of inquiry in his eyes.

"Since Devil Fruits need to be eaten to take effect, the process of eating them inevitably involves chewing and cutting," Orochimaru muttered to himself, his tone thoughtful.

He reached for a scalpel, its blade gleaming coldly in the harsh white light. Orochimaru narrowed his eyes, his gaze shifting back and forth between the fruit and the scalpel.

"In that case, the fruit after being cut up should theoretically retain its original effect," he said in a low voice, a playful smile playing on his lips.

Orochimaru carefully cut off a small piece of fruit pulp and placed it on the microscope slide. He adjusted the focus, his eyes fixed on the microscope tube, carefully observing the microscopic structure of the pulp.

However, the sight that came into view made Orochimaru frown slightly.

Under a high-powered microscope, the cross-section of the fruit pulp showed absolutely no cellular structure; there were no cell walls, no nuclei, and no common organelles. The entire pulp appeared to be composed of a peculiar substance, seamlessly integrated and indistinguishable from one another.

"Interesting..." Orochimaru's eyes gleamed with curiosity, and an excited smile appeared on his lips.

Orochimaru then used various sophisticated instruments to examine the fruit's flesh, but each result only deepened his confusion. Whether through chemical analysis or physical detection, none of the instruments revealed any useful information, as if the fruit contained no known elements whatsoever.

"This is too strange," Orochimaru muttered to himself, his brow furrowed. "This fruit doesn't seem to be made of any kind of matter..."

He rested his hands on the lab table, his gaze fixed intently on the mysterious piece of fruit. Suddenly, an idea flashed through his mind.

I'm currently reading the error-free version! This is the first time I've published this novel.

"Wait, if we consider it from an energy perspective," Orochimaru's eyes lit up, as if he had grasped a crucial clue.

The next second, he stretched out his hand, and chakra began to gather at his fingertips. Blue energy swirled in his palm, gradually enveloping the fruit pulp. Initially, there was no unusual reaction.

Orochimaru narrowed his eyes slightly and began adjusting the nature of his chakra. As the nature of his chakra changed, the fruit remained dormant. But when he converted his chakra to Yin, the situation suddenly changed.

Orochimaru raised an eyebrow slightly, sensing something amiss. He heightened his senses, carefully examining the changes inside the fruit's flesh.

"This is..." Orochimaru murmured, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

In his keen perception, there seemed to be a special energy fluctuating within the fruit pulp. This energy was neither the same as common material energy nor the chakra of the ninja world. It was more ethereal and elusive, yet undeniably real.

Orochimaru slightly increased his chakra output, trying to sense this energy more clearly.

As he explored further, he gradually realized that the nature of this energy was remarkably similar to that of spiritual energy.

"Why would a Devil Fruit contain spiritual energy?" Orochimaru muttered to himself, his eyes gleaming with contemplation. This discovery completely exceeded his expectations, shattering all his previous assumptions about Devil Fruits.

He temporarily stopped chakra output, placed his hands on the lab table, and fell into deep thought. Orochimaru's brain was racing, trying to connect this new discovery with his existing knowledge.

"Spiritual energy. Could it be that the essence of Devil Fruits is not matter, but a spiritual entity that embodies a special will or concept?" Orochimaru muttered to himself, his tone tinged with uncertainty.
