I became Hokage in Tokyo

Chapters 456 and 457: The Four-Tailed Monkey King

Chapters 456 and 457: The Four-Tailed Son Goku

Yellowstone National Park, located on the border of Wyoming and Idaho, United States.

Yellowstone, the world's most famous supervolcano, is located here. As a result, the national park is full of geysers, hot springs, steam pools, hot water pools, and other geothermal features.

A team of more than a dozen people from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), carrying various surveying instruments, trekked through the rugged, barren land.

"It's so hot! Even the asphalt has melted into a paste, forcing us to run errands."

A brown-haired Caucasian woman with ruddy skin took off her coat and draped it over her shoulder, wiped away her sweat, and complained.

"Melissa, we were actually quite lucky; the last stretch of road was the only part where we couldn't drive."

The middle-aged Black man with a thick beard, who was leading the group, grinned and comforted them:

"Just five more minutes and we'll reach the designated testing location."

As the only woman among a group of rough men, the brown-haired woman still enjoyed preferential treatment; apart from her own backpack, she did not need to carry heavy equipment like the others.

Even so, the brown-haired woman was exhausted.

After getting off the car, my clothes went from wet to dry countless times, leaving me utterly exhausted.

The air was filled with the distinctive sulfurous smell of rotten eggs characteristic of volcanic areas.

Looking around, the volcanic area was a very monotonous landscape, with bare, barren walls everywhere, a completely desolate place. The ground was also riddled with trap-like cracks; if you were to step into one, half your leg would sink in.

"Captain, isn't something wrong?"

One of the young team members licked his lips, his mouth dry, and said, "Isn't it too hot? I came here at this time last year, and it was even hotter than summer."

It's the second half of September now, the weather is crisp and clear, even Yellowstone National Park shouldn't be this sweltering.

"The situation is indeed somewhat unusual; otherwise, the higher-ups wouldn't have sent us to survey the state of Yellowstone," the Black man said slowly, frowning.

Iceland experienced 1400 earthquakes in 24 hours, forcing the evacuation of all residents from the Reykjavik Peninsula, and a volcano erupted in Iceland within the Arctic Circle…

A massive blizzard swept through several countries along the Black Sea...

Massive wildfires erupt on Maui, Hawaii...

Since the appearance of the blood moon last week, abnormal weather has occurred around the world, with natural disasters caused by extreme weather occurring one after another.

Rumors of the end of the world spread like wildfire.

The U.S. government, which has more inside information than other countries, is naturally more worried and has sent people to various volcanic areas across the country to investigate potential hazards.

Their team was sent to survey the current state of the Yellowstone volcano.

"Three years ago, when Mount Fuji erupted in Japan, I was traveling in Tokyo. The flames from the summit could be seen from inside the city."

Melissa's face paled, and she looked around in surprise and doubt, saying:

"It's so hot here, could the Yellowstone volcano really be about to erupt?"

"Hmph, that's hard to say! The power of Yellowstone is far greater than that of the effeminate Mount Fuji."

If Yellowstone is a burly WWE professional wrestler, then Mount Fuji is nothing more than a delicate geisha; they're not even in the same league.

Only volcanoes with an eruption volume reaching the highest level (VEI-8) can be called supervolcanoes.

Yellowstone volcano has had three major eruptions in the past two million years, the most recent two being VEI-8, one 130 million years ago and the other 64 years ago.

"Yellowstone volcano harbors super energy capable of destroying the Earth. If it erupts, it will be truly devastating! The entire United States will be..." The young man winked at Melissa, making a serious show of his boasting.

"Mark, shut up! Are you a primary school student? Why do you like teasing newbies so much?"

The black captain glared at the young man with a stern face, while the latter stuck out his tongue, shrugged, and looked completely innocent.

Don't listen to his nonsense.

The Black man turned his head, a smile appearing on his dark face, and said in a friendly tone:

"The last eruption of Yellowstone was 600,000 years ago. How could it possibly erupt as soon as we arrive? The probability of that is even smaller than the probability of a dozen of us winning the lottery together."

Even so, a hidden worry still flashed in the eyes of the black man.

The most recent VEI-8 volcanic eruption on Earth was the Taupo volcano in New Zealand 2.7 years ago.

