Chapter 456 Ambush, Backstab

"Okay, please come in."

Thor turned slightly to the side, extending his broad palm in a gesture of invitation. Although he tried his best to remain polite, a hint of vigilance remained hidden in his deep eyes.

After all, the sudden visit of Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme, was quite unexpected.

Although the Asgardians have a tradition of hospitality, as outsiders seeking refuge on this unfamiliar land, no one knows what the purpose of this key figure who protects the Earth is in coming here.

"Oh, the palace is nice."

Stephen walked steadily into the palace built by the Asgardians, his steps unhurried, his eyes scanning the surroundings like searchlights.

Although this palace is far less magnificent than the glorious buildings of Asgard in the past, and is much smaller in scale, every detail is handled with exquisite care, from the fine carvings on the walls to the mysterious runes on the beams.

Every element showcases Asgard's unique cultural heritage and style, as if a piece of Asgard's history has been condensed into this small space, carrying the Asgardians' deep affection and longing for their former homeland.

Before long, Wes, Frigga, Thor, Loki, Stephen, and Banner sat around a round table.

Let's get straight to the point.

Thor broke the silence first.

As he finished speaking, Thanos's phantom slowly appeared in the center of the round table.

His purple skin looked particularly eerie under the light and shadow, and his cold eyes seemed to see right through people's hearts.

Of all the people, Wes undoubtedly knew Thanos the best.

However, he chose to remain silent, simply sitting there quietly with his hands crossed over his chest, his slender fingers gently tapping his arms, his eyes attentively listening to the discussion.

The group quickly entered into a heated discussion.

Banner pushed up his glasses: "I think we can launch a surprise attack."

"No, that's too risky."

Thor frowned, rubbed his chin, and offered his opinion.

"Thanos's army is too powerful; we need a more comprehensive plan. Perhaps we could unite Earth's superheroes to form a powerful alliance."

His gaze swept across the crowd, trying to find approval in their eyes.

"We can also seek support from other cosmic forces," Frigga said softly, her voice gentle yet powerful. "There must be many other forces in the universe like us that refuse to submit to Thanos. As long as we unite, we will definitely be able to fight him."

However, Stephen Strange rejected all of these seemingly reasonable and promising solutions.

He sat there, leaning slightly forward, his hands clasped on the table, looking at everyone calmly and confidently: "According to my calculations, all these plans ultimately failed."

His tone left no room for doubt, as if he had stood at the end of time, taking in all possible outcomes and having every detail under his control.

"Who do you think you are?"

Loki could no longer contain his burning rage. He stood up abruptly and slammed his hand heavily on the table, making the teacups on it jump.

Why should we listen to the arrangements of an Earthling?

Asgard has a long history and great power, and is a significant entity in the universe. How could they allow a mere Earthling to command their actions?

"Because I am the Supreme Master."

Stephen did not back down; he straightened his back and looked back at Loki.

As the Sorcerer Supreme, he bears the heavy responsibility of protecting the Earth and the entire multiverse.

"Huh? I've never heard of that before."

Loki gave a disdainful sneer.

"That's because you're ignorant."

Stephen responded calmly, without the slightest hint of anger on his face.

Wes sat to the side, quietly observing all of this.

His keen intuition told him that something was wrong.

Strange has always been a proud and composed man, and his wisdom and strategy are well-known in the wizarding world.

But at this moment, his confrontational argument with Loki seemed somewhat childish and impulsive, which did not fit Wes's image of the Sorcerer Supreme.

Something's wrong!

A sudden surge of intense unease welled up in Wes's heart, and his brows furrowed tightly into a deep frown.

With his keen sense of magic, he detected a faint magical fluctuation, which was moving around him like a ghost.

He immediately focused his mind and tried to open a spatial passage.

However, the space seemed to be sealed by an invisible, solid wall, and no matter how hard he tried, he could not tear open even a crack.

Without saying a word, Wes crashed through the roof and flew into the sky.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

His movements were swift and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.

"???"

Thor and the others were stunned by his sudden action. Their faces were filled with surprise and confusion as they looked at each other, completely unaware of what had happened.

The group, who had just been engaged in a heated discussion, suddenly sat frozen in place, their minds blank.

Only Strange reacted quickly, spreading his cloak and giving chase.

"Thump!"

Wes's body, like a high-speed cannonball, crashed heavily into a transparent barrier, and the powerful rebound sent him flying back.

He tumbled several times in the air before barely managing to steady himself, a look of surprise and anger on his face.

The appearance of this barrier confirmed his suspicions; he had indeed fallen into a carefully laid trap.

This barrier, though seemingly invisible, was as solid as a rock and contained powerful magic, tightly binding them within it.

Without the slightest hesitation, Wes quickly took out the scepter.

He gripped the scepter tightly with both hands, channeling all his strength and pouring his divine power into it without reservation.

The scepter burst forth with dazzling light, accompanying his full-force strike.

The entire barrier trembled violently, and screams echoed from outside the barrier as energy surged.

The invisibility spell was broken, and the person who set up the barrier was revealed.

"An arcane mage?"

Wes narrowed his eyes, a hint of surprise flashing across them, followed by deep wariness.

Hundreds of Kamar-Taj sorcerers floated densely all around, dressed in their signature robes and holding magical implements.

The wizards surrounded Wes and his companions in a fan shape, each with a serious and wary expression on their face.

"What do you mean?" Wes turned around abruptly, his eyes blazing as he stared straight at Strange.

At this moment, Strange was floating in the air, surrounded by a faint golden magical light. His usually calm face now carried a complex expression, with worry, determination, and a hint of helplessness.

"In my predicted future, Wes, you will hand over the Infinity Stones to Thanos."
