Chapter 287 Restoration of the Kingdom

Elsewhere in Drosrosa, others gradually realized that something was wrong, especially the passionate gladiators in the arena.

At that moment, the noisy fighting sounds coming from outside the arena attracted their attention like a magnet.

"Where did all these pirates come from?"

A burly gladiator frowned and asked in confusion.

He gripped a greatsword, his broad shoulders and thick arms bulging with muscles that spoke of his immense power.

"Who cares? We're here to fight, isn't this more interesting?" Another gladiator said excitedly, his eyes gleaming with fanaticism.

"And there are even wanted criminals inside!"

Another gladiator's eyes lit up, and he greedily licked his lips.

In the eyes of these gladiators, a wanted criminal meant a hefty reward and unparalleled glory, which was far more attractive than a simple battle in the arena.

Before the words were even finished, the gladiators, like wild horses, charged out of the arena with gleaming eyes, heading towards the pirates. They kicked up clouds of dust as they ran, shouting as if they wanted to tear the pirates in their path to shreds.

In a corner of the arena, an elderly swordsman with white hair did not follow the crowd.

He stared blankly at the chaotic scene outside, his eyes filled with confusion.

"What on earth happened???"

He muttered to himself, his weathered face now lined with even deeper wrinkles, each wrinkle concealing countless questions.

Just then, a one-legged man wearing a cloak rushed in like a gust of wind.

Although he looked somewhat disheveled, his determined gaze burned like a torch.

Upon seeing the white-haired gladiator, he trembled with excitement, tears welling in his eyes. He couldn't help but shout, "King Riku!!"

"You are? Cyrus!!!" King Riku was taken aback at first, then a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. His previously confused eyes finally cleared up, and he finally remembered that the man in front of him was his son-in-law!

"It is I!!"

Cyrus trembled slightly with excitement.

"What on earth happened??" King Riku hurriedly helped Cyrus up and asked anxiously.

His heart was filled with worry about the external situation and fear of the unknown.

After being transformed into a toy soldier, Cyrus secretly rebelled against the Don Quixote family.

With unwavering will and longing for his family, he never gave up his pursuit of freedom.

He remained outside the barrier while Wes and Doflamingo were fighting.

He had seen the entire battle clearly. When he saw the Don Quixote family members being captured one by one, the emotions that had been suppressed in his heart for so long could no longer be contained.

Now that he has regained his true form, he could no longer hold back and immediately went to find his father-in-law, King Renku.

He wanted to tell King Riku this good news, to let him know that the gloom hanging over Dressrosa was about to dissipate.

"The entire Don Quixote family wiped out?!" King Riku's eyes widened in disbelief at the news he was hearing.

His lips trembled slightly, and his eyes were filled with astonishment.

"Absolutely true!" Cyrus nodded vigorously, his resolute gaze letting King Riku know that this was no joke.

He knew Cyrus was an upright and honest man who would not deceive him.

"This is absolutely wonderful!" King Riku exclaimed, tears streaming down his face.

Tears streamed down his wrinkled face and dripped onto the ground.

For years, he had lived in regret, and becoming a gladiator was an act of atonement. Now, hearing this news was like a person who had been imprisoned in darkness for a long time seeing the dawn. The joy and relief in his heart were like a flood that had burst its banks, and he could no longer suppress it.

"Now is the best time to take back this country."

Cyrus stared intently at King Riku, his eyes gleaming with unwavering determination.

He knew that after this upheaval, the downfall of the Donquixote family brought a glimmer of hope to Drosrosa, and that King Riku, as a monarch once deeply loved by the people, was the key figure in leading everyone to restore order to the country.

However, King Riku slowly shook his head, his eyes filled with pain and self-reproach: "I am no longer a king."

His voice was low and hoarse, as if every word carried endless regret.

Those scenes from back then kept replaying in his mind like a nightmare. It was he who, under Doflamingo's schemes, betrayed the expectations of the people and handed over the sovereignty of this country with his own hands.

At that time, he was so foolish and gullible that he plunged the entire country into dire straits.

"This is not your fault; Doflamingo deceived you."

Cyrus said urgently, taking a step forward and gripping King Riku's shoulders tightly, trying to pull him out of the abyss of self-reproach.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"You have always been thinking about the country and the people. It's Doflamingo who is too cunning. He has blinded everyone with his schemes."

Cyrus's eyes were filled with indignation; he felt an intense hatred for Doflamingo's evil deeds.

However, no matter how earnestly Cyrus tried to persuade him, King Riku remained unmoved.

He was like an island trapped in self-punishment, unable to extricate himself from past mistakes.

He closed his eyes slightly, as if trying to shut out everything from the outside world. The wrinkles on his face seemed to deepen, each one like a mark of regret etched by time.

"The situation outside is chaotic. Pirates, the Navy, and unidentified individuals are fighting recklessly. The people need your protection."

Cyrus raised his voice, trying to make King Riku realize the urgency of the current situation.

The sounds of battle cries and explosions outside were deafening; the entire city trembled in the chaos, and the people fled in terror. Without a strong leader stepping forward, the country would plunge into even deeper disaster.

Just then, the former Tegulepant suddenly appeared.

He stood tall and straight, and although the years had left their mark on his face, his eyes remained as resolute as ever.

"King Riku, this country needs you now!!" he shouted.

Behind him followed a squad of soldiers, their eyes resolute, standing in neat rows, their weapons gleaming coldly in the sunlight, as if silently expressing their determination.

"What are you doing here??" King Riku looked at them in surprise, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.

"We never doubted you! What happened back then was too suspicious."

Tegulepant stepped forward and said.

His eyes were filled with trust in King Riku, a loyalty that had stood the test of time and never wavered.

"We know you were framed, and we have been waiting for this day, waiting for you to lead us again and restore this country to its former prosperity."

The soldiers behind him nodded, their eyes filled with expectation. King Riku was their guiding light in the darkness, the last hope of this nation.
