Chapters 208 and 210: Orochimaru's Invitation
"It's been a long time, Jiraiya."
The cold, sinister man, bound by Jiraiya's long hair and suspended in mid-air, had long black hair draped over his shoulders that accentuated his deathly pale skin. He spoke coldly.
"Yes, it's been over fifty years since we last met, and your eyes are still as fierce as ever."
Orochimaru!
Orochimaru?!
The conversation between the lecherous sage Jiraiya and this strange man named Orochimaru left Mineko Yuuki with a subtle expression, a strong sense of déjà vu rising in her mind.
Jiraiya, Orochimaru...
A sudden flash of inspiration struck Yuuki Mineko. She finally remembered the folk tale her grandmother had told her when she was little, "The Tale of the Heroic Son Raiye," in which the main villain was a bad guy who could control poisonous snakes, named Orochimaru!
Because the etymology of Jiraiya is slightly different from that of Jiraiya, she couldn't recall it for a moment. However, the name Orochimaru suddenly turned on the switch in Yuuki Mineko's memory.
Will there be another Princess Tsunade who can control slugs next?
Mineko Yuuki couldn't help but look at Orochimaru with a curious yet scrutinizing gaze, and began to profile this mysterious man.
Judging by appearance, he is a little over 1.7 meters tall and weighs less than 60 kilograms. He is about the same age as the lecherous immortal.
His entire aura was cold and sinister. His cheeks were thin, his skin was sickly pale, and he had purple eyeshadow that extended to his nose. His pupils were pale gold and had vertical pupils like a snake.
Orochimaru seemed to sense something, and his neck twisted strangely 120 degrees, his cold gaze meeting that of Mineko Yuuki!
"Hiss! Hiss!"
In an instant, Orochimaru's body began to swell, twist and deform, snake scales grew on his face, and he transformed into a white giant snake even larger than the giant python they had encountered before. With one gulp, he swallowed the perverted sage and all of them whole!
"untie!"
Jiraiya gave a low shout and slapped Mineko Yuuki on the shoulder.
Mineko Yuki collapsed to the ground, drenched in sweat, her teeth chattering, her face blank with the lingering shock of the past.
How terrifying! How terrifying!
This person named Orochimaru doesn't seem human at all; he's more like a demon in human skin!
"Orochimaru, you have no sense of chivalry at all. You actually used genjutsu on such a delicate beauty who can't even kill a chicken." Jiraiya frowned and looked up at Orochimaru.
"Hiss hiss hiss, I only slightly, slightly scared her with my killing intent. If I had really used the Naraku-sight technique, this woman would be an idiot by now."
Orochimaru withdrew his chilling gaze, licked his lips with his long, thin tongue, and said dismissively.
"Jiraiya, I thought you'd improved a bit by being able to detect me in my concealed state. But it seems you're still as obsessed with women as ever, ouch—"
Orochimaru twisted his neck like a pretzel, rotating half a circle as he looked at the strange, enormous plants in Mount Myōboku.
"You were able to find me probably because this is your home turf, Mount Myōboku. All these years have passed, Jiraiya, and you haven't improved at all!"
"Orochimaru, how did you turn into a woman? Why are you babbling on and on? Even though your tongue is indeed very long, you can't just keep talking like a gossip."
Jiraiya picked at his ear with his right pinky finger and chuckled.
"What brings you to Mount Myōboku? Don't tell this immortal that you're here to reminisce."
"Jiraiya, I'm here to persuade you to join Akatsuki."
Orochimaru bluntly stated, "You should also know that the passage between the Celestial Realm and the Human Realm is gradually being opened. A great upheaval, unprecedented in a thousand years, is taking place. Jiraiya, someone of your strength should join forces with me to change this stagnant world!"
"Akatsuki, I didn't expect you, Orochimaru, to join this dangerous organization. Akatsuki has been making waves lately, causing quite a stir in the human world, even severely injuring Jiraiya of the Fire Temple."
Jiraiya looked thoughtfully at Orochimaru's black robe with red clouds.
"What celestial realm and mortal realm? Our world and the present world are one and the same. Only extremely stubborn old-fashioned people would use such abandoned terms as 'celestial realm and mortal realm'."
