Chapter 17 Ghost Rider

When a gun was suddenly pointed at his head, Wes instinctively cast the "Disarming Spell".

In an instant, a powerful burst of magic erupted from the wand, and the man holding the shotgun was struck by an invisible force and sent flying.

First, it slammed heavily against the hard wall with a dull thud, then it fell to the ground in a sorry state.

The shotgun fell right at Wes's feet.

With a blank expression, Wes kicked the shotgun out the door.

"Don't move!"

He pointed his wand straight at the corner of the wall.

"What's that stick in your hand? Is it a magic wand?"

An old and hoarse voice slowly came from the corner of the wall, carrying a hint of doubt and wariness.

An elderly cowboy struggled to his feet, shaking off the dust that had settled on him.

"Are you a magician?" The cowboy's melancholy eyes stared intently at Wes.

His stubble and graying beard looked particularly weathered under the dim light.

Judging from the old cowboy's attire, one can vaguely tell that he was probably a handsome and charming guy who attracted women when he was young.

Where is the "San Venganza Pact"?

"How did you learn about the 'San Venganza Pact'?"

The old cowboy frowned, looking particularly wary.

"That's none of your business, old cowboy."

Weiss spoke in a firm tone, giving the other party no chance to ask questions.

"I cannot allow the San Venganza Pact to fall into the hands of someone of dubious origin like you."

As they talked, the old cowboy's right hand moved slowly and imperceptibly toward his waist.

"They'll all be petrified!"

Wes saw through the old cowboy's little tricks and didn't bother arguing with the stubborn cowboy any further.

In an instant, the old cowboy was frozen in place, his body stiff as a stone statue, completely still.

Only his eyeballs could still move, and the old cowboy's eyes at that moment perfectly illustrated what it meant to be terrified and incredulous.

"The San Venganza Pact has arrived."

Wes used the Summoning Charm.

To the old cowboy's astonishment, a shovel seemed to be pulled by an invisible hand, flying directly into Wes's hand.

After taking the shovel, Wes carefully examined it for a while.

He quickly got the answer. Wes carefully removed the handle of the shovel, revealing a piece of yellowed parchment.

"It was hidden quite well."

Weiss took out a quill pen and slowly brought it close to the parchment to examine it.

The moment the quill pen came near the parchment, it emitted a soft glow.

"This is it." A satisfied smile finally appeared on Wes's face, and he quickly hid the "San Venganza Contract" close to his body.

Before leaving, Wes turned to the immobilized old cowboy and said, "The curse will be lifted automatically in half an hour. You're getting old; don't be so hot-tempered."

After saying that, Wes got into the car without looking back, stepped on the gas, and the car sped away, leaving only a cloud of dust behind.

Half an hour later, the curse was finally lifted, and the old cowboy collapsed heavily to the ground.

He groaned in pain and struggled to his shaky feet.

"I never thought I, Carter, would one day fall to a young man."

As Carter spoke, he helplessly adjusted his cowboy hat, then walked outside and bent down to pick up his shotgun.

A loud whistle rang out.

"Neigh, neigh~~"

The rapid sound of hooves approached from afar, and soon a tall, strong horse came to a stop beside Carter.

Carter gently stroked the horse's head, as if he were talking to a close old friend.

"It's not cowboy style to let people bully you and not fight back."

Carter was consumed by rage, and he made up his mind. With a swift movement, he mounted his horse and shouted, "Let's go!"

The horse understood his command, excitedly raised its front hooves, and let out a neigh.

They chased after Wes in the direction he had gone.

The sky quickly darkened, like a huge black curtain slowly enveloping the earth.

Wes slowly brought the car to a stop.

The night in the Texas wilderness is like a mysterious and tranquil masterpiece.

The vast, boundless plains appeared even more expansive and desolate under the dim moonlight, with grasses and low bushes resembling silent shadows. In the sky, countless stars shone like diamonds, densely dotting the deep blue canvas.

The distant mountain ranges were blurred, leaving only their massive, dark silhouettes. On the ground, one could occasionally catch a glimpse of a nimble hare darting by, or hear the mournful cry of an owl echoing through the silent night.

The nighttime scenery in the Texas wilderness possesses both the raw and rugged beauty of nature and a captivating tranquility, leaving one in awe of nature's artistry and boundless charm.

"Nice scenery," Wes remarked softly.

The San Van González Pact has been obtained.

Wes planned to rest here for a while, have something to eat, and enjoy this rare beautiful scenery.

Jandy is truly a jack-of-all-trades; he is not only adept at managing household chores and serving as a capable experimental assistant, but he can also handle tasks like camping at night without difficulty.

Soon, a warm campfire was lit, and a delicious dinner was ready.

Wes leisurely enjoyed Jandy's thoughtful and attentive service.

"Da~ da~ da da"

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

The crisp sound of horses' hooves broke the silence of the night.

Wes instantly stood up alertly, sensing a strong sense of hostility rapidly approaching.

A skeletal horse engulfed in flames charged forward with overwhelming force, its four hooves leaving a trail of burning fire on the ground.

A cowboy with flames engulfing his body and a skull-shaped head sat on horseback.

Upon seeing Wes, Carter didn't hesitate to pull out his shotgun, aim, and shout, "Gotcha, wizard brat!"

"I didn't hit him hard, he's such a troublesome old man."

However, the current emergency situation doesn't allow Wes to think about that much.

After all, the cowboy in front of him had come to settle scores with him.

"Phantom Migration"

Wes reacted quickly, instantly casting a spell to teleport behind Carter.

Disarm

A powerful disarming spell shot out from Wes's wand, instantly knocking the shotgun out of Carter's hand.

Carter reacted quickly, pulling a revolver from his waist.

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

Three shots were fired in quick succession, the bullets whistling through the air.

Obstacles

Obstacles

Obstacles

Three powerful spells were released in quick succession.

Three bullets struck the viscous liquid ahead, instantly slowing their speed. After struggling through the air for a distance, they finally exhausted their potential energy and fell helplessly to the ground.

"A barrage of bullets"

Not fighting back has never been Wes's style.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth—that was the principle Weiss always believed in.

In the Texas suburbs, there is no shortage of all kinds of gravel.

As Wes cast his magic, countless pebbles instantly transformed into powerful bullets, raining down on the cowboy and his horse. The powerful impact pierced through and knocked them down, horse and all.

But Wes dared not let his guard down for a moment.

The flames on Carter and his warhorse burned even more fiercely.

Their wounds healed rapidly at an astonishing speed visible to the naked eye, and within seconds they were standing up again, full of energy.

"Damn immortality."

Although everything was within Wes's expectations, he still found it very troublesome.

Such an opponent, who possesses an immortal body, is undoubtedly the most annoying.

Carter put his cowboy hat back on, his eyes full of provocation: "Your little tricks won't work on me, wizard."
