Chapter 31 A Busy New Semester
Chapter 31 A Busy New Semester
Wes immediately reached out, eager to take the Egyptian Book of the Dead from Dumbledore's hand. Just as his fingers were about to touch the book, Dumbledore twisted his wrist and swiftly withdrew the book.
That reaction speed doesn't look like that of a 100-year-old at all.
Wes withdrew his outstretched hand in a daze, looking at Dumbledore with some embarrassment.
Dumbledore ignored Wes's gaze, instead turning to the bookshelf and taking down several books, namely:
The History of Egyptian Magic
Introduction to Ancient Egyptian
Egyptian Mythology
"Egypt###".
"Principal, what do you mean by this?"
Looking at the books laid out on the desk, Weiss realized they were nothing like the Egyptian Book of the Dead and thought Dumbledore was about to change his mind.
"Do you speak Ancient Egyptian, Wes?" Dumbledore asked Wes with a smile.
Weiss shook his head. He had never been exposed to knowledge of ancient Egypt and knew nothing about the ancient Egyptian language.
"Do you know anything about Egyptian mythology?" Dumbledore pressed, seeing that Wes seemed completely clueless.
Faced with Dumbledore's two consecutive questions, Wes suddenly realized the answer.
Dumbledore noticed Wes's expression and knew he understood his intention. He told Wes, "To understand the Egyptian Book of the Dead, you must first understand ancient Egyptian and Egyptian mythology."
Wes nodded in agreement and then picked up the books on the table. He was eager to read them all at once and learn ancient Egyptian as soon as possible.
But the reality was far more difficult than he had imagined. Ancient Egyptian was obscure and difficult to understand, and he spent several days trying to learn it, but he hadn't even gotten the basics down.
As for Voldemort's diary, Wes has no time to worry about it right now.
He believed that since the diary was Voldemort's earliest Horcrux, he was still a student at the time and probably didn't have much advanced magical knowledge.
The most valuable finds are Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets and the Basilisk. But how can these compare to the Egyptian Book of the Dead?
Weiss's busy schedule continued until the afternoon of the first Friday of the new semester, which was also his first class.
As he arrived at the classroom door and reached out to grasp the doorknob, he was still thinking about those ancient Egyptian books.
However, when he opened the classroom door, he was stunned by what he saw: "Wow, did I go to the wrong classroom?"
The number of students in the classroom has almost doubled compared to last year, making the classroom exceptionally lively and even a bit crowded.
Wes saw Harry, Ron, Malfoy, the Weasley twins, and some other unfamiliar faces.
Everyone has their own reasons for choosing this course; they gather in this classroom with different expectations and purposes.
With Harry, Ron, and Hermione, who took the course in her first year, the trio is now complete.
Harry chose this course for a simple reason: last year in the Forbidden Forest, he witnessed Wes's battle with Vander. Wes's immense strength broadened his horizons and also sparked Harry's curiosity about Wes.
He longed to learn some powerful magical knowledge from this course.
As for Ron, it was entirely because both of his friends had chosen this course, and he felt like he would be abandoned if he didn't. He didn't want to leave his good friends, so he chose the course.
Like Harry, Malfoy was full of curiosity about Wes, and his father had also given him a task: to investigate whether anything strange was happening around Wes.
The Weasley twins were very interested in alchemy and chose the course on Professor McGonagall's recommendation.
Most other students chose the course because of the credits, and also because they heard that there was very little homework.
Whether you're herding one sheep or a flock, it's all the same.
Weiss didn't care.
After the first class, Weiss did not assign any homework, but simply asked the students who had just taken the course this year to borrow the notes of the older students.
The students were delighted; they thought the class without homework was fantastic.
Only Hermione was unhappy; she insisted that Wes had assigned too little homework.
As Wes was about to leave the classroom, the twin brothers approached him.
"Professor Erwin~" Fred said, a bright smile on his face.
"Professor McGonagall said you're skilled in alchemy," George interjected.
"We have a lot of problems," Fred said again, his tone filled with urgency.
"May I ask you for advice?" George added, his face full of sincerity.
The twin brothers were perfectly in sync, as if they were talking as one person.
"The Weasley twins?" Weasley looked at the twins, but couldn't tell who was who.
They look so alike that it's hard to tell them apart.
"I'm Fred," said the man on the left, a mischievous smile on his face.
"I am George," came the reply from the person on the right.
"Okay." Wes finally managed to distinguish the twins. "May I see your report cards?"
"Give."
The two spoke in unison.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Seeing the two report cards in front of him, Wes knew that the two brothers had been prepared.
Wes took the report cards and saw that the two brothers' grades were extremely unbalanced. They had received Ps (failed) in several subjects such as Divination and History of Magic, but received Os (excellent) in practical courses such as Transfiguration and Charms.
The results show that Fred and George are very talented; otherwise, they wouldn't have gotten so many Os.
"You guys are really good at specializing in one subject over the other."
Weiss frowned slightly, feeling a bit worried about their severely unbalanced academic performance.
"We're not bookworms."
"I don't want to be a class monitor either."
"We just want to focus our energy on the subjects that interest us."
The twin brothers said in unison.
Wes was having a headache; twins were the most difficult students to deal with.
They have their own ideas and are very proactive; they might just pull off a big surprise at any time.
However, they were recommended by Professor McGonagall, who had taken good care of Weiss during his student days.
Weiss didn't want to hurt the feelings of the vice principal who cared so much about the students.
"Okay," Wes said. "I can make time every Wednesday evening. You can come to my office if you have any questions."
The twin brothers happily high-fived in celebration.
"Very good."
"Thank you, Professor."
The two brothers ran out of the classroom excitedly, and in the days that followed, the twins would ask Wess for alchemy advice every Wednesday.
Wes also discovered that the twins had an extraordinary talent for alchemy, and their ingenious ideas always inspired him.
Wes also devoted himself to teaching the two brothers alchemy, which was far beyond the scope of ordinary teachers and students.
The students at Hogwarts discovered that the most mischievous twins had become diligent and studious, and could often be seen looking up something in the library.
When asked, they didn't answer, only saying that it would definitely surprise everyone.
Percy Weasley was very pleased with the changes in his two brothers, believing that they had changed under the influence of their excellent older brother.
Ron scoffed, believing the twins were plotting something big.
However, the two brothers did not cause any trouble until Halloween.
