Chapter 128 Ian

"It's already an extraordinary being?"

Philip squatted down, picked up Little White, looked him over from head to toe, and finally couldn't help but ask.

"Don't underestimate the 'Beast Tamer.' You should trust me more." The apothecary stood up, clapped his hands, and said, "If there are any problems that shouldn't be there, you can come to me. I'll most likely still be in Backlund for the next while."

So, you'll be leaving later?

Philip keenly sensed the hidden message in the other person's words, nodded slightly in response, then pulled his hood down and left the place under the escort of the waiter.

This time, Philip unusually circled the surrounding alleys twice. The little white dog in his arms raised its head, its blue eyes fixed on him, and called out softly:

Meow~

Ok?

Philip lowered his head, shifting his attention to it, and stroked its head. The latter tilted its head, closed its eyes, and silently enjoyed the moment, as peaceful as the night.

Extraordinary Pets

It should be able to talk, right?

Surely I can't have actually bought a fake. If I go to that pharmacist to return it, I can't exactly ask him to spit out the marrow crystal from the Fairy Spring to cancel the transaction. Tsk. Philip comforted himself, thinking that maybe the little guy hadn't adapted yet, didn't want to talk, or hadn't learned to speak human language.

As he thought this, Philip breathed a slight sigh of relief, then quickened his pace, leaving the alley completely and coming out onto the main street, heading towards his rented one-bedroom apartment in the bridge area.

To be honest, the cost of a round-trip horse-drawn carriage ride each time I go out is equivalent to a week's living expenses, which is a bit extravagant. I wish there were a better way to travel.

As he thought this, he sighed slightly, preparing to ask the "Hanged Man" or Sharon about his extraordinary abilities, before calming down and enjoying the long night.

Backlund's horse-drawn carriages usually don't start disappearing until after 11 or 12 at midnight, so Philip doesn't have to worry about not being able to hail one before then.

April 20, Thursday, morning.

Ring ring—!

The sound of the doorbell made Philip, who was sitting on the sofa, raise an eyebrow slightly. He exchanged a glance with Klein next to him, then stood up and walked silently upstairs to the bedroom.

After confirming that Philip had closed the door, Klein quietly put the newspaper away on the coffee table, then stood up and went to open the front door.

"Hello, who are you looking for?"

The visitor was a boy of about fifteen or sixteen, wearing an old coat that didn't suit his age and a bowler hat. His bright red eyes held an undisguised fear.

He had already taken a few steps back and turned halfway around, making Klein realize that if he had delayed for another ten seconds or so, the other party might have already left.

This shows that this guy doesn't have confidence in me, and doesn't even want to choose me, but he has no other choice. Klein subconsciously started to analyze it, but quickly brought his thoughts back to reality.

Forget it, rather than getting involved in some earth-shattering case like the protagonists in those fictional works, I'd rather believe that the boy in front of me is looking for Jane Charlotte, also known as Philip.

Maybe he's a fan of Sherlock Holmes?

However, how the other party obtained the address is quite intriguing. If that's the case, Klein can only semi-forcefully "invite" the other party into the house to inquire about the cause and effect.

The young man composed himself, then hesitantly asked, "Are you Sherlock Moriarty?"

Okay, they've come to see me.

"Yes." Klein breathed a sigh of relief, then perked up and looked around, saying, "Let's go inside and talk about it."

"OK."

Seemingly having prepared himself mentally, the young man's expression gradually calmed down. He did not refuse Klein's request, followed him into the house, and was led by the latter to the reception area, where he sat on the long sofa.

"What should I call you? Is there anything you'd like to ask me?"

Having already gained relevant experience, Klein asked skillfully.

"You can call me Ian." The young man looked around, paused for several seconds, and said, "I was previously employed by another detective, Mr. Zeryl Victor Lee, to help him gather information and intelligence."

Um, not familiar with it.

Klein sat down on the sofa as well, not inquiring about the other person's details, treating him as just an ordinary colleague. "So your request is related to your former employer?"

"Hmm." Ian nodded solemnly, about to say something more.

Just then, Philip, or rather Jane Charlotte, who had changed her clothes, came down from the second floor wearing a light blue dress.

Noticing the doubt in Ian's eyes, Klein introduced her: "Jane Charlotte, my landlady, or perhaps you are more familiar with her as the author of Sherlock Holmes."

The young man's eyes widened in surprise. "So, the protagonist of that novel, Sherlock Holmes, is based on you?"

"No, no, no, no!"

Klein's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately waved his hand in denial, even shaking his head twice. "I should say it's just a coincidence. I only met Miss Jane this month and started living here. I have no connection with Sherlock from the book."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"To be honest, I have no connection with Sherlock in the book. I was quite surprised at first, but I don't need to change my name because of this coincidence, so I'll just consider it a coincidence of fate."

"I see." Whether it was because he had more important matters to attend to, or because he was genuinely uninterested, Ian nodded and didn't elaborate further.

"A few days ago, I suddenly realized that I was being followed, followed with malicious intent, so I came up with a way to shake them off."

"I suspected that my experience was related to Mr. Zeril, so I went to visit him at his residence. I found that although the place seemed normal, many hidden mechanisms that indicated someone had broken in had been triggered."

"I haven't seen Mr. Zerre since that day. I suspect something happened to him, but the detectives I know say that Mr. Zerre recently appeared at a party of his colleagues."

"But when I tried to contact Mr. Zerrell using the agreed-upon method, I received no response whatsoever."

"Ah?" A slightly excited smile suddenly appeared on Philip's refined face. He patted Klein on the shoulder and then said, "Sounds good. It seems I can finally experience a slightly more normal case with you."

"."

After a few seconds of silence, Klein shook his head and smiled helplessly, "This is rather unusual. It's hard to imagine someone being able to perfectly impersonate another person right under the noses of a bunch of detectives."

Unless it's a "faceless man".

Philip responded in his mind.

There's one more chapter I owe, I'll definitely pay it back, probably tomorrow.
