Chapter 8 Ma Hongjun is poisoned

Just when Tang Nian thought Tang Hao would refuse, he actually agreed.

Tang Nian couldn't help but look up at Tang Hao. He always kept his distance from people as much as possible. What was wrong with him today? Tang Nian couldn't figure it out, but since there were outsiders present, she didn't ask too many questions and just stood aside like a good girl.

Ma Hongjun is quite lively; he kept talking to Tang Nian the whole way, asking, "Which spirit ring are you absorbing?"

Tang Nian knew the boy in front of her meant no harm and was just curious, so she said, "The first one."

Ma Hongjun breathed a sigh of relief. "You scared me to death! You look younger than me. When I saw how enthusiastic my teacher was, I thought you were about to absorb your second spirit ring."

Tang Nian found it a bit strange and asked, "Why do you say that?"

Ma Hongjun lowered his voice and leaned close to Tang Nian, saying, "My teacher is cunning! He won't do anything without a reason. I thought he was trying to trick you into coming to our college."

At the same time, Flander, who was talking to Tang Hao in front of him, sneezed.

Tang Nian smiled upon hearing this, not taking Ma Hongjun's words to heart. She asked curiously, "What does it feel like to absorb a spirit ring?"

Ma Hongjun looked up and thought for a while before saying, "The power of the spirit ring will impact your body, causing great pain and discomfort, but once you truly begin to absorb it, everything will return to calm."

As he spoke, Ma Hongjun patted Tang Nian on the shoulder and said smugly, "Little sister, don't be afraid. My teacher and I are very capable. You will definitely be fine."

Tang Nian nodded gratefully. Although she knew in her heart that Tang Hao was very capable and nothing would happen to him, it was still Ma Hongjun's good intention.

Flander's expression suddenly changed, and he turned around, saying, "You two kids, hurry up and catch up."

Tang Hao, standing to the side, was also in a defensive posture.

Tang Nian and Ma Hongjun exchanged a glance, knowing that something must have happened. They quickly stepped forward and followed behind the two adults, one on each side.

Suddenly, a plume of red smoke appeared out of thin air.

Immediately afterwards, Ma Hongjun started talking nonsense, "Chicken leg, big chicken leg, chicken wing, let me have a bite."

Before Tang Nian could stop him, she saw Ma Hongjun open his mouth and bite Flander's thigh.

"Ah—" Flander screamed, startling the birds nearby, which immediately flew into the sky and disappeared without a trace.

Tang Hao said, "Nian Nian, cover your mouth and nose."

"Okay." At this moment, Tang Nian realized that there was something wrong with the fog and quickly covered her mouth and nose.

Flander reached out and restrained Ma Hongjun, but Ma Hongjun was clearly deeply poisoned. Even though he was restrained, he still bit at the air and muttered incantations.

Tang Hao frowned and said, "This is the poison of the withered tree demon flower. This red poisonous mist is toxic and can confuse people and cause them to die in agony."

Flander's expression instantly turned serious. "Is there any solution? I've only heard of this withered tree demon flower, but I've never encountered it. It's said to be extremely rare. How could it appear on the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest?"

"The specific reason is unknown. The only way to cure this poison is to find the flower and put the petals in your mouth. Otherwise, it will kill you in a very short time."

Upon hearing this, Flander's expression changed drastically. "I would be grateful if you could help me search for it."

"That's natural, but this withered tree demon flower is extremely good at hiding its tracks, so we'll have to try our luck." Tang Hao's tone was serious.

At this moment, Tang Nian also realized the seriousness of the matter. Although she had not known Ma Hongjun for long, back in Holy Soul Village, because their parents were not caring for them and were not around, Tang Nian and Tang San were often ridiculed by the village children.

This was the first person her age to show her kindness after she arrived in Douluo Continent. She couldn't bear to see such a cute little chubby boy die.

"Teacher, what does that withered tree flower look like?" Tang Nian looked up at Tang Hao and asked.

"It is said that its true form is a red flower, but it is ever-changing and never shows its true face. I am not sure what it looks like now." Tang Hao's tone was calm, but there was a lot of worry in his words.

Tang Nian clenched her fists and looked around for anything suspicious. Suddenly, a red mushroom caught her attention.

"Teacher, look at the mushrooms over there."

Tang Hao looked in the direction Tang Nian was pointing, and waved his hand. A white spirit ring condensed on the top of the mushroom's head, but its shape did not change.

It seems that these red mushrooms are not the withered tree flower.

Seeing Tang Hao's actions, Flander became anxious and began to work on the surrounding vegetation as well. Before long, a white spirit ring appeared around the four of them.

But in the end, they did not see any trace of the withered tree and the demonic flower.

Just as Flander was about to reach out again, Tang Nian stopped him, saying, "Uncle, these soul beasts must have had a tough time cultivating to this point. Why don't we think it over carefully before we act? Let's not kill innocent people indiscriminately."

Tang Nian understood the law of the jungle.

But for some reason, seeing the flowers and plants around her turn into spirit rings made her feel suffocated, as if it shouldn't be like this.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Upon hearing this, Flander paused in his actions and reached out to embrace Ma Hongjun, who was already delirious and flushed.

At this moment, Ma Hongjun had completely fainted, his brows furrowed, and it was clear that he was enduring great pain.

Tang Nian watched from the side, feeling quite uncomfortable, and couldn't help but feel a little anxious.

She carefully surveyed the surrounding vegetation, where various flowers and plants grew.

The tall pine trees, with their straight and thick trunks covered with lush green leaves.

Suddenly, Tang Nian's gaze was drawn to a slender bamboo stalk. The bamboo stood tall and straight, and its leaves rustled in the breeze.

It seemed to appear out of nowhere, completely out of place. There wasn't a single bamboo tree around, yet it stood there, which seemed rather strange no matter how you looked at it.

Tang Nian pointed at the bamboo and said loudly, "Teacher, there's something wrong with that bamboo."

Tang Hao turned his head, and in the blink of an eye, the bamboo seemed to have grown ears and began to move directly in the soil.

If Tang Nian was just guessing before, now it's certain that there's something wrong with the bamboo.

She subconsciously reached out, revealing a hidden arrow in her sleeve, and aimed it at the bamboo, but before she could fire, Tang Hao stopped her.

"This bamboo is indeed strange. I must not make any rash moves. If it is truly a withered tree demon flower, it would not be in the form of a flower if it died in this form."

Upon hearing this, Tang Nian abruptly stopped what she was doing.

"Teacher, what should we do now?"

It's already chapter eight before we knew it!

Hehehe, I really like the Douluo Continent novel, but this is my first time writing a Douluo story. Please forgive me if it's not well written. Love you all!