Even back then, the supervolcano failed to wipe out humanity, which was still in its primitive stage. Today, it is unrealistic to expect a supervolcano to destroy human civilization or even completely destroy the United States.

However, if Yellowstone erupts in a major eruption, the worst-case scenario would be that it would affect the United States west of the Mississippi River, turning it into a no-man's land.

Thousands of cubic kilometers of volcanic ash will blanket the globe through the atmosphere, potentially leading to a decade-long period without summer. Massive crop failures, famine, and disease-induced disasters will sweep the world.

"This is strange, it shouldn't be this hot. I can't take it anymore..."

"Water! Does anyone have any water left? Give me a sip, my throat is parched."

The group walked a distance further, and the intense heat in the air made them groan incessantly.

The black captain was soaked through. He shook a handful of sweat from his face onto the ground, and the sweat evaporated instantly.

This unusually high temperature is indeed quite strange.

Does this mean that the Yellowstone volcano has indeed entered an active period?

The black man couldn't help but feel discouraged, but he knew he couldn't explain his departure to his superiors if he went back empty-handed and dejected.

The tone of the person issuing the task was very stern, and he didn't want to be caught in the crossfire.

"Everyone, give it your all! We're almost at the detection point. After we finish this, I'll treat you all to a night of drinks at the Golden Rose Bar in the city—we'll drink until we drop!" At this point, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and go for it.

"Great, boss, you're so straightforward!"

The black captain was somewhat respected in the team, and the cheers from the crowd helped to restore some of their morale.

Unlike ordinary volcanoes such as Mount Fuji, Yellowstone is not characterized by a distinct volcanic cone. Instead, it is a flat plateau. Due to the immense power of its historical eruptions, the mountain was destroyed by the impact of the eruptions, leaving behind a crater-like crater on the surface.

There are hundreds of calderas like these, large and small, that resemble scars on the earth, throughout Yellowstone National Park.

The panting geological exploration team finally overcame the obstacles of high temperature and terrain and climbed to the edge of a large caldera, below which was a volcanic lake covering hundreds of hectares.

Countless bubbles rose from the lake, and the sulfurous smell in the air was so strong that it made my nose itch.

"We've finally arrived."

Seeing this, the black captain finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Next, we'll collect samples from the volcanic lake, record the data, and quickly meet the task targets before heading home to enjoy an ice-cold beer.

"Look! The moon! The moon is out!"

Just then, someone suddenly started shouting in panic.

How could there be a moon during the day? Has Mark's brain been blown out of shape by the hot wind?

The black man, his face dark, was about to reprimand someone when his eyes involuntarily glanced up at the sky.

Under a clear blue sky, a crimson moon radiated an eerie, scarlet glow.

"boom!"

The ground suddenly trembled violently, and everyone swayed. Someone in the group stumbled and fell heavily to the ground.

"What's going on?! Is it an earthquake?"

Suddenly, terrifying heat spread upwards from the soil and rock layers, making the already scorching air seem to burn.

Everyone felt as if they were being roasted on a furnace, their bodies being mercilessly evaporated, leaving them as charred corpses.

The volcanic lake became murky and muddy, and then large swaths of water vapor evaporated, drying up almost half of it in an instant.

"Oh no! Yellowstone is really going to erupt!"

The black captain sniffed; the sulfurous smell in the air was so strong it seemed like it could be ignited by a single match, and his expression changed drastically.

"Run! Run back to the car! Throw everything away!"

The black man, his face contorted with rage and his eyes bloodshot, roared at his stunned teammates.

The others suddenly realized what was happening and, without a care, threw their heavy equipment haphazardly on the ground and scrambled backward.

As they climbed over the caldera, the Black captain quickly looked back and was immediately terrified.

The volcanic lake has been completely evaporated, and the underground slope is still cracking, spewing out huge, crisscrossing fissures, with fiery red and scorching magma gushing out from the deepest part!

"boom!"

"boom!"

The earth tremors grew increasingly terrifying, as if the sky were collapsing and the earth were splitting apart. Everyone's mind went blank, and they instinctively rushed downwards.

Shedding their previous burdens, coupled with the frenzied release of adrenaline in the face of life and death, they squeezed out all their potential and physical strength.

The entire geological exploration team escaped unharmed to the vehicle they had been standing in front of.

