Chapters 275 & 276: The Hyuga Clan and the Sealing Arrow
"Miss Yuhuo, why did you do this?" Hirota Tulio asked in a hoarse voice as he looked at Yuhuo.
A mixture of shame, self-reproach, and guilt crossed Yuhuo's face. He then coldly said to Yakushi Kabuto:
"Outsider, I've done as you asked. Where's the magic you promised to turn me into a human?"
"Of course, I won't go back on my word."
Kabuto Yakushi pulled an ancient-looking scroll from his sleeve and tossed it over from a distance, a strange glint in his eyes.
"The path to salvation lies within it."
Yu Huo awkwardly took the reel, his hands trembling, his face showing a mixture of hope and anxiety, and he eagerly unrolled the reel.
With just one glance, Yu Huo's expression was filled with shock, and his face turned extremely ugly.
She looked down in disbelief, her gaze shifting up and down several times, until the last glimmer of hope in her heart was extinguished.
"This...this isn't what we agreed on!"
Yuhu looked at Yakushi Kabuto and questioned him, his voice filled with barely suppressed anger.
Kabuto, seemingly oblivious, adjusted his round glasses and chuckled:
"Miss Fisherman, how can you turn the tables on me? This Reincarnation Technique, isn't it supposed to turn you back into a human?"
"What I want is to shed the demon blood within me and become human, not to use this evil practice to seize someone else's body!"
"Miss Yuhuo, you should have said this sooner. If you have anyone to blame, it's that you didn't explain it clearly. I kept my promise."
Kabuto spread his hands, his smile still gentle, but there was a hint of mockery in his voice.
"Damn it! How dare you lie to me!"
Yuhuo's eyes were almost spitting fire, and its body was covered with fish scales, turning it into a strange half-human, half-fish creature as it pounced on Yakushi Kabuto.
"And your half-demon!"
"A half-demon? You mean Suzuki Kimie? Unfortunately, you've misunderstood again; it's not like you."
Kabuto remained calm, forming a hand seal with both hands and then bringing them together; a black array of runes flashed by.
Spiritual communication!
A woman with thick, long hair like seaweed and octopus tentacles appeared in front of Kabuto Yakushi.
The octopus's tentacles suddenly shot out, tightly binding the fishing light and suspending it in mid-air.
"Having done such a thing to the priestess, I have no place left to hide on Hourai Island..."
Tears welled up in Yu Huo's eyes.
"Miss Yuhuo, I have never lied from beginning to end. It's just wishful thinking on your part."
"You bastard! You lied to me!"
Yuhuo was so angry that his lips trembled, and he angrily cursed at Yakushi Kabuto.
Kabuto smiled, and with a flick of his octopus tentacles, he brought Yuhi to him. Kabuto then delivered a palm strike to Yuhi's neck.
"Miss Yuhuo, you're too noisy, go take a nap."
The octopus loosened its grip, dropping the unconscious Yuhuo onto the ground. Yakushi Kabuto glanced at it indifferently before walking towards the Hourai Shrine Maiden.
"Kabuto Yakushi, aren't you going too far?!"
Hirota Turi looked at Yakushi Kabuto with righteous indignation and blurted out.
Kabuto Yakushi actually took advantage of Miss Yuuki's wish to return to human form, using her as a tool to kill someone and plot against the Hourai Shrine Maiden. He was utterly despicable and shameless.
"Oh dear, Mr. Hirota, you think too badly of me. I had no choice but to do it."
"Ikushi Kabuto said with a smile."
But Hirota Turi felt a chill run down his spine; he could sense that the fake smile was nothing more than a disguise by Yakushi Kabuto.
"Don't worry, I promised Miss Yuhuo I wouldn't hurt anyone. You guys have all played a part in causing the chaos. Now just behave yourselves, since you can't do anything anyway, can you?"
Hirota Turi's face turned pale and then red, and in the end he could only hang his head and shut his mouth in dejection. Just as Yakushi Kabuto said, he was indeed powerless to change the current situation.
A gentle breeze swept through the mountains, causing the banners in front of the photography studio to flutter in the wind.
Kabuto stared at the red spiral magatama pattern pointing upwards within the yellow circle on the banner for a few moments, then hesitated before tentatively saying:
"My lady, this is the Hyuga clan's crest, isn't it?"
"Your knowledge and experience are truly exceptional."
The witch of Penglai closed her eyes and spoke calmly.
"You flatter me, Priestess. In my search for the elixir of immortality, I have delved deeply into many ancient texts and learned some hidden secrets. It seems you are from the Hyuga clan, no wonder..."
