Mystery: Starting from the Shadow World
Chapter 64 Marich
Chapter 64 Marich
After the exchange of information and knowledge, and with Mr. Fool's signal, this tarot session ended as usual.
Back at the inn under the crimson light, Philip looked at the clock on the wall and roughly estimated the time it would take him to reach the Backlund Bridge area. Then he put on the "Silver" ring, transformed into Jane Charlotte, and left the inn.
These days, the cost of staying in hotels is not worthwhile, but her original plan was to upgrade to "werewolf" and then risk getting the property certificates for the two properties left by her parents, then find a way to sell them off safely, and then buy a new house.
After all, Backlund is not a small city like Tingen, where settling down is not a bad idea. And Jane Charlotte has no reason to give up her identity in the future, so renting a house is not a good option in this situation.
Iron Gate Street, Brave Ones Bar.
When Caspars met Philip, who had reverted to male form in the East End, his expression changed slightly as he was enjoying a card game. After carefully confirming the details, he reluctantly handed over £50 in cash.
"I've said before that I'm not omnipotent. Don't expect me to do this for free in the future. The willpower and risks involved are enough for me to ask for payment."
Philip didn't hesitate; he took a one-pound note from his wallet and handed it to the other man, saying, "Here you go."
Kaspass was somewhat surprised, seemingly not expecting Philip to be so agreeable. After taking the money, seeing that the other party hadn't left yet, he led him to the door and spoke in a low voice:
"Tell her not to worry about her. Is there anything else?"
"Parties," Philip asked directly, without hiding anything. "Besides the kind of parties held in this bar, do you have any other options?"
"You," Kaspass opened his mouth as if to say something, but the words seemed to be stuck in his throat. After a few seconds of hesitation and opening and closing his mouth, he finally responded.
"I don't know, but someone might know. I need to ask him for his opinion."
Philip nodded, watching the other person enter the tavern. He then leaned against the wall, looked up at the eerie red moon, silently letting out a sigh of relief, and murmured:
"Fortunately, there were no problems today."
He slowly withdrew his left hand from his pocket, looked at the burly man staring intently at the wine glass in his hand, and, with a slight smile, handed the glass to him.
"Take it if you don't mind."
"Sir, thank you!" Upon hearing this, the man's eyes lit up. He carefully took the wine glass with both hands, swallowed, and then his expression suddenly froze. He looked around and then quietly moved to a different position.
"I'll only drink this little bit, just a tiny bit, it won't cause any problems."
Ten minutes later, Kaspass returned to the door and pulled him into the bar. Near the kitchen, he knocked on the door of a card room. "It's me, Maric."
"Come in."
A cold, steady male voice came from inside.
After receiving permission, Philip followed Caspas, who pushed open the door, into the card room. But the moment he entered, his fingers trembled slightly when he saw the dozen or so pale-faced, fierce-looking men.
He forced a slightly strained smile, which didn't seem out of place under the circumstances, and subconsciously prepared to retreat to a safe position. However, the sound of Caspas closing the door behind him made him abandon the idea.
In the eerie, unsettling silence, the pale-faced man in the innermost part, dressed in a white shirt and black vest, stood up and stared at him with eyes that seemed to conceal a deep malice, saying:
"Are you an extraordinary being?"
Calm down, calm down. Even if it really is a "zombie," it shouldn't kill me for no reason. Philip's face showed just the right amount of fear, but he still nodded, "Yes."
The man named Marich looked him up and down, then said in a deep voice, "I can indeed get you into other parties, but you'll have to prove you're qualified. That party is in Queens."
Queens.
Philip pondered for a dozen seconds before he roughly understood what the other party meant: either have strength, or have financial resources, or have power or influence; in short, have an advantage that allows you to be presentable at that party.
Hmm. Not at the moment.
He pursed his lips, a sudden idea forming in his mind, but considering the other party's credibility, he ultimately said, "May I go back and think about it a little more?"
"what ever."
Maric went straight back to the poker table, ignoring Philip's reply, and casually started the next game with the dozen or so zombies around him.
Philip left the room and, seeing Casper approaching, suppressed his urge to intervene and led him elsewhere before complaining, "Why couldn't you have told me beforehand? I can't trust that guy at all!"
Don't judge a book by its cover.
Upon hearing Philip's complaint, Kaspass retorted very seriously, "Marich is stronger than anyone I know, and he's not even afraid of bullets, but even so, I've never seen him do anything bad to me or anyone else."
Not afraid of bullets.
It really is a living corpse.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Philip's eyelids twitched, and just as he was about to continue pondering what to ask, he suddenly froze. Seeing Kaspass's puzzled expression, he asked very seriously, "Are you sure that guy named Marich isn't afraid of bullets and never does anything evil?"
"Forehead"
Kaspers was speechless for a moment, touched his bulbous nose, and then shook his head helplessly, saying, "At least it has always been like this since I've known him."
In that case
Without saying much, Philip looked up at the clock on the wall behind the bar, then turned and walked to the card room. Without any hesitation, he pushed the door open and went inside.
The sound of the door opening quickly alerted the dozen or so figures inside. Maric, whose expression was already unsettling, frowned even more, his tone carrying a hint of danger, "You'd better have a reasonable explanation for this."
Philip deliberately remained motionless for two or three seconds. Seeing that Marich was still sitting there waiting, his suspicions were finally largely confirmed. So he closed the door and calmly found a chair to sit down.
"If I say I have a way to suppress a certain degree of pollution and loss of control, and to eliminate negative emotions, would that qualify me?"
pat.
Several playing cards immediately fell to the ground.
A dozen or so zombies stood up abruptly. Marich, his face pale, showed a hint of madness in his eyes, but still managed to speak in a low, restrained voice, "What do you mean?"
"Go on!"
