Chapter 5

Konoha was engaged in a four-front war, with Hiruzen Sarutobi leading the Konoha high command in charge of the overall war effort and formulating strategic plans.

Orochimaru is serving as the frontline commander in the battle between Kumogakure and Konoha. Kumogakure has already broken through the Land of Hot Water and stationed troops on the border of the Land of Fire.

The battlefields of Konoha, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure in the Land of Rain and the Land of Grass were commanded by Jiraiya and Tsunade, who served as the frontline commanders.

Although Tsunade suffers from hemophobia, she still has no problem being a commander.

Moreover, Tsunade, as one of the top, even the number one, medical ninjas in the ninja world, is not without ways to treat hemophobia.

Tsunade can use top-tier medical ninjutsu to adjust her retinitis pigmentosa nerves and her sense of smell.

In this way, the bright red blood will change color in Tsunade's eyes, and she will not be able to smell the blood, allowing her to participate in battle normally.

Of course, this kind of treatment takes time. In the original story, things happened too suddenly before the battle between the three Sannin, and Tsunade did not have time to use medical ninjutsu to make careful adjustments.

The battlefield between Konoha and Kirigakure was commanded by the heads of the Uchiha and Hyuga clans.

During this period, the heads of the Uchiha and Hyuga clans were not Fugaku Uchiha and Hiashi Hyuga, but their fathers.

The Hidden Mist Battlefield is also the most unique of the four battlefields. While other battlefields are dominated by civilian ninjas with clan ninjas as secondary, the Hidden Mist Battlefield is dominated by clan ninjas with civilian ninjas as secondary.

The battlefield of Kirigakure is also located within the Land of Fire. Kirigakure has already occupied the Land of Whirlpools. During World War I and World War II, the battlefields between Konoha and Kirigakure were both within and near the Land of Whirlpools.

The Third Shinobi World War was arguably the most dangerous war Konoha had ever faced. Defeat on any front would trigger a chain reaction, leading to a complete collapse.

Because of his Flying Thunder God Technique, Minato Namikaze often acts as a troubleshooter, frequently traveling between various battlefields, primarily the most powerful Kumogakure and Iwagakure battlefields.

Now that Konoha Village is under attack, how could Minato Namikaze not rush back?

As a powerful weapon capable of instantly killing fifty Iwagakure ninjas, its entry into the battlefield was an act of breaking the balance and turning the tide of the battle.

Because the battlefield was so wide, Minato Namikaze didn't waste time supporting other ninjas, but went directly to the place where the fighting was most intense.

That place was located on the mountainside of Kikyo Mountain, where ten Jonin from Kumogakure and Sunagakure were besieging Hiruzen Sarutobi.

For this surprise attack on Konoha, neither the Hidden Cloud Village nor the Sand Village sent out Kage-level ninjas, but instead dispatched a large number of Jonin.

The reason for this is twofold: firstly, to keep the Kage-level shinobi at the front lines at bay and prevent them from returning to reinforce the area.

Secondly, the two villages dared not take the risk, as they were unclear about the level of the forces remaining in Konoha.

If the forces remaining in Konoha are too strong, it will be difficult to escape Konoha's encirclement and pursuit in the heart of the Land of Fire.

A Kage-level expert is someone who suppresses the village's foundation; losing one would be a huge loss.

A Kage-level ninja is more valuable than several Jonin. Under normal circumstances, it takes six or seven Jonin to compete with a Kage-level ninja.

A single Jonin facing a Kage-level powerhouse would at most last a few rounds before being killed, demonstrating the significant difference in strength.

Ten Jonin working together well are enough to hunt down a Kage-level powerhouse.

Unfortunately, these Jonin were facing Hiruzen Sarutobi at his peak, whose physical abilities, combat experience, and mastery of the three techniques of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu were all at their best!

Hiruzen Sarutobi fought ten opponents without getting injured; in fact, he had the upper hand, while the four Jonin were the ones who were wounded.

If they keep fighting, as long as Hiruzen Sarutobi doesn't make any mistakes, he'll eventually be able to defeat these ten Jonin.

Killing them all would be difficult; Jonin are no pushovers. If they scatter and escape, Hiruzen Sarutobi really wouldn't be able to take them all down.

The relatively balanced situation was broken after Minato Namikaze arrived.

As a ninja, Minato Namikaze naturally wouldn't talk about martial ethics; it's not the style of a ninja to not seize an opportunity to launch a sneak attack.