"There's nothing wrong with that statement, is there? Compared to those mortals in the human world who have forgotten the extraordinary and mysterious, what's wrong with calling us immortals, gods, and Buddhas, beings with long lifespans and great supernatural powers?" Orochimaru's tone was as high and mighty as a god.
"Heh. Orochimaru, you've changed a lot. In my memory, you weren't this arrogant madman." Jiraiya scoffed disdainfully.
"Xiao has been stirring up trouble and causing chaos in all realms. Your goal is to reunite the two separated realms and revert the world back to an era where humans and gods coexist and gods roam freely on earth, is that right?"
"Is there anything wrong with Akatsuki's philosophy?" Orochimaru asked rhetorically.
"With your abilities, you can't do something like that. If you had that kind of power, you could wage war against the entire underworld. Why would you need to hide like this?" Jiraiya said, frowning.
"Hiss, we naturally have our own plans as well," Orochimaru mumbled.
"So, your Akatsuki's frequent interference in the present world is also part of the plan?" Jiraiya asked, stroking his chin.
"You seem to be searching for something in this world?"
"Jiraiya, you know more than I thought."
Orochimaru, who was tightly bound by grayish-white hair, was somewhat surprised and said in a sinister tone.
"If you want to know more, you must join us. Jiraiya, what's your decision?"
Jiraiya stretched out a hand and shook it.
"I am the Toad Sage of Mount Myōboku, a handsome man loved by everyone. How could I possibly join an evil organization like Akatsuki and associate with you?"
"What a pity, Jiraiya. I wanted to fight alongside you again."
Jiraiya's face showed a hint of reminiscence, as if he was recalling something, but his face quickly turned cold.
"Why bring this up now? Orochimaru, after you killed our teacher, we severed all ties! I'm only sparing your life because of our years of camaraderie."
"Mount Myoboku does not welcome you, Orochimaru, you'd better get out of here."
"Before you leave, Jiraiya, shouldn't you give me some souvenirs from Mount Myōboku?"
What do you want?
Orochimaru glanced at the crowd behind Jiraiya with the cruel gaze of a venomous snake eyeing a fledgling, and licked his lips.
Everyone felt a chill run down their spines, as if something slippery and cold had crawled into their collars and was wriggling on their backs. They all lowered their heads and dared not speak.
"Those people behind you, with their worldly air that they can't hide, are all strangers who drifted up from the human world, right? Hand them over to me, and I'll leave Mount Myōboku immediately."
Yuki Mineko kept her ears perked up, eavesdropping on the conversation between the perverted sage and Orochimaru. Although the content was so bizarre that it left her completely bewildered, she still memorized it by heart.
Upon hearing that the terrifying-looking Orochimaru was demanding their group from the lecherous sage, he felt a chill run down his spine.
"Lord Jiraiya!"
Yuki Mineko, her face pale, grabbed Jiraiya's sleeve, her eyes misty with tears, a pitiful sight to behold.
"Jiraiya, I know you like women. I'm not that clueless about romance. Of these seven, you can keep the woman, and I'll take the remaining four men with me," Orochimaru said with a smile.
The bespectacled man, the yellow-haired youth, and several other men trembled with fear upon hearing this, their bodies covered in cold sweat and their hands and feet ice-cold despite it being broad daylight.
Even in another world, they still practice gender discrimination!
Can Mount Myōboku ever recover? How can we men live to satisfy you? Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. Even this other world is filled with oppression of men. When will men be able to stand up again?
The men were so frightened that their faces turned ashen, their legs trembling, and they were practically begging Jiraiya for help.
"Orochimaru, what do you need these strangers for? If I'm not mistaken, you're going to use them as anchor points to lock onto the coordinates of the present world, right?" Jiraiya said.
"That's right. By sacrificing one person at a time, I'll have four chances to descend to the human world," Orochimaru said, making no attempt to conceal his malicious intentions.
Upon hearing these words, the grown men trembled like quails, not daring to breathe.
"If that's the case, do you think I'd hand them over to you, Orochimaru?"
"So, the negotiations failed?"
Orochimaru's face showed a hint of melancholy.
"Then I'll have to do it myself!"
"I knew you wouldn't just obediently turn around and go home!"
Jiraiya's expression hardened, and his long hair, like a lion's mane, surged. Clumps of stiff hair, like steel spikes, churned and instantly shredded Orochimaru.
