I am the son of the Dragon God in Douluo Continent.

The students in Shrek Square fell silent. Every single one of them wanted to be a core disciple! Only by securing a core disciple position could they receive preferential treatment from the academy's resources!

With their own interests at stake, all the students present waited intently for Du Weilun to announce the list, fearing their names might be missed. After all, it wasn't just the top three teams from the freshman assessment who would be selected as core disciples!

Du Weilun opened the folder in his hand and read aloud: "Based on the performance of the new students in the assessment, the core disciples who have been approved by the academy are: Xu Xingyu, Wang Dong, Xiao Xiao, Dai Huabin, Zhu Lu, Zhou Sichen, Cao Jinxuan, Lan Susu, Lan Luoluo, Ning Tian, and Wu Feng."

When the list of core disciples was announced, those who were not selected felt disappointed, but at the same time, they were puzzled as to why Xu Yanxue and Huo Yuhao were not on the list of core disciples.

The former is easier to explain. During the freshman assessment, Xu Yanxue applied for the Soul Guidance Department. In addition, Qian Duoduo approached Yan Shaozhe in advance and successfully made Xu Yanxue a core disciple of the Soul Guidance Department by agreeing not to choose Xu Xingyu.

Therefore, it is normal that Xu Yanxue will not be given the status of a core disciple of the Martial Soul system.

But what's going on with Huo Yuhao?

Although his soul power is not outstanding, only level 20, which is probably the lowest among the remaining students, his performance in the freshman assessment shows that he is undoubtedly an excellent control-type soul master.

Why wasn't such a talented person selected by the academy? Was it because of that outburst during the competition?

Among these students, Huo Yuhao was the most puzzled. He had heard from his sect leader, Tang Ya, that the top three team members would definitely be core disciples, or at least near-core disciples.

But Du Wei's next words made Huo Yuhao even more desperate.

Du Weilun continued, "Given that some freshmen, despite lacking in talent and ability, demonstrated outstanding performance in the freshman assessment, the academy has decided to grant them the status of core disciples temporarily until the end of this academic year. If they achieve a breakthrough in next year's promotion exam, they will be considered for formal core disciple status. The list is as follows: Jiang Haoyue, Cui Yajie, Huang Chutian, Long Xiangyue, and Nanmen Yun'er." That concludes the announcement.

How is this possible! Huo Yuhao accepted that he wasn't chosen as a core disciple because of the rampage incident, but he wasn't even given a position as a quasi-core disciple!

Huo Yuhao was completely stunned. In an instant, he felt as if something had been emptied out of his heart, and his face turned pale.

From the day he entered Shrek Academy, he devoted himself entirely to his studies, training relentlessly every day to improve. While others rested, he trained; while others slacked off, he continued training. After the freshman assessment began, he cooperated fully with his teammates, ultimately securing second place. But why, why wasn't he among the core disciples, or even the prospective core disciples? Why was this?

Huo Yuhao appeared calm on the surface, but he harbored a dark side unlike that of ordinary people. The darkness that had gradually accumulated since childhood nearly erupted when he saw Dai Huabin, but was eventually suppressed by his reason. Yet, at this moment, he felt he could no longer hold back. Why? Why did you do this to me?

At this moment, a seed of resentment towards Shrek Academy was planted in Huo Yuhao's heart, waiting for the opportunity to take root and sprout.

However, Huo Yuhao actually misunderstood Shrek Academy. There was a reason why he was not selected as a core disciple, which was that he was already a core disciple.

Simply put, his situation is actually very similar to Xu Yanxue's, that is, both of them have become core disciples of the Soul Guidance Department.

The difference is that Xu Yanxue applied for the Soul Guidance Department before the freshman assessment, while Huo Yuhao's application was completely made on the spot.

First of all, let me state in advance that when Huo Yuhao went berserk before, although his explanation successfully dismissed the teacher, many of the academy's higher-ups still felt that he should be expelled directly.

Because Huo Yuhao is a ticking time bomb. They already have a ticking time bomb like Ma Xiaotao. If Huo Yuhao comes along, they're afraid the academy won't be able to handle the chaos!

Especially for Huo Yuhao, there is a possibility that he will become an evil soul master, which makes those higher-ups feel even more resistant to him.

Back then, Tianmeng Ice Silkworm used its simulation ability to suppress the evil energy in the bead and made the evil energy that was spreading around Huo Yuhao also simulate ice elements.

However, some teachers with strong perception noticed something amiss. Although they didn't directly deduce that Huo Yuhao had evil attributes, they had already begun to have doubts.

The person who came to the rescue at this moment was Fan Yu from the Soul Guidance Department.

During this period, Fan Yu began to teach Huo Yuhao the most basic soul tool skills because of his ability to detect mental objects.

This new student assessment is the perfect opportunity for Fan Yu to determine whether Huo Yuhao is qualified to become his disciple.

Although Huo Yuhao's team may not have won the final victory, Fan Yu was very satisfied with Huo Yuhao's performance in the freshman assessment and had already begun to plan to take him as his disciple.

As a result, Huo Yuhao caused this kind of berserk situation during the finals.

Fortunately, he was not ultimately classified as an evil spirit master by the academy; he was simply given a second spirit that was not entirely under his control.

Such things are not uncommon in Shrek, but they do happen.

Therefore, accepting such a disciple is not a big problem. As long as they are properly guided in the future and taught to control their martial spirit, that will be fine.

Moreover, Huo Yuhao was a student pre-selected by their Soul Guidance Department, so one Spirit Eye Martial Soul was enough; the uncontrollable Martial Soul could be completely ignored.

However, just to be on the safe side, at his wife's urging, Fan Yu told Du Weilun in advance that Huo Yuhao was already a core disciple of their Soul Guidance Department.

Du Weilun would normally refuse such a direct attempt to poach talent, but considering Huo Yuhao's instability and the existence of a super genius like Xu Xingyu, it wouldn't be a problem to let Huo Yuhao join the Soul Guidance Department.

This time bomb can be dealt with by the Soul Guidance System instead of their Martial Soul System.

For this reason, Du Weilun stripped Huo Yuhao of his originally designated status as a potential core disciple and removed him from the list.

From now on, Huo Yuhao's education will be handled by their Soul Guidance Department, not their Martial Soul Department.

This is why Huo Yuhao failed to become a core disciple or quasi-core disciple of the Martial Soul system.

Unfortunately, Huo Yuhao can only find out the truth after the commendation ceremony ends. Right now, he can only lament the injustice of fate.
