Chapter 6 On-site interviews

Chapter 6 Field Interviews (Part 2)

in the room.

Ian looked at the other person coldly, his tone as standard that of a reporter: "May I ask what brings you here?"

Jason Wilder clutched his chest wound and wept, "Charlie Mills of the Cripples' Gang kidnapped two men, saying they were going to sell them to us. One's named Kate Beckinsale, and I don't know the other. I was ordered to pick them up!"

"Any other business opportunities?"

"There was a producer who seemed to have some issues with us, and Charlie Mills was commissioned to do this job."

Ian frowned. "What is it?"

"I don't know, that was arranged by the boss."

Ugh!

Forget it then. Although there might be potential to delve deeper into this matter, it involves a gang leader... and I don't currently have the resources to do so.

Ian looked at him and asked, "Who hurt you?"

Jansenwald looked at him in astonishment.

Didn't you do this?

He murmured, "You..."

boom!

Another shot hit the ground. Ian said, "Wrong answer. Who wounded you?"

Jason Wilder finally realized: "I don't know... Oh, it might be Charlie Mills, that guy's trying to double-cross us!"

very good!

Ian smiled and asked, "What's your opinion on Charlie Mills' behavior?"

Fake!

What can I say?

The Black man looked at him speechlessly: "Could you call an ambulance for me?"

Ian smiled: "I'm a reporter. I only do interviews, nothing else."

You even shot at me!

Is this the kind of work a reporter would do?

Jason Wald replied in despair, "We abhor this behavior; it's against the rules of the trade."

So Ian smiled and said, "I understand how you feel, Mr. Wald. By the way, do you think it's possible that Miss Kate Beckinsale actually did this?"

"What did you say?" Jason Wald looked at him in astonishment.

Seeing the terror in Ian's eyes, he nodded repeatedly: "Possibly. Maybe Miss Kate Beckinsale killed him and then came back..."

Ian smiled and said, "So you see, this is actually how it happened. Charlie Mills killed the producer, then kidnapped Miss Kate Beckinsale, and then, for some reason, he might have come with Miss Kate Beckinsale and killed you all, since only they knew you were here, right?... Hmm, maybe it was the power of love?"

Jason Wald stared at Ian in disbelief.

What kind of ghost story are you making up?

Ian grinned, revealing a full set of white teeth. "Now let's do the interview again, just like before. Remember, you didn't see Miss Beckinsale shoot you with your own eyes. You only knew she was coming, and you thought Miss Beckinsale might have attacked you in conjunction with Charlie Mills. It's all your judgment!"

Jason Wald nodded helplessly.

Ian then asked the question again, and Jason Wald answered it again according to Ian's instructions.

After finishing the interview, Ian looked at the contents of his camera and nodded in satisfaction.

"Can we call an ambulance now? My injuries won't last much longer," Jason Wald said urgently.

Ian sighed softly, "What do dead people need an ambulance for?"

He stepped out of the frame and fired a shot at the light bulb above his head.

The house went dark.

Then came a piercing shout: "I'm Ian Carr, a reporter for the Los Angeles Herald... I can't see anything right now... There are gunmen shooting, a gunfight is happening... I have to get out of here..."

Bang bang bang!

Gunshots rang out continuously.

Report complete.

………………

Having resolved all that, Ian began cleaning up the scene, including disposing of Charlie Mills' gun.

He framed it as an assassination by a mysterious gunman, which would have helped him avoid being hunted down by MS, but he couldn't escape the police.

Putting everything else aside, the fact that Charlie Mills and the two gunmen in the house were killed by the same gun could have alerted them—unless Ian didn't release the video of himself killing Charlie Mills, which was impossible.

Firstly, he needed news, and secondly, Kate was a witness.

Besides, he's not a professional killer, and he might miss other clues.

On the other hand, the legal trouble is minimal—he was kidnapped and sold by Charlie Mills, so his counterattack is certainly legal. As for the villa incident, even if he knew he was responsible, Ian could explain it as "a gunfight in an attempt to rescue other possible kidnapped persons."

Isn't that what American movies do?

In addition, the United States is a place where money and public opinion speak, so underhanded tactics can solve the problem.

Therefore, from a legal perspective, this is not a serious matter.

The latest novel is first published here!

The serious problem is that MS13 cannot be informed of this.

In other words: MS doesn't have the ability to find the truth, the police do, but the police won't kill him, MS will.

So the key is to shut the police up first... and also, Kate's side doesn't have a unified story.

He walked out of the house while thinking about this.

Having confirmed that his plan was working properly, he left the area, went out onto the street, and hailed a taxi to go back home.

Ian went to the house of the deceased producer first; the poor couple were still lying dead—the police hadn't found them yet.

So Ian went back in to take another round of photos before returning to the nearby used Porsche.

His predecessor was a complete loser who nearly bankrupted his company, but at least he managed to keep a nice car for himself.

A used red Porsche 911, which cost $100,000 to buy, is in pretty good overall condition.

I got on the bus and headed home.

As night fell, the lights of Los Angeles were dim and intermittent.

Half of it is a bustling, prosperous paradise, while the other half is a chaotic, dark hell belonging to the underworld.

This journey is like traveling from hell to heaven.

Occasionally, you'll encounter street racers at night, roaring through the clouds.

Ian did it simply: he took out his gun, fired a shot into the sky, and all the trouble was gone.

Ian Carr's home is at 11 Elk Street, a typical middle-class residence. It's a detached house with two floors and a private lawn in front. The neighborhood is generally safe.

After returning to Elk Street, Ian parked the car in front of the house and went inside.

It was late, and my mother was already asleep.

Ian tiptoed up the stairs, the wooden staircase creaking.

Mrs. Carl's voice came from upstairs: "Ian, is that you?"

Ian stopped reluctantly: "Yes, Mom, I'm back."

"What were you doing?"

"Work, Mom!"

"I hope it's as you say," Mrs. Carl sighed, and said nothing more.

Having already been spotted from both sides, Ian simply strode upstairs.
