Chapter 165 Hydra

The news of the deaths of hundreds of killers in a single day shocked the entire city of New York.

Such an event was unprecedented, and its devastation plunged the New York Police Department into extreme busyness and chaos.

The police station's body bags were used up in a short period of time, and they were almost out of stock.

Resources that were originally intended for handling ordinary cases were now all being devoted to this unexpected event.

The police were kept extremely busy just dealing with the bodies of these killers.

They carefully carried the cold corpses, their faces filled with exhaustion and helplessness.

Fortunately, the New York gangs became unusually well-behaved under Kingpin's strong control.

Kingpin, with his keen sense of smell, sensed that something big was about to happen. He knew that at such a critical moment, any rash action could bring him annihilation.

He didn't want to be held accountable later, so he decisively restrained his subordinates and kept the entire gang low-profile.

"Boss, bad news, the wizard has gone to Washington."

Natasha's voice held a hint of tension as she reported this unsettling news to Nick Fury.

Upon hearing this news, Nick Fury felt a strong sense of unease.

"The worst has happened; he's starting to suspect us. Let's find out which flight he took."

Nick Fury gave the order urgently.

"He didn't take a plane." Natasha's answer made Nick Fury even more puzzled.

"???" Nick Fury looked completely bewildered.

"Surveillance footage shows him getting into a flying car heading towards Washington, but neither satellites nor radar can pinpoint his location now."

Natasha explained the situation in detail.

Nick Fury fell silent, his mind racing as he considered all the possible responses.

At this moment, his heart was heavy; he knew things had become extremely complicated.

"Hopefully things won't get out of control."

He prayed silently in his heart.

Washington, D.C., as the capital and political center of the United States, is home to the nation's core power institutions, and many of the country's top figures choose to reside here.

In this special place, everything that happens will be magnified and watched by countless eyes, and will be examined and interpreted from all angles.

If Wes were to cause a scene here, the consequences would be unimaginable.

The political stability of the entire country could be severely impacted, and the resulting chain reaction would be incalculable.

At this time, Washington appeared calm on the surface, but in reality, it had already raised its security level to the highest level.

Senior officials have been equipped with large numbers of security personnel, and their travels and activities are now under much tighter protection.

Major security agencies such as S.H.I.E.L.D., the FBI, and the Secret Service mobilized, forming a tight net to conduct a comprehensive search of the entire Washington, D.C.

However, despite their enormous investment of manpower and resources, they were unable to find any trace of Weiss.

Weiss seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace.

After a busy day, Pierce dragged his tired body back to his home.

He enjoyed a moment of peace and warmth while having dinner with his family.

After dinner, he returned to his study to continue dealing with the mountain of official business.

As soon as he opened the study door, his pupils contracted sharply.

A strong sense of unease welled up within him, but his years of political experience quickly calmed him down.

He subtly turned his wedding ring; this small gesture brought him some strength and comfort.

"Would you like a drink?"

As Pierce spoke, he poured two glasses of red wine and handed one to Wes, who was sitting in a chair.

Wes sat there leisurely.

"Alexander Pierce?" Wes asked slowly.

"It's me. May I ask what business Mr. Erwin has with me?"

Pierce tried to keep his tone calm.

"You don't know?" Wes asked with a hint of doubt.

"What I do know is that you eliminated hundreds of assassins in New York, and now martial law has been declared in all of Washington because of you."

Pierce answered calmly, while stalling for time as much as possible to think of a solution.

"I don't know why they contacted me; I'm just an old man who's retired."

Pierce tried to downplay his role in order to reduce Wes's suspicion of him.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Wes smiled, then suddenly uttered something that shocked Pierce: "Hail Hydra!"

Pierce's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief.

"you??"

"Of course not."

Pierce's expression twisted as his mind raced. "How did you know? Oh, right, you have that scepter."

He attributed Wes's knowledge of his secret to the scepter, believing that the scepter must have granted Wes some special ability that allowed him to discover his identity.

"Since you know about Hydra, you should know the power we wield." Pierce's eyes gleamed with a fanatical light as he began to entice Wes, his words filled with seduction.

"Join us, and with your power and the scepter, we can easily take control of the entire world. Imagine what a magnificent achievement that would be! You would possess endless power and wealth, becoming one of the masters of this world."

In Pierce's view, Weiss couldn't possibly refuse his invitation. After all, who could resist such a huge temptation?

He firmly believed that if Wes had any sense, he would realize that joining Hydra was his best option.

"Idiot." Wes's voice wasn't loud, but it made Pierce's head buzz.

"What?" Pierce's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief.

He suspected he had misheard; the answer was completely unexpected.

"Rule the world? You Hydra are not qualified." Wes crossed his legs, looking relaxed and disdainful.

In his view, the ambitious man before him was unaware that the world had undergone earth-shattering changes.

The coming era belongs to superheroes and supervillains.

Hydra is at best a supporting character; their ambitions seem so insignificant and laughable in this new era.

[Damn it, they actually look down on us.]

A surge of intense anger welled up within Pierce.

As a high-ranking member of Hydra, he has always been full of confidence and pride in his organization.

Now, Weiss's contempt made him feel extremely humiliated.

If Pierce hadn't been outmatched by Wes, he would have made a move long ago.

He clenched his fists tightly, trying to suppress his anger.

[Ruin his reputation, make sure he has nowhere to go in this world.]

Pierce was secretly making plans in his mind.
