Chapter 159 Post-War

Because standing there was actually a black "braised egg"—Nick Fury.

The moment Wes saw Nick Fury, the slight pleasure he had just felt from the prospect of enjoying fresh air vanished without a trace.

Wes's face darkened, and his eyes revealed obvious impatience.

His eyes flashed with displeasure, and his tone was as hard as ice as he coldly said, "I have nothing to say to you."

"Hand over the stuff, and you'll never see me again." Nick Fury's words carried a hint of threat, attempting to force Wes into submission.

Wes remained unmoved and walked right past Nick Fury.

"It's already mine. If you want it, just take it from me."

Wes's voice was full of confidence and provocation as he met Nick Fury's gaze without fear.

"You bastard, do you know what you're doing?" Nick Fury's face darkened further, his voice filled with rage.

"Of course I know." Wes glanced at Nick dismissively. "But are you ready?"

"What preparations?" Nick Fury frowned even more, not understanding the meaning behind Wes's words.

"Of course it's preparation for war, my war with you!" Wes's voice was firm and powerful.

The surrounding agents tensed up immediately, gripping their weapons tightly and their eyes filled with vigilance.

However, without Nick Fury's orders, no one dared to take action.

Wes simply walked past them.

The agents could only watch him leave, but dared not make a move.

Nick Fury led the agents to retreat.

Undercurrents are swirling within S.H.I.E.L.D., with Hydra, which has been operating within the organization, becoming active.

"This is an opportunity to stir up conflict between the Wizard and Fury, use the Wizard to purge those loyal to Fury, and we can easily take control of the entire S.H.I.E.L.D."

In a secret room, Alexander Pierce, a Hydra agent who had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D., gathered his subordinates. They sat together and discussed how to deal with Wes.

Brock Rumlow said bitterly, "We'd better catch that arrogant wizard, brainwash him, and turn him into a tool to serve us for the rest of his life."

Having been defeated by Wes twice in a row, and with Wes's arrogant attitude, Rumlow, who had a high opinion of himself, became jealous.

"Crossbones, don't bring your personal feelings into the mission. Wizards aren't so easy to capture alive."

Pierce reprimanded Brock Rumlow sternly.

After being scolded by Pierce, Crossbones became much more obedient, lowering his head and remaining silent.

"Our power is still weak. It will be time for us to show our true colors after we take control of the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. and are reborn in a new form."

Pierce's eyes gleamed with ambition.

"Boss," the bald man, Sitwell, suggested, "we can ask for help."

It's important to know that Hydra isn't just one of their branches infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D.

For decades, Hydra has infiltrated the entire world.

Pierce considered it for a moment and then declined the offer.

Although they are all Hydra, they don't have a unified command, and getting their help comes at a price.

He didn't want to reveal his strength too early, nor did he want to owe anyone favors.

As everyone knows, in that epic Battle of New York, a mysterious wizard used amazing magic to defeat numerous aliens with astonishing power.

However, despite the fact that the wizard's deeds were passed down by word of mouth among the people, few people actually knew what he looked like.

After all, it was already a miracle to survive on that chaotic battlefield.

As for the government and military, they are even less likely to actively help Wes with his publicity campaign.

On the one hand, they may be wary of unknown forces and do not want the public to pay too much attention to magic, a power that is difficult to control.

On the other hand, they also have their own political considerations and interests to weigh, and are unwilling to let an uncontrollable individual become the focus of public worship.

However, the people were filled with curiosity and worship for this mysterious wizard.

In the streets and alleys of New York, you can see children dressed as wizards everywhere.

They wore black pointed hats, carried homemade wands, and even rode brooms, imitating their heroes.

In the toy store, Wizard figurines and toys filled the shelves, attracting children's attention along with merchandise featuring other Avengers members.

On television, related animated films were also being broadcast, vividly depicting the wizards' magical powers and heroic deeds.

Si strolled leisurely through the streets of New York, his gaze slowly sweeping over the surrounding scenery.

The streets were bustling with pedestrians and vehicles, and everything seemed to have returned to its former liveliness and hustle.

Looking at all this, Wes was filled with mixed emotions.

Humans are truly an incredibly adaptable species.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Faced with the sudden alien invasion, the whole world was plunged into great panic and chaos.

Cities were destroyed, lives were taken, and people's lives were completely disrupted.

However, in a very short time, people gradually began to accept this harsh reality.

They were not defeated by fear, but bravely stood up and began to rebuild their homes.

The children ran happily through the streets, their faces beaming with innocent smiles.

These tiny figures represent the hope for the future.

They eagerly pulled out their pocket money and excitedly bought superhero merchandise.

Those exquisite figurines and cool toys are irresistible to children.

The candy packaging was also covered with images of Avengers members.

Weiss had to admire the capitalists' sharp minds; no matter the time, they were able to quickly seize business opportunities and turn people's enthusiasm into actual commercial benefits.

It seems they haven't paid me any copyright fees. Can I sue them for copyright infringement?

This thought suddenly popped into Wes's head, and he almost laughed.

He shook his head and continued walking aimlessly.

And so, Weiss wandered the streets of New York until he was stopped by a familiar voice.

"Wes, can we talk?"

Wes turned around and saw that it was Steve.

Anyway, I don't have anything to do right now.

Steve brought Wes to Brooklyn, where he was born and raised.

Although most of the people and things he used to know are gone, Steve still likes to stay here.

Every street and every building here carries his memories and emotions.

"You're a New Yorker too," Steve said.

"I guess so. I haven't spent much time here since I was a child, so I'm not as familiar with New York as you are."

Steve's face lit up with a bright smile: "I know a good restaurant."
