Chapter 37 Wes's Plan
Chapter 37 Wes's Plan
Lucius's fingers trembled slightly on the rim of the teacup. He put the teacup down with a shaky gait, and the delicate teacup gently clinked against the saucer, making a soft sound.
His eyes slowly closed, a restless throbbing hidden beneath his eyelids, as he tried to suppress the turmoil within him.
He was still wavering, unsure whether his choice would plunge him and his family into an abyss of no return.
With his sharp eyes, Wes knew that Lucius was experiencing a storm in his heart.
Wes walked quietly to Lucius's side, his movements cautious, as if approaching a frightened little animal.
Then he gently placed his hand on Lucius's shoulder.
"Mr. Malfoy, you made the right choice. Headmaster Dumbledore is far more trustworthy than that madman Voldemort."
His voice was deep and gentle, as if he were soothing a wounded soul.
"Lucius, I promise your family will be under my protection." Dumbledore was not as unreliable as usual, but rather very serious.
Dumbledore, the greatest white wizard of this century, certainly has a more reassuring reputation than Voldemort.
Lucius's face gradually regained a rosy hue from its paleness, and the spark of hope in his heart was rekindled.
"He was so outstanding and remarkable back then; he was the perfect leader in my eyes."
Lucius was overwhelmed with complex emotions as he recalled why he had followed Voldemort in the first place.
At that time, Voldemort was powerful and wise, a fearsome figure in the wizarding world. His charisma and power attracted many followers, including Lucius.
They believed that Voldemort could lead them to a brighter future, an era in which wizards ruled Muggles and the magical world prospered.
"We dreamed of placing him at the pinnacle of power, from England to Europe, and then to the whole world. All wizards would bow down at our feet."
Lucius's voice carried a hint of dreamy longing, but was immediately interrupted by the harsh reality.
"But..." Lucius's lips began to tremble, and his voice became shaky.
"But his change was so sudden; he became cruel and suspicious, which instilled fear in everyone."
"The Voldemort of today is no longer the revered leader he once was, but a dark lord feared by all. The most absurd thing is that this once invincible dark lord has been defeated by a mere infant."
Lucius's face was filled with disbelief; he found the leader's defeat unacceptable.
He took a deep breath and continued, "I didn't know that the diary was his Horcrux. He only told me that when the diary returned to Hogwarts, it would purge those impure wizards."
Lucius subconsciously touched the Dark Mark on his left arm, a symbol of his former loyalty that had now become a boulder in his heart.
"The Black Mark that disappeared last year has reappeared. I know he's back, though still very weak. I want to earn some credit for myself before he regains his power..."
Lucius revealed his plan.
"I intended to hide the diary in the Weasleys' youngest daughter's textbook, but things didn't go according to plan..."
As Lucius spoke, his voice grew softer and softer, and a look of regret appeared on his face.
Upon hearing the words "purge non-pure-blood wizards," Dumbledore was instantly enraged.
The students of Hogwarts were incredibly precious to him, and any act that harmed them was unforgivable.
Lucius was so startled by Dumbledore's fierce reaction that he staggered backward, as if he were being intimidated by an invisible force.
"Headmaster, this has not yet happened, and Mr. Malfoy has already realized his mistake," Wes quickly interjected, trying to quell the sudden storm.
Although Lucius was still shaken, the power Dumbledore displayed made him feel somewhat at ease.
[This old man is over 100 years old and still so strong. Add to that the unfathomable Erwin, and they have a good chance of winning.]
However, when Dumbledore asked what methods the diary used to cleanse Hogwarts, Lucius knew nothing.
"He never truly trusted anyone, and I had no idea this was his Horcrux," Lucius said, sounding somewhat aggrieved.
"Perhaps we should ask our senior Tom directly," Wes said, opening his diary and reciting a spell.
Then, the fragment of Voldemort's soul, the image of 16-year-old Tom Riddle, appeared.
"Master..." Lucius instinctively bowed to Tom, preparing to kiss Tom's toes, when he suddenly remembered that he had already betrayed him, so he stopped and froze.
"What exactly do you want?" Tom didn't even glance at Lucius; his eyes were fixed on Dumbledore and Wes.
Lucius didn't dare to look up; his body trembled slightly, afraid that Tom would notice him.
"Why are you in such a hurry, senior? I just want to ask you some questions," Wes said calmly.
Tom's face was grim, his gaze sharp as a knife, fixed intently on Wes.
"It seems you're not planning to cooperate, but I have another idea."
Wes drew his wand and whispered the incantation: "Out of the body!" A Death Spell struck Tom with perfect accuracy.
Seeing Wes use the Imperius Curse, Dumbledore merely raised an eyebrow and said nothing more.
Lucius, however, instinctively distanced himself from Wes.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Tom struggled against the corruption of the Imperius Curse, but he was only one of Voldemort's soul fragments; how could he withstand Wes's curse?
Tom's will quickly crumbled.
"Tell me, how do you plan to clean up Hogwarts?"
Driven by the Imperius Curse, Tom reveals his plan without reservation—to eliminate non-pure-blood students by controlling the students to open the secret chamber and release the Basilisk.
He also confessed how he used the Basilisk to kill a girl years ago and framed Hagrid for it.
After learning the truth, Wes closed his diary, and Tom's image vanished.
"Principal, what do you think?" Wes asked.
As Dumbledore wiped his glasses, he murmured, "I never thought the legend was true. Slytherin really did leave behind a secret room, and Tom actually found it."
"The key is the Basilisk. This dangerous creature has been lurking in Hogwarts for nearly a thousand years. If it hadn't been trapped in the Chamber of Secrets, I'm afraid..."
Thinking of the basilisk rampaging through the school and killing students, Dumbledore was filled with murderous intent and took a book from the bookshelf.
"The basilisk is not easy to deal with, especially its eyes; anyone who makes eye contact with it will be killed."
"We can use the 'Eye Disease Curse'," Wes suggested.
"Good idea. The basilisk's tough skin has high magic resistance, so ordinary spells won't work on it." Dumbledore nodded in agreement.
"I think we can handle a basilisk with our strength," Wes said confidently.
"Are you going to take action yourself?" Dumbledore asked.
Wes nodded: "The basilisk is a treasure trove from head to toe."
The two quickly devised a plan to eliminate the basilisk and also planned to clear Hagrid of the charge of murder.
Lucius listened in stunned silence; he had originally thought they were dealing with goblins, not basilisks.
Weiss invited Lucius to come along, but Lucius shook his head and refused.
He had no intention of risking his life to deal with the basilisk.
"You don't need to lift a finger; you just need to be a quiet spectator."
"Seeing our strength for yourself will put your mind at ease, won't it?" Wes continued to persuade.
Ultimately, Lucius agreed.