They started their engines and drove off, eager to escape.

After getting a chance to catch their breath, they were able to barely regain some of their senses. When they looked back at the crater they had just seen, they felt a chill run down their spines.

The crater, which originally resembled a slightly protruding meteorite crater, is now filled with dazzling red lava. Boiling red lava overflows like a flood bursting its banks, flowing down the slope and splitting the mountain in two.

If they had escaped even a fraction of a second later, they would be submerged in the lava lake now, not even a bone fragment would be left.

"Boom boom boom!"

Before he could even feel relieved to have survived, the black captain's eardrums were ringing from the shock.

With a tremendous roar, fireballs and molten lava erupted from the crater, billowing smoke and dust soaring into the sky, almost shattering it.

"It's true, Yellowstone volcano really erupted!"

The black captain's face was as pale as a white man's, his hands trembling, and he had to brace himself against the back of the chair to keep from collapsing.

"It is imperative, it is imperative to report this to our superiors immediately!"

He took out his phone, intending to make a call, but his fingers moved uncontrollably, and he entered the wrong numbers several times.

"Awooo—!"

Just then, Yellowstone National Park shook violently once again, and the geological exploration team's convoy was tossed about like a small boat in a raging storm, almost resulting in a fatal accident.

This deafening roar was not the earth's anger, but rather the sound of some enormous creature roaring from underground, beating its war drums.

Something terrifying is awakening within the volcano, its overwhelming and destructive power spreading and descending upon Yellowstone National Park in an instant.

"Clap clap clap".

"Waaaaah!"

Outside Yellowstone National Park, wild animals such as moose, bison, and bighorn sheep sensed impending doom and scattered like birds and beasts, scrambling to escape for their lives.

"Awooo!"

The roar, like that of a colossal beast, contained unparalleled divine power. The members of the geological survey team suddenly felt as if they were flickering candlelight in a storm, their souls about to be blown away.

"What, what is this?!"

The black captain, leaning over the car and looking back, gasped in shock, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.

But no one could answer his question; everyone's face was filled with fear and bewilderment, their legs trembling and their teeth chattering.

The gods within the volcano have awakened!

In the lava lake formed by the caldera, amidst the billowing dust, the outline of a huge shadow gradually emerges.

The monster was as huge as a mountain, its entire body was crimson, and it had the appearance of a giant ape with horns on its head.

Behind the red giant ape were four tails that resembled pillars supporting the sky, churning the lava lake.

Four-tailed beast, Sun Wukong!

"Awooooo!"

With the roar of the four tails, magma from deep within the earth's crust splashed like rain, shooting up thousands of meters into the sky.

The giant beast roared and slammed its fist down, splitting the earth into pieces and creating a massive crack that reached deep into the ground.

The surging waves of lava, overwhelming and destructive, swept across everything with the force to destroy the world.

No one can withstand the behemoth that has become the embodiment of natural disaster!

This is absolute violence that no human intelligence can match!

This is the end of the world.

-

"It's the power of the tailed beasts."

Far across the ocean in Tokyo, as the anti-membrane enveloped Uchiha Naruto and the others and slowly rose into the sky, he seemed to sense something and looked eastward.

When the fifth Crimson Moon descended, as if by telepathy, Uchiha Naruto sensed a terrifying calamity appearing thousands of miles away.

"This aura... is it the Four-Tailed Son Goku...?"

It calls itself the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, the Monkey King, lives in the Water Curtain Cave, and is a tailed beast that can use Lava Release and possesses unparalleled strength.

"How interesting. The power of the tailed beasts is attracting me, and I am also attracting the tailed beasts."

A thoughtful look flashed in Uchiha Naruto's eyes, and a half-smile appeared on his face.

As the Crimson Moon appeared more and more frequently, Naruto Uchiha could sense that this was unfolding as if it were destiny.

"The first tailed beast has appeared; will the others be far behind?"

In fact, before the Four-Tails awakened in Yellowstone Park along with the Crimson Moon, Naruto Uchiha had a vague premonition.

"Shukaku, Gyūki, Kurama, and the other tailed beasts, I'm really looking forward to it."

-

"There are nine of these monsters in total!?"

A furious outburst of angry shouts erupted from the White House offices in Washington:

"Fake news!"
