Swallowing the Stars: Starting with the Battle of Geniuses

Chapter 29 Team Collision

Before long, Hunzhen, led by the field officer, arrived at the hideout of the second search team.

In the shadow of the towering, massive, strange rock radiating a strong magnetic field, a natural barrier is formed, which can both hinder the mental exploration of spiritual practitioners and serve as a natural cover.

The squad leader was a bald man with brown skin. When he saw Hunzhen arrive, he was about to ask a question, but Hunzhen waved his hand and pointed directly at him.

At his signal, they both looked towards a point several hundred meters away.

In reality, even if they make some loud noises, it will most likely not attract any attention.

On the wasteland hundreds of meters away, a group of buffalo-like creatures were clashing with a group of unfamiliar humans.

The loud noise was deafening.

The ground looked as if it had been bombarded by countless artillery shells, and was covered with cracks.

Amidst the swirling dust, the earth was stained a dark gray, and beneath the cracked surface, dark, hard rocks surged forth, along with red energy that gushed and splashed like magma.

This herd of water buffalo consists of twelve individuals, each of which is at least three or four meters tall and six or seven meters long.

The one that appears to be the leader, the most imposing of them, is four or five times the size of the others, resembling a small black mountain.

Most individuals are still hovering around the ephemeral star level, but the aura emanating from that giant water buffalo undoubtedly reached the cosmic level.

The bald, brown-haired man lowered his voice, his expression grave, and said, "Boss, the biggest one of them is definitely at the cosmic level!"

A hint of fear was faintly visible on his face.

For some time before, the "Treasure Hunting Alliance" had only encountered fire beasts at the constellation or planetary level, and had never seen a cosmic-level existence.

Hunzhen didn't say anything, and before entering the secret realm, those mercenaries said that this secret realm restricted them, as they were above the universe level, from entering. These guys had a preconceived notion and probably thought that there were only beings below the Hengxing level in this world.

In reality, outsiders are limited by cosmic-level restrictions, but this is not the case for the natives of the Infernal Realm.

In the simulation records, the simulated human encountered the strongest fire beast, which reached the fifth level of the cosmic level.

The simulated humans also suspected that there might be a real opportunity on the dominant fire beast, but after they finally joined forces with the alliance to kill it, they did not gain anything extra.

"Let's take a look first."

Hunzhen glanced at the group of humans in the distance: "These guys aren't as panicked as you are."

This human group consisted of more than twenty people, and on the surface, their overall strength was roughly equivalent to that of two small teams from their treasure-hunting alliance.

With such a small number of people, it's unclear whether the initial encounter with the buffalo herd was accidental or a deliberate hunt.

However, by the time their treasure-hunting alliance discovered the situation, the human group had already maintained a relatively stable situation, dividing their forces into two groups to create a pincer movement on the battlefield.

Each branch squad is further divided into two groups: martial artists at the front and mentalists at the rear, providing continuous ranged attacks.

At the same time, the warriors who take the most attacks are rotated regularly to ensure that everyone has a certain amount of time to recover.

The warriors were seriously injured, but none of them died in the end.

In addition, a man in gray armor roamed outside the two battlefields, occasionally supporting his own vulnerable points and launching sneak attacks on the weaker individuals of the Buffalo side.

Most importantly, he was constantly on guard against that first-tier buffalo leader of the cosmic level.

The two sides have clashed head-on more than once.

This gray-armored warrior was a level above the others in strength, but his absolute strength was still inferior to that of the buffalo leader.

However, thanks to his small size and high mobility, he was not completely helpless. On the contrary, he accomplished more than the water buffalo commander, providing support for the team.

Rescue? Or retreat immediately?

The brown-haired bald man's eyes seemed to be asking Hunzhen this question.

After all, it was clear that the human group couldn't hold out for much longer and was on the verge of collapse.

There's no need to kick someone when they're down anymore.