The Flying Thunder God Technique, a space-time ninjutsu, is incredibly terrifying when used for a sneak attack. Caught completely off guard, four Jonin were instantly killed by Minato Namikaze with their throats slit.

There were only ten Jonin in total who were being surrounded and killed, and four of them died instantly, causing the situation to collapse drastically.

Seizing the enemy's momentary lapse in concentration, Hiruzen Sarutobi created four shadow clones and unleashed his ultimate technique, the Five Elements Great Barrage, annihilating five Jonin.

The last surviving Cloud Village Jonin, regaining his senses, was terrified and tried to escape, but was then killed by Minato Namikaze.

Hiruzen Sarutobi and Minato Namikaze exchanged a few words quickly, and then Minato headed towards Kikyo Castle.

Hiruzen Sarutobi, along with his shadow clones, went to support the others.

Because the combined forces of Kumogakure and Sunagakure outnumbered Konoha, Konoha was unable to keep all enemies outside the village. As a result, some enemies had already invaded Kikyo Castle and destroyed many buildings.

Some Konoha ninja are engaged in a fierce battle with ninja from the two villages at Kikyo Castle, preventing the enemy from penetrating deeper into Konoha and causing further destruction.

With Minato Namikaze's support and Hiruzen Sarutobi's intervention, the balance of power in the Battle of Kikyo Mountain has tilted in Konoha's favor; victory is only a matter of time.

Uchiha Gen was unaware that Namikaze Minato had arrived and was diligently hunting down ninjas, reaping their souls and lifespans.

Although the lifespan gained from the Soul-Soul Fruit cannot be applied to oneself, it can serve as a source of power for the Homies.

Plant-based Homies are fine because they can draw power from their own sources, but Homies formed from inanimate objects cannot.

As for human corpses, Soul-Soul Fruit users cannot infuse them with souls, nor can they infuse them with souls into living people.

After reaping the souls of seven people, Uchiha Gen hunted down ninjas with increasing ease, devising new and more efficient methods.

Gen Uchiha imbued the omnipresent trees in the forest with souls, bringing many of them to life.

The area where these large trees are located is Uchiha Gen's hunting grounds. Those who intrude and those who are introduced are all drained of their souls and lifespan and die.

The battle was going well, and suddenly the still tree came to life and launched a sneak attack. Who could withstand that?

At least the Chunin and Genin of Sunagakure and Kumogakure were no match for them; they were all tricked by Uchiha Gen, the sixth brother.

Uchiha Gen simply wandered around his own hunting grounds or their edges, without offering any assistance. Not only was he extremely safe, but he also reaped considerable rewards!

They just held on like that until the afternoon when the Sunagakure and Kumogakure allied forces were defeated, with some surrendering and others fleeing.

However, it's not easy for Sunagakure and Kumogakure ninjas to survive. They not only have to withstand the pursuit of Konoha ninjas in their villages, but also have to be hunted down by Konoha ninjas who come back from the front lines.

It's not easy to launch a surprise attack on Konoha Village deep in the Land of Fire; it's even harder to leave alive.

It would be difficult for even a double-digit number of the allied forces to escape, as Konoha Village has many ninjas skilled in search and capture.

Taking advantage of the allied forces' defeat, Uchiha Gen ruthlessly slaughtered the panicked allied ninja.

Once the ninjas lost their composure, they were basically unable to escape the sudden sneak attacks of the Homies, who resembled tree spirits, and were all bound tightly.

Uchiha Gen only needs to harvest them one by one, and incidentally take back the souls and lifespans given to the Great Tree.

These are all tool trees, and they cannot be wasted when the stored souls and lifespan are limited.

Few ninjas are without fear, and it doesn't matter if the few who regain their composure are given a Magical Naraku Jutsu.

It has to be said that the combination of illusion magic that creates fear and the Soul-Soul Fruit is truly amazing.

Most people in the world have weaknesses; there are very few people who are fearless.

After the harvest was complete, Uchiha Gen silently did some calculations.

No more, no less, exactly 69 souls—a number that is meaningful and thought-provoking, and all of them are the souls of ninjas.

Although most of them were genin, their souls were still stronger than those of ordinary people.

I'm not sure exactly how much stronger it is, since I haven't harvested the souls of ordinary people.

After handling the aftermath, Uchiha Gen returned to Kikyo Mountain.

He's wasted a lot of time; if he doesn't show up soon, people might think he's dead...
