Chapter 10 First Soul Ring: Thousand-Year Soul Ring

In the early morning, mist swirls through the Starry Sky Forest. A gentle breeze blows, and the leaves on the treetops sway softly, making a pleasant sound.

Tang Nian could feel that her body had become more resilient, and she slowly opened her eyes.

Tang Hao was sitting not far away, but Tang Nian couldn't see the expression on his face because he was wearing a straw hat.

Flander was alright; he only looked at her with slight surprise. But Ma Hongjun, who was still quite young, was a different story. He stood there in shock, dropping the pancake in his hand to the ground, staring blankly at Tang Nian.

Tang Nian was a little confused, but she quickly walked up to Tang Hao and said happily, "Teacher, I did it!"

As she spoke, Tang Nian raised her right hand, and a beautiful spider lily appeared in her palm.

A clear purple halo rose from beneath Tang Nian's feet, swirling around her body.

"It actually succeeded." Even Tang Hao couldn't help but express his surprise.

"A thousand-year soul ring?" The chubby boy's eyes widened. After circling Tang Nian several times, his gaze returned to Tang Nian's head.

"?" Tang Nian couldn't help but feel a little strange. "Is there something on my head?" As she spoke, she reached out and touched the top of her head.

Ma Hongjun hesitated for a moment, then took out a bronze mirror from his pocket and handed it to Tang Nian.

Three seconds later.

"Ah—" A scream echoed throughout the outer perimeter of the Star Dou Great Forest. Suddenly, two beast ears appeared on Tang Nian's head. They were entirely blue, but had golden patterns on them.

Tang Nian didn't know where it came from, but she could sense that the beast ears were very special and magical, and seemed to give her some special abilities.

Tang Nian began to pay attention to the details around her. She heard some sounds that she couldn't usually hear: the sound of the wind and the faint, distant roars of soul beasts.

"And what's wrong with your tail?" Just as Tang Nian was feeling the beast ears, Ma Hongjun's puzzled voice came again.

Tang Nian suddenly had a bad feeling. She looked down and sure enough, there was a long tail hanging down behind her, just like her ears, glowing blue and marked with fine golden lines.

Tang Nian found it strange. She curiously shook the tail, trying to control it. Unexpectedly, the tail actually moved according to her wishes.

Based on the feel and texture, Tang Nian was certain that the tail was something she had grown herself and was part of her body.

"Teacher—" The first thing Tang Nian did after realizing what had happened was to look for Tang Hao. She grabbed Tang Hao's arm helplessly, "Teacher, what's going on?"

His tearful expression tugged at the heartstrings of everyone present.

Tang Hao sighed, "I don't know what's wrong with you, but something similar happened when you were younger, but I used my soul power to control it for you."

Tang Nian clung to him like a drowning man grasping at a straw, pleading, "Teacher, please help me control this! If people see me like this, they'll think I'm a monster!"

Tang Hao's expression was complicated. "Niannian, no, I don't know when this situation will occur or how long it will last. I won't always be by your side. For now, you have to learn to control these ears and tail yourself."

As he spoke, Tang Hao examined Tang Nian's ear and said in a serious tone, "Try to suppress it with your soul power. Just relax, just like you control your martial soul."

Tang Nian nodded as if she understood, then sat down cross-legged and began to try to control her ears and tail. She took a few deep breaths and recalled the feeling of controlling her martial soul.

Sweat dripped down Tang Nian's forehead, which was covered with tiny beads of sweat that shimmered like fine pearls.

After a long while, Ma Hongjun fell asleep leaning against a tree, and Tang Nian slowly woke up.

The first thing Tang Nian did after regaining consciousness was to reach out and touch the top of her head. Fortunately, her ears had disappeared, and she breathed a deep sigh of relief.

Fortunately, no one will treat her like a monster anymore.

Tang Hao also reached out and affectionately patted Tang Nian's head, "Once you leave this Star Dou Great Forest, you must be careful. If you are discovered by others, you will likely be in grave danger."

Tang Hao's tone was very serious, and Tang Nian couldn't help but nod seriously as well. "I understand, teacher. Don't worry, I will definitely take good care of myself."

Flander remained silent throughout, simply observing the two of them quietly.

The four of them came to the Star Dou Great Forest to hunt soul beasts. Now that they had absorbed the soul rings, they could leave.

After waking Ma Hongjun, who was still drooling, the four of them headed towards the edge of the forest.

As their parting was imminent, Flander looked at the mysterious master and apprentice before him and said, "Actually, I am the headmaster of an academy. Our academy only accepts monsters. I wonder if this little girl, Nian Nian, would be interested in studying at our school?"

After a pause, Flander made a promise, "I will definitely help you stand at the top one day." Then he turned to look at Tang Hao and said, "To be honest, I could tell you were extraordinary from the very first day. If you are willing, you can come to our academy as a teacher. We will definitely not mistreat you."

Flanders patted his chest, which showed that every word he said came from the bottom of his heart.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Tang Hao waved his hand and said, "I'm used to being free and undisciplined, so I'm afraid I'm not good enough to be a teacher. Besides, my disciple is still young, so let's wait a few more years."

Since Tang Hao had already said so, Flander could no longer object. He sighed and said regretfully, "If you are willing, you can bring this child to the Kingdom of Barak to find our Shrek Academy at any time."

Tang Nian frowned slightly; the name Shrek Academy sounded somewhat familiar to her.

Tang Nian couldn't help but think of the Spirit Hall Academy. She wondered to herself if she had heard the name Shrek Academy somewhere before.

Thinking about it that way, it might be a prestigious academy.

Tang Hao said, "Thank you for your kindness. If it really comes to that, I will personally escort my disciple to your esteemed academy." He paused, then added, "Farewell—"

Farewell.

The two adults didn't even mention it, but the two children were very reluctant to part with each other, especially Ma Hongjun, who held Tang Nian's hand with tears in his eyes.

"I've never met such a cute little sister like you before. Remember me, little sister Niannian. I'll be waiting for you at Shrek Academy—"

Tang Nian was also deeply moved and nodded, saying, "I'll remember Ma Hongjun—"

Why don't you call me brother?

Notting City Junior Soul Master Academy.

Tang San: "What's going on? My fist suddenly feels a bit hard."
