Parallel universe?

When Ronan brought up the concept, it made Strange frown.

"Where, are you the future Sorcerer Supreme?"

Strange hesitated for a moment and looked at Ronan.

Ronan smiled and nodded, saying, "You are still the world-renowned surgeon, and as far as I know, in my universe, you won't be involved in that bizarre car accident."

Ronan is simply the only one among billions of parallel universes who "went wrong".
