Chapter 229 begins

"That's outrageous, you did the same thing too."

Weiss's words echoed through the abandoned factory.

Saber bit her lip, unsure how to retort.

She knew in her heart that in this cruel Holy Grail War, all sides had resorted to some less-than-honorable means in order to achieve their goals.

But as the King of Knights, she still felt dissatisfied with this behavior.

"Don't argue with him, exchange the hostages immediately." Kiritsugu Emiya's voice came clearly through the earpiece, carrying an undeniable firmness.

Saber frowned slightly. Although she was unwilling, she had no choice but to obey her Master's orders.

She opened the passage leading underground, a passage filled with a damp atmosphere and a faint musty smell.

She pointed her sword into the passage, signaling Wes to follow.

But Wes didn't move; he just stood there quietly.

"You're not being sincere at all."

Wes slowly made a gesture, and suddenly lightning burst forth from Alice's body. The lightning snaked across her body like silver snakes, and Alice convulsed and collapsed to the ground in pain.

"Alice!!" Saber exclaimed in surprise.

"I'm not unprepared," Wes said calmly and coldly.

"You bastard!!" Saber glared at Wes.

"Likewise." Wes wouldn't let the enemy lead him by the nose; in this war full of deceit and treachery, he had to remain vigilant at all times.

"Since you have no sincerity, the deal is void." Wes opened his right hand, and a golden spear instantly appeared, radiating a dazzling light.

He made a gesture as if he were to nail Alice to death.

"Stop!!" Saber dared not gamble on whether Wes was really going to do it; her heart was filled with worry.

She could only ask her Master, "Kiritsugu?"

The most sensible course of action would be to detonate the explosives hidden underground, thus ending the deal once and for all.

However, Kiritsugu Emiya is not a robot; he still possesses his own emotions.

He already felt guilty towards Alice, so how could he watch her die before his eyes?

"Maimi." Kiritsugu Emiya's voice was deep and decisive.

"Yes, Master." Hisayu Mami quickly slid down from the rooftop, her agility even surpassing that of the King of Soldiers.

Her figure moved swiftly through the abandoned factory like an agile black cat.

She opened a room and brought out Matou Kariya.

Matou Kariya's face was filled with anger and resentment.

"I never expected the King of Knights to resort to such tricks. This is against the code of chivalry," Wes quipped, his tone laced with sarcasm.

Artoria's expression was somewhat unnatural; she certainly did not agree with the plan.

But in this war, she did not have the power to make decisions and could only remain silent.

"Weis!" Kariya Matou, seeing Weis come to his rescue, was initially embarrassed, then roared, "Don't worry about me, kill them all!!"

He began to struggle incessantly, like a trapped beast.

"Hey, behave yourself." Hisayu Maiya lost control of Matou Kariya and smashed a rifle butt into the back of his head.

But Matou Kariya was still there, yelling and shouting.

"Alright, you're making so much noise I'm almost deaf." Wes gestured for Kariya Matou to shut up. "Sakura is still waiting for you to come back."

Upon hearing Matou Sakura's name, Matou Kariya instantly calmed down.

"Is that child worried about me?" Matou Kariya's voice carried a hint of surprise and emotion.

Wes nodded: "I've already promised the child I'd take you back."

"Sakura~"

Tears streamed down Matou Kariya's face, glistening especially in the dim factory light.

"Alright, let's begin the hostage exchange."

Wes lifted Alice up with his right hand, while Hisayu Maiya untied Matou Kariya.

"I'll count to three, then we'll all let go."

Wes's voice rang out in the factory.

"3"

"2"

"1"

The two released their hands, and Matou Kariya and Alice approached each other step by step before passing each other.

They returned to their respective groups.

Wes examined Kariya Matou's body and found nothing wrong.

[Did they know Matou Kariya wouldn't live much longer, which is why they didn't leave any backup plans, or were they confident they could keep me here?]

Wes pondered to himself.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Saber over there also carefully examined Alice's body and only breathed a slight sigh of relief after confirming that she was not injured.

Wes opened a spatial rift and shoved Kariya Matou into it. Maiya Hisau immediately took Alice and left.

Saber has raised the holy sword, which radiates a divine light.

"Should we fight?" Wes shrugged. "I'm too tired to fight today."

"That's not up to you."

As Saber finished speaking, a beam of red light shot out from each of the four corners of the factory. The red light, like a burning flame, spread rapidly and formed a barrier surrounding the factory.

[The space has been sealed off, though not completely, but the time it takes to open it has been extended. With Saber's swordsmanship, she can kill me within that time.]

Wes felt a chill run down his spine; he knew he was in danger.

Moreover, there were three of them, so he dared not be careless.

"Incredible strength!"

"agile!"

Various buff spells enveloped him like a dazzling halo, and Wes's body shimmered with brilliant colors.

He gripped his spear tightly, ready for the impending battle.

Saber gripped her sword tightly with both hands, her eyes fixed on Wes like a sharp blade.

Her figure flashed like lightning, instantly rushing towards Wes.

Her speed was so fast that it was almost impossible to see her movements.

She raised her sword high and cleaved it towards Wes's head, a strike imbued with Artoria's boundless rage.

Her heart was filled with anger and resentment towards Wes.

Without hesitation, Wes raised his spear to parry.

"Clang!!" The two divine weapons collided, producing a deafening roar.

The sound was like a thunderclap, exploding in the air and creating a powerful shockwave.

The shockwave spread outwards like a surging wave.

The dilapidated factory could no longer withstand the enormous impact and began to sway precariously.

Huge cracks appeared in the walls, and roof tiles fell off one after another.

Wes's feet sank deep into the ground, as if being pulled by a powerful force.

His arms trembled incessantly because Artoria's small body contained terrifying strength.

Even with the buffs Wes cast, he could only barely hold on.

A strained expression appeared on his face.

But he knew he couldn't back down; he had to take the initiative.

Artoria knew this too, and she wouldn't give Wes any chance.
