American Gossip King

Chapter 33 Butterfly

Chapter 33 Butterfly

In the office, Ian tried hard to control his emotions.

His heart was filled with excitement, but his exterior remained calm and composed. He held the gun with both hands, his expression serene.

boom!

Catherine angrily slammed her hand on the table, taking several photos.

Her hands were very white and soft.

With its good looks, it's definitely worth a try.

Of course, firing a weapon is fine, but emotions can be set aside.

Realizing that his thoughts had gone astray, Ian looked away from her hand and at the photograph.

The photo shows a dark alleyway with a few drops of blood in it.

He asked, "What is this?"

Catherine said coldly, "This is the primary crime scene! Danny Koskerry wasn't held captive in the cabin; he was in an alley and then moved there. Someone heard the gunshots."

Ian frowned slightly.

Serious American police officers are indeed a hassle!

I need to find a way to resolve this—perhaps that Senator Brand can help me.

Catherine was still glaring at him angrily: "Your reporter saw it there, didn't he? He watched someone kill Danny Kosker! He took those photos of you."

"I like your explanation," Ian smiled.

Catherine glared at Ian: "Who exactly is that reporter?"

Ian thought for a moment and replied, "All I know is that his name is Butterfly."

"Butterfly?" Catherine asked, puzzled.

Ian smiled and said, "Yes, a butterfly. The butterfly effect—a gentle flap of wings can cause a huge storm. He's a very mysterious guy. He contacted me after getting the news and sold it to me. And my condition for agreeing to it was that I wouldn't ask about his identity."

As Ian chuckled, a thought popped into his head.

Butterfly!

That's settled then. It's impossible for us to report all the news ourselves; someone has to take the blame.

In the not-too-distant future, a legendary journalist will emerge as bright as a star.

Catherine glared angrily at Ian.

She knew Ian was talking nonsense, but she couldn't do anything about it.

The current Ian is not the same Ian Carl as before. He has a great reputation, and you can't arrest him arbitrarily without evidence.

This was a special warning from the bureau chief before we arrived.

Taking a deep breath, Catherine said, "You must hand him over to me!"

Ian waved casually: "Sorry, I don't know where he is either. He's as mysterious as a secret agent. He didn't tell me his identity at all. We have a cash-on-delivery relationship... It's not illegal."

He leaned closer to Catherine and said, "Why waste energy on things that already have answers? Every day, murders happen in this country, and the police have limited resources. Instead of being hostile, let's cooperate. Good journalists can help you with many things, like the Blazer case."

Catherine took a deep breath, which made her feel particularly unsettled.

Wow, it's so bouncy!

Ian's gaze slid downwards.

Uh no, my eyes aren't tearing up, but my nose is about to bleed.

Ian quickly withdrew his X-ray vision, feeling more and more that using it for this purpose was a huge waste and a form of self-torture.

She whispered angrily, "Your report has caused us a lot of trouble. The case is still unsolved, yet you've essentially given the public a predetermined answer."

Ian casually shrugged: "We just told them what we knew. The public has the right to know the truth."

"Enough!" Catherine slammed her hand on the table and roared, "What are you guys good for besides causing us trouble?"

You're even more elastic when you're excited!

You can see it even without X-ray vision.

Ian brazenly replied, "There will be many. We will no longer leave the public in a state of ignorance, we will reveal the world to them, we are the uncrowned kings, we will expose the truth, we will monitor everything... The media is the best supervisor of power, the cooperating enforcer of morality and law!"

Catherine resisted the urge to tear his mouth apart.

Seeing her angry expression, Ian chuckled softly.

He suddenly said, "How about sleeping with me?"

The topic of mutations took Catherine by surprise.

She was stunned: "What did you say?"

Ian looked at her beautiful face and laughed, "Cherish this opportunity. At least you still have a chance to have me now. I might be very busy in the future... I will soon go from pursuing girls to constantly rejecting them... This will be a very rapid evolution. By then, you might have to kneel at my feet and beg me before I'm willing to stab you."

"You damn bastard!" Catherine was furious. She grabbed the teacup and poured all the water in it on his face.

Tea dripped down Ian's face, but he just smiled happily.

The latest novel is first published here!

Catherine yelled, "Shut up, I'll never give you a chance! And you better pray MS13 doesn't bother you!"

Never before had she hated Ian Carl so much.

She got up angrily and strode out of Ian's office.

Ian walked out of the office and watched her leave.

Leaning against the office doorframe, he chuckled, "She's a hot chick, isn't she, Ron?"

The first seat in the lobby is for the editor-in-chief, which is very close to the office.

Lloyd, who was working, turned to look at him: "You like her?"

Ian shook his head: "No, chili peppers can be used as a condiment, but they're not suitable as a main dish. Real main dishes usually don't have much flavor, but you never get tired of them! I only asked her out because making her angry would help her make the wrong judgment... well, there was definitely a need. I've been eating the same thing all the time lately, and I'm getting a little tired of it."

Kate Beckinsale: You're already tired of it?

Lloyd was speechless at the word "offer".

He scoffed. "You're getting more and more knowledgeable, Ian. You can even use economic jargon to pick up girls."

Ian laughed heartily:

"Do you know why I like the media? Because the public only hears what you want them to hear. They're like your puppets; whatever you say, they listen to. The true value of the media has never been money, but its unparalleled influence... You can even decide who's president, or whether a war needs to be started."

If it can decide the fate of a president, what chance does it have over a mere hot girl?

Officer Brown, the reason you haven't fallen into my hands is simply because my mind is currently focused on my work... It's not advisable to waste too much energy chasing girls during this stage of career development.

With money and status, beautiful women will flock to you willingly and frantically!

He walked outside, saying, "I'm going out for a drink. I'll leave this to you."

Lloyd gave an OK sign.

………………

Leaving the newspaper office, Ian strolled casually down the street, simultaneously using his X-ray vision to observe all sides.

The dismemberment news is a typical example of violent and gory news. The key point is that this news has caused great controversy and brought a lot of "experience", with Ian's right eye improving rapidly.

This also made Ian's X-ray vision even stronger, and he became less prone to fatigue.

And so Ian leisurely enjoyed the various secrets hidden in every corner.

The bustling streets of Los Angeles are filled with dazzling lights and vibrant nightlife, but behind those high walls lie countless secrets.

In a small building not far away, a man and a woman were doing their business... They were lying on top of each other, and the one on top was doing push-ups.

Turning my head, I saw three people huddled together in another small building.

The one in the middle has a ponytail and is crawling like a dog, with one person standing on each side of the head and tail.

Scenes like this are commonplace; in Ian's eyes, the world is transparent!