Upon closer inspection, it looked like a venomous snake shedding its skin and escaping; a black robe with red clouds, riddled with holes, was hidden among long, gray-white hair.
Orochimaru had somehow broken free from the shackles of the Lion's Mane Technique and appeared before Jiraiya like a ghost.
She was holding a sharp longsword and thrust it at him.
"Clang!"
Jiraiya reached out and blocked the thrust of the Kusanagi sword with the metal armor on the back of his right hand.
Then, with a powerful flick of his right hand, he forced Orochimaru back temporarily.
"All of you, get out of the way and stop getting in my way."
Jiraiya stretched out both hands, grabbed Yuki Mineko and another young woman, and skillfully threw them into the air, where they landed steadily on banana leaves more than ten meters away.
As for the remaining few stinky men, they'd better pray for themselves.
Orochimaru moved with ghostly, boneless grace, and lunged forward, raising his sword to strike.
Jiraiya took the scroll from behind him, pulled it open, pressed his hand, and summoned a large, ancient gray sword with a chain on its hilt in a cloud of smoke. He then began a melee with Orochimaru.
Mineko Yuuki lay on a banana leaf, her eyes wide open, intently watching the battlefield.
"Ping pong!"
All that could be seen were sparks from the clash of swords in the air, and blurry afterimages appearing and disappearing intermittently, with the sound of metal clashing incessantly.
The two of them were moving so fast that they were almost invisible to the naked eye.
Suddenly, a thin figure left the battlefield.
"Jiraiya, you're still as sharp as ever, managing to keep up with my speed. You always lost to me in our previous matches."
Orochimaru raised his gleaming sword and licked the blade with his long, thin tongue, without any concern that he might cut his tongue.
"Orochimaru, two hundred years have passed, why bring up those old stories? Now that we've started, I won't show you any mercy."
Jiraiya had not been at a disadvantage in their previous exchanges. His gray greatsword was covered with crisscrossing scratches.
"Jiraiya, you're still so stubborn! Even if you're holding back, the gap between us is still enormous!"
Orochimaru casually tossed the Kusanagi sword aside, formed hand seals, then puffed out his cheeks and blew hard:
"Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!"
Instantly, sand and stones flew everywhere, and Orochimaru blew out a gale from his mouth that was powerful enough to tear houses apart and overturn the earth.
The raging storm seemed poised to engulf everything, tearing it to shreds!
Even from tens of meters away, Mineko Yuki felt a strong wind pressure descending. She involuntarily raised her hand to shield her eyes, then squinted and strained to look ahead.
"Fire Release: Flame Bullet!"
Not to be outdone, Jiraiya opened his mouth wide and unleashed a powerful burst of fire, creating a ball of fire over ten meters in diameter that burned fiercely.
"boom!"
A deafening roar, like a massive explosion!
The intense scorching waves and wind pressure suddenly exploded, turning into powerful shockwaves that swept in all directions, uprooting the surrounding plants.
After a few breaths of stalemate, the wind fanned the flames, and Jiraiya's breath of fire suppressed Orochimaru's storm!
The flames resembled a swirling, burning sea of clouds, swirling back and engulfing Orochimaru within them.
The fire not only burned the huge plants to ashes, but also scorched a crater more than ten meters in diameter in the ground.
"Did we win?"
Mineko Yuuki couldn't help but feel a surge of joy. She had been on tenterhooks ever since, fearing that if the Perverted Immortal were defeated, the fate of these strangers would be dire.
"Boom!"
As if an earth dragon were turning over, the earth suddenly trembled violently, the leaves of the giant plants in Mount Myōboku rustled, and the dew accumulated on the leaves rolled down, causing a torrential rain.
One after another, enormous, multicolored giant pythons emerged from the soil, flicking their tongues and staring emotionlessly at the tiny humans below with their huge, serpentine eyes.
The 15-16 meter long python, which was like a Titanoboa, looked like an underdeveloped little snake in front of these giant pythons.
These five or six giant pythons were all several times larger than it!
Looking at these colossal pythons that resembled towering skyscrapers rising from the ground, Mineko Yuuki couldn't help but recall the terror of being dominated by giant reptiles in ancient times.
"Earth Release·Yellow Spring Marsh!"