Kabuto glanced thoughtfully at the Hyuga Shrine Maiden's eyes, which had remained closed throughout, and said.
An octopus tentacle extended and snatched the Hourai Jade Branch from the Hyuga Shrine Maiden's hand, handing it to Yakushi Kabuto.
"This is a creation of Yin and Yang."
Hinata Shrine Maiden tilted her head towards the octopus girl Suzuki Kimie, revealing a hint of surprise.
"As expected of the Hyuga clan, their eyesight is as sharp as a candle."
The pharmacist nodded.
"When Miss Yuhuo first met Suzuki, she mistook him for a half-demon, and that's why I was able to lower Miss Yuhuo's guard."
Kabuto caressed the golden jade branch of Hourai in his hand with the caress of a precious jewel, a fiery glint flashing in his calm eyes:
"For me, a physician, my greatest wish is to obtain the legendary elixir of immortality. Today, I can finally have my wish fulfilled. As long as the priestess hands over the elixir of immortality, I will turn around and leave, and never bother the peace of Penglai Island again."
"The elixir of immortality does not exist here."
Hinata Shrine Maiden lowered her eyes and spoke in a flat, emotionless voice.
"How is this possible!?"
Yakushi Kabuto frowned, picked up the Hourai Jade Branch, and said:
"I followed the guidance of the Jade Branch of Penglai and went through great lengths to reach the immortal Penglai. How could there not be an elixir of immortality?"
"The jade branch of Penglai does not refer to Penglai. Going to sea to seek the elixir of immortality is tantamount to going south when you want to go north."
Her snow-white skin, exposed to the elements, was covered with runes from the Golden Binding Technique, adding an unusual allure. Even so, the Hyuga Shrine Maiden's face remained expressionless as she spoke in a cold voice.
"The elixir of immortality was taken by our ancestors long ago, even before a thousand years ago."
"The ancestors of the Hyuga clan? Could it be...?"
Hearing the seemingly genuine tone of the Hyuga priestess, Kabuto Yakushi's expression changed, and then he frowned, unable to help but ponder.
"You should have read 'The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter' as well," the Hyuga shrine maiden said calmly.
"My lady, this is only your side of the story. What evidence do you have?"
Believe it or not, that's all I have to say.
The pharmacist's expression shifted between anger and uncertainty, until finally he gritted his teeth and a ruthless glint flashed in his eyes.
"In that case, Lady Shrine Maiden, please forgive my offense."
A thick octopus tentacle coiled around the immobilized Hyuga Shrine Maiden, and at the same time, the Hyuga Shrine Maiden finally opened her closed eyes.
These are a pair of dazzling and dreamlike eyes.
Within their pale pupils, as if containing stars, a noble and magnificent purple halo radiated.
"These eyes! Byakugan, no, something even more... Tenseigan?"
Yakushi Kabuto exclaimed in disbelief.
An unimaginable aura of majesty emanated from the Hyuga Shrine Maiden, and the golden binding spell mark on her skin melted away with the ice and snow. With a swift grab of her slender hand, she drew the bow and arrows from the ground into her grasp.
The Hyuga priestess, gripping the longbow, had the same expression as before, but her aura was completely different.
With each blink of her purple eyes, an indescribable divine quality spread across her pretty face.
The movements of drawing the bow and arrow were fluid and graceful, so beautiful that they were a delight to behold.
The next instant, an arrow was launched towards Kabuto Yakushi.
Although it appeared to be just an ordinary arrow, Kabuto Yakushi keenly sensed danger and darted behind the octopus girl, Kimie Suzuki, with the agility of a dragon and snake.
"Quick, protect me!"
Octopus Girl Suzuki Kimie's body suddenly swelled up dozens or even hundreds of times as if it had been inflated, transforming into a giant octopus sea monster wielding barrel-thick tentacles.
However, even the giant octopus's mountain-sized body could not withstand the arrow that was wrapped around Yingying and whose spiritual light arrived in an instant like a shooting star.
Several thick octopus tentacles were swiftly severed, and the white light disappeared into the octopus monster's head.
An arrow pierced Suzuki Kimie's shoulder, dragging her body out of the octopus monster and pinning her to a large tree.
Then the octopus monster's remains and tentacles began to turn to ash and scatter with the wind.
"You actually severed the psychic contract between me and it!"
