Mystery: Starting from the Shadow World
Chapter 59 Jane Charlotte
Chapter 59 Jane Charlotte
Backlund.
under night.
The door to the Brave Ones Bar was pushed open, a sound that would normally be commonplace for all the patrons, but today it elicited complete silence.
A blonde girl in a brown coat walked in. The soft, delicate face accentuated by the knee-length coat successfully piqued the "interest" of these men who frequented bars and nightclubs.
The girl raised her hand slightly impatiently, wanting to tuck the hair that was resting on her neck behind her head again, but quickly sighed silently and gave up the action.
Soon, Philip, now in her female form, noticed the men's murderous gazes. To avoid trouble, she took out bullets and a revolver from her coat pocket and, under everyone's watchful eyes, successfully loaded the ammunition.
There was no misfire position left.
His calm and composed demeanor throughout, coupled with the fact that the guns and ammunition were unlikely to be fake, quickly dispelled the other drinkers' bad intentions. They all looked away with a touch of embarrassment and resumed drinking.
Seeing this, Philip didn't continue his reckless actions out of the good of the situation. He gave the burly man who was about to enter the room a reassuring gesture, unloaded the bullet, and put the pistol back into his pocket.
In the No. 2 billiard room.
Looking at the young woman in front of him who had given him the coded message, Kaspass showed no extra expression. He simply stared at the photo she handed him, frowning with some helplessness, and said, "This is a bit troublesome. Many of the identification documents don't match you."
"Do I need to pay extra?"
Philip asked very directly.
"No, no need." Kasperston was somewhat taken aback, but still shook his head. "I've been in Backlund for so many years, and this price was agreed upon in advance. It can't be changed at the last minute."
"Any other requests?"
Philip stroked his chin, considered for a few seconds, and then said, "Study at a grammar school, keep your background simple and normal, don't make any mistakes, the kind of background that even if the authorities want to investigate, they can't find anything. You can figure out the rest yourself."
"As for her name, Jane, Jane Charlotte."
"Hmm, no problem." Kaspass rubbed his bright red nose, and after a brief moment of thought, he suddenly remembered something and picked up a few banknotes that Philip had placed on the pool table.
"You'll probably need to wait about three hours."
Three hours... my current limit is four hours. Philip's lips twitched almost imperceptibly, then he concealed it as a faint smile, and nodded slightly.
"Okay, I'll make sure I'm here in three hours, but I need to go out for a walk and get some fresh air in between."
"There's not much to see here."
Kaspass took the money and turned around, giving her a serious look as he left. "Especially for a lady like you, drunkards driven by lust won't care about anything else. Even if you resist and hurt them, you'll get dragged into trouble for no reason."
"He's quite professional." Philip smiled from the bottom of his heart, realizing that he had underestimated this old man whom the original owner had once met by chance. The other man's kindness far surpassed that of these drunkards.
There's no room for negotiation except for the slightly higher fees.
"This is your identification."
Three hours later, Kaspass handed Philip a stack of papers and continued:
"We're fine dealing with the official investigation from Backlund right now, but if they send people to investigate on-site in the next few days, we'll be exposed. Don't worry, that's almost impossible unless you really cause a big problem."
"After a while, no one will be able to find anything wrong with this identity document."
Philip nodded, took the identification document, and carefully examined it under the light. This document had made him wait for three hours and cost him 55 pounds.
Jane Charlotte.
She comes from Wall, a remote town in East Chestershire. Her father died of illness shortly after her birth, so she was raised by her mother, a grammar school teacher.
A year ago, her mother died unexpectedly. After completing her studies at grammar school, she gave up the entrance exam for Backlund University. Only recently did she sell her last attachment in Wall—the townhouse she lived in—and come to this city of hope, Backlund.
With her identity document resolved, the next step is to find a place to live temporarily, and then, based on the persona on her identity document, try to find a job so she doesn't just sit around and do nothing.
Philip carefully put away his identification, assessing his tolerance for the "silver" color. After a moment's thought, he said, "Oh, right, that idiot who came yesterday forgot to ask. Where do bounty hunters usually get their commissions?"
"Or, do you have any connections?"
Kaspass, who had just thought Philip was about to leave and was about to find someone to play pool with, turned around, squinted at her for a few seconds, and his tone became somewhat deep, but he still gave her the address of another pub.
On Dalavi Street in the East District.
Inside the office of Blackthorn Security Company.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Klein looked at Dunn Smith sitting in the chair, took two deep breaths, and tried to keep his mind and body from being tested in the silent atmosphere.
Finally, Captain Dunn calmly asked, "Klein, are you sure?"
He tried his best to keep his tone the same as usual, but his serious eyes and unconsciously clenched hands still betrayed his true thoughts.
"Yes." Klein forced himself to speak clearly and logically, "On the day I became a 'diviner,' I saw old Neil's illusory eyes through my spiritual vision, but he brushed it off at the time by saying it was a 'symbol of ritual magic.'"
"But after what's happened these past few days, I have a feeling something's going to happen, so I went to 'Mechanical Heart' this morning to check." Klein's hands clenched involuntarily, and he said in a complicated tone:
"According to them, the owner of those illusory eyes is very likely the Hidden Sage. Moreover, divination also indicates that Old Neil's condition is not quite right."
boom!
Amid the clattering sound, Dunn abruptly stood up, politely donned his black trench coat and mid-length silk jacket from the nearby coat rack, then, with a stern face, bowed his head and ordered, "Get ready. Call Leonard later; we're going to Old Neil's house."
He led Klein, pushed open the door to his office, called Leonard who was still lying in the recreation room, and the three of them went outside. Driven by the coachman Caesar, they rode in a carriage and headed in a certain direction.
After Dunn briefly explained the situation, the last person in the car who could still maintain a smile was also taken aback. He opened his mouth, but ultimately chose to remain silent along with the other two.
In the silence, Dunn looked out the window at the sun approaching noon and calmly said, "Don't have too many wishful thinkings. Be prepared for unexpected events later."
"team leader."
Klein wanted to say something.
Dunn, however, raised his hand to stop the other party.
He closed his eyes, leaned back in his seat, and raised his hand to his forehead, not letting anyone see the expression on his face. "I've known him for fifteen years, fifteen years."
"I am ready."
"You all need to do well too."