If we don't provide immediate assistance, this group will be completely wiped out.

If these people are wiped out, their retreat will most likely be discovered by the buffalo herd.

The brown-haired bald man thought to himself, and seeing that Hunzhen still didn't move, he couldn't help but get a little anxious.

Hunzhen noticed the bald man's anxiety. Instead of giving the order to retreat, he offered a riddle: "Don't rush, just wait... five more seconds will be enough."

Five seconds?

What the hell?

The bald man with brown hair looked puzzled, then turned his attention back to what was in front of him.

Suddenly, the gray-armored warrior was restrained by several star-level water buffaloes. The buffalo leader then unleashed its full power and charged towards him.

"He's going to die!"

Just as the brown-haired bald man exclaimed in his mind, the gray-armored warrior suddenly pulled out a laser gun from his spatial ring.

The latest novel is first published here!

The dazzling beam of light instantly pierced the head of the charging buffalo leader, and its entire spine was instantly vaporized.

The bald man with brown hair widened his eyes in surprise: "Restricted-level technological weapon!?"

As is well known, technological weapons that reach level C or above are called restricted-level technological weapons.

Restricted-class technological weapons are called restricted because if they were to leak out in large quantities, they would cause a major blow to the stability of space society.

The use of technological weapons does not depend on the user's level of life or level of understanding; anyone can use them.

A-level and B-level technological weapons are acceptable, since all space citizens are required to have planetary-level strength. The Eternal-level are the stronger ones among space citizens, analogous to ordinary people in our society being compared to those with high martial arts skills.

But the rulers of ordinary life-bearing planets only possess cosmic-level strength.

A weapon that an ordinary person can use can threaten the lives of management, so it is impossible for it not to be restricted.

Even with the strength of a cosmic-level powerhouse, it would take at least a star-level life form to successfully hit a single person wielding a weapon.

But if ten or a hundred guns are all positioned together, even a group of planetary-level guns would be enough to shoot down a cosmic-level gun.

Therefore, restricted-level weapons are firmly controlled by the five major super powers of humanity, with only a very small number ending up on the black market, and their prices far exceed their actual value. An ordinary C1-level laser gun would probably cost as much as a fourth-tier weapon.

The gray-armored man used himself as bait, seemingly trapping himself in the enemy's encirclement. In reality, this encirclement also restricted the buffalo leader's movements, luring him into unleashing his full power and creating a huge opening, ultimately allowing him to kill the leader with a single shot.

Having killed the buffalo leader, and with his strength far exceeding that of his peers, combined with his other companions, the outcome of this battle was no longer in doubt.

After a one-sided massacre.

"Friend, why not show yourself and have a chat?"

The gray-armored man suddenly turned his head, removed his mask, and looked in the direction of the huge, strange rock.

The team members all looked hesitant. Even without the brown-haired bald man saying it, they had all witnessed the power of the C-grade laser gun firsthand.

"Wait, leader—"

The brown-haired bald man's expression tightened, and he reached out as if to stop him but failed. Hunzhen, however, walked out calmly as if nothing had happened.

I recently reread the original text and have some questions about the part about crossing the Tongtian Bridge. I'd like to hear your understandings. Here are my questions:

The challenge of crossing the Heavenly Bridge is said to be a test of one's understanding of the laws. Logically, different Heavenly Bridges should be different, but it seems that all of them demonstrate a level of strength that surpasses that of the gatekeeper.

In the original work, when Bolan's teacher commented that Bolan's understanding of the laws of space reached level 9 when he reached level 6 of the Cosmic Bridge, but his understanding of the laws of time was still at level 3 or 4, then he could reach level 9 when he went to challenge the Cosmic Bridge of Space.

However, there are also cases of Luo Feng using the Fusion Law to overcome level 20 with the Beast God Weapon.

Is the Bridge to Heaven, which doesn't follow a single rule, special, and does it have a different testing method?

This part is really confusing, or did I miss something?