Hiding behind the octopus monster, Kabuto Yakushi glanced at Suzuki Kimie, who was pinned to the tree and motionless, and then looked at Hinata Shrine Maiden with lingering fear, a few beads of cold sweat appearing on his forehead.
It's a sealing arrow!
If it weren't for Kimie Suzuki acting as a scapegoat, I would have been the one sealed away and asleep.
"What a terrifying arrow! There's probably no one left that can block it."
The Hyuga Shrine Maiden remained silent, her purple eyes as majestic as a god's. Once again, she drew her bow and nocked an arrow, the radiant light of spiritual energy gathering on the arrowhead.
"Perhaps the elixir of immortality is not on Penglai Island, but I will not give up easily. As for 'The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter,' I already have some ideas."
Yakushi Kabuto crouched on the ground and forced a smile.
Until we meet again.
The next second, Kabuto's body seemed to vanish into thin air, disappearing from the spot in a bizarre manner.
"Reverse psychic techniques."
The Hyuga shrine maiden frowned slightly, closed her purple Tenseigan, and then gracefully turned around.
"Miko-sama!"
Hirota Tulio and the foreign woman, along with several others, quickly prostrated themselves on the ground, not daring to even breathe.
"The uninvited guests have left; you should all leave as well," the Hyuga Shrine Maiden said calmly.
"I wonder how the priestess intends to deal with Miss Yuhuo?"
Hirota Tulio looked at Yuhuo, whose eyes were still rolling down even in his unconscious state, and couldn't help but feel a little heartbroken. He mustered up his courage and asked a question.
"Please forgive my boldness, but Miss Yuhuo was merely deceived. She had no intention of betraying the priestess. Please have mercy on her."
You need not worry about it.
The Hyuga Shrine Maiden turned her face to Suzuki Kimie, the octopus girl nailed to a tree. Although her eyes were closed, she possessed a mysterious quality that could see into people's hearts.
"I also lack a few maids to clean and sweep the shrine, so this is a small punishment to serve as a warning."
Hirota Tulio breathed a sigh of relief; it was so kind of the priestess to be so magnanimous.
This might be the best outcome for Miss Yuhuo.
"Oh no!"
Hirota Tulio raised his wrist, glanced at his watch, and was instantly terrified.
It took them four hours to get from the beach to the shrine, over mountains and valleys. They encountered several setbacks along the way and spent a lot of time. Now they have less than three hours left before they have to leave Penglai Island.
Without considering the potential dangers on the return journey and the preparations for crossing the sea to the island, even riding at top speed, it would be impossible to get back to the beach from here.
"There is a lake behind the shrine. You can leave Penglai safely by taking a small boat."
Just as she had foreseen before, the Hyuga Shrine Maiden understood Hirota Turi's concerns and pointed towards the back mountain.
"Go."
Hirota Tulio and his group didn't dare to say anything more. They helped the half-asleep, long-haired woman up and quickly went around to the back of the mountain.
Sure enough, behind the mountain, you can see a large lake as calm and clear as a mirror.
After descending the mountain, we discovered a simple dock on the shore of the lake, with a wooden boat moored there.
There was still some moss on the deck of the wooden boat, indicating that it was quite old, but it still looked quite sturdy.
After Hirota Tulio, the foreign woman, and the young couple boarded the wooden boat, they were immediately dumbfounded because there were no oars and they didn't know how to steer it.
But to their surprise, after the four boarded the boat, it started moving on its own without any wind, heading towards the center of the lake.
Having witnessed too many incredible things on Penglai Island, Hirota Tulio and his group were not surprised, but they were still uneasy.
The white mist on the lake began to dissipate, and soon it became so thick that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, but the wooden boat remained completely unaffected, moving at a steady pace.
Time ticked by, and Hirota Tulio couldn't help but glance at his watch; two hours had already passed.
He didn't know where he was. The white fog obscured his vision, making it seem like a silent and still world, which made him feel uneasy.
"Thump!"
Suddenly, a dark, wet, unidentified object clung to the deck.
This startled everyone.
"Tulio!"
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Antonio, a Black man.
"Antonio, what are you doing here?"
"I was on the beach when I saw a wooden boat heading out to sea, so I jumped in and swam over. I didn't expect it to be you guys," Antonio, the black man, said with a thumbs-up, revealing his pearly white teeth.
Hirota Tulio couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. Was this a case of fools having good luck?
Before long, the wooden boat seemed to have passed through something; the fog instantly disappeared, and a vast expanse of sea and a sky full of stars appeared before it.
Two large warships cut through the sea and headed menacingly toward the wooden boat.
