Battle Through the Heavens: The Beginning of the Dou Sheng Inheritance

Chapter 209 Dark Races and the Devouring Spirit Clan

Long Yan suddenly asked, "How many bolts of black demonic lightning are in the Thunder Clan's Demonic Lightning Pool?"

Lei Ying thought for a moment and said, "There are nearly a million black demon lightning bolts. After all, it is an opportunity left behind by the Thunder Emperor. It is much stronger than the Void Thunder Pool next to Ancient Dragon Island. Hundreds of new black demon lightning bolts are born in the Thunder Pool every day."

"We can try it after a while," Long Yan said. "I will use the energy of the demonic dragon and a part of its origin, along with hundreds of thousands of black demonic lightning bolts, to refine a Thunder Tribulation Pill. I should be able to refine it into a ninth-grade Xuan Pill. Then, I will refine it into a pill with nine drops of the essence blood of the Dragon Emperor of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan. The medicinal power should be stronger than that of an ordinary ninth-grade Xuan Pill."

The ninth-grade Xuan Dan requires the help of Black Demon Lightning to be born. At this level, the Spirit Ascension Secret Technique can no longer be used, so Long Yan plans to directly refine Zhu Kun's nine drops of essence blood into the pill.

Lei Ying couldn't help but shake his head and sigh, "It's useless. I absorbed too much black demonic lightning in the Demonic Lightning Pool. The Tribulation Pills made with black demonic lightning have no effect on me, unless they are made with Nine Profound Golden Lightning."

Long Yan couldn't help but touch the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon tattoo on his arm, but he would never allow Long Xiao to be used by Lei Ying to refine pills. This was a Seven-Star Dou Sheng who was absolutely loyal to him.

Long Yan said helplessly, "It was me who took it. Although my body has some resistance to the Black Demon Lightning, it is not very strong. The essence blood of nine drops of a late-stage Nine-Star Dou Sheng expert also contains enormous energy. After refining it into the Thunder Tribulation Pill, it might help me break through to the early stage of Seven-Star Dou Sheng."

"You were just talking about the Dragon Emperor of the Ancient Dragon Clan?"

Lei Ying suddenly realized what Long Yan had said earlier and asked, "The Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan is still in a state of division. After the previous Dragon Emperor disappeared, Ancient Dragon Island has remained divided. You didn't obtain the inheritance of the Yellow Spring Demon Saint, but you also obtained the essence blood of the Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan's Dragon Emperor, did you?"

Lei Ying's expression changed, and he asked, "You didn't enter the sealed land, did you?"

The Dou Qi Continent is a vast territory, home to countless races. In the north, there are the barbarian races, known for their immense strength and ability to merge with beast souls. In the south, there are various families of highly intelligent magical beasts, as well as the dark races, famous for their eerie and ruthless nature.

Deep in the south of the continent lies a sealed land where the legendary dark race of the Dou Qi Continent was sealed. The last dragon emperor of the Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan disappeared for ten thousand years, and many people believed that he died in the sealed land.

"The Sealed Land?" Long Yan had never heard of the Sealed Land, because it was difficult to enter. Ordinary people had no idea about it, and only experts above the Seven-Star Dou Sheng level could enter and knew about it.

"You don't know?" Lei Ying was taken aback and told Long Yan about the records of the sealed land.

"In ancient times, the Dou Qi Continent was filled with myriad races, including the Dou Di family. Legend has it that the ancient Dou Di all disappeared because they sealed away the powerful members of the dark races."

"Although the Dark Race still exists today, it is much weaker than before, with only a handful of them even reaching the level of a Battle Saint."

"I don't know much about the Sealed Land and the Dark Races, since I've never been to the Sealed Land. But you should know Gu Yuan. His great-grandfather went into the Sealed Land and never came out again. Although he wasn't as strong as Gu Yuan is now, he was still a powerful figure whose strength was no less than mine."

"Gu Yuan later entered the sealed land as well. Although he returned alive, he remained silent about what happened inside."

"The most famous of the dark races is the strange race called the Devouring Spirit Clan, but the Devouring Spirit Clan is just a relatively ordinary branch of the dark races, because they were not sealed away due to their weakness and rebellion against the dark races."

"Records state that the Devouring Spirit Clan was a strange race in ancient times that once stirred up countless bloody storms on the Dou Qi Continent."

Lei Ying said solemnly, "As we all know, the inheritance of ancient races relies on the power of bloodline. If the power of bloodline in a race is exhausted, then they will become no different from ordinary people. Generally speaking, every ancient race has a time when its bloodline is exhausted. Of course, the premise is that no Dou Di powerhouse has appeared in the race in the middle of this period."

"In the world, all sorts of wondrous things will be born, and the Devouring Spirit Clan is one of them. They possess an extremely terrifying ability: they can devour the bloodline power of other ancient races to prolong the time when their own race's bloodline is exhausted."

"Back then, in order to ensure the continuation of their race, the Devouring Spirit Clan set their sights on other ancient races. It was a catastrophe on the Dou Qi Continent, in which many ancient races were destroyed by the Devouring Spirit Clan, and their bloodline power was also seized by the Devouring Spirit Clan."

"The Devouring Spirit Clan's actions undoubtedly angered all the other ancient races. At that time, many races formed an alliance to jointly resist the Devouring Spirit Clan."

"That era was the era when the Devouring Spirit Clan reigned supreme. Their strength was far beyond that of any single race. However, although the Devouring Spirit Clan was powerful, they were ultimately no match for the combined forces of many ancient races."

"In the end, the Devouring Spirit Clan was destroyed, and the remaining Devouring Spirit Clan members fled in all directions, constantly being hunted down by everyone. After that, the Devouring Spirit Clan never recovered and eventually disappeared from the world, never to be mentioned again."

Long Yan frowned. Could this dark race be an extraterrestrial evil race? But thinking that Xiao Yan would break through to the Dou Di realm and the Five Emperors would leave, the sealed land probably wouldn't be too dangerous.

Lei Ying couldn't help but ask, "Where did you obtain the essence blood of the Ancient Dragon Emperor of the Primordial Void?"

Long Yan said quietly, "Outside the cave of Emperor Tuoshe."

"Tathagata!!!"

Lei Ying exclaimed in surprise, "You found that place?"

The latest novel is first published here!

"Hmm." Long Yan nodded and said, "Although we found the ancient emperor's cave, we can't enter it at all. The Dragon Emperor of the Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan is as strong as Gu Yuan and Hun Tiandi, all at the late stage of the Nine-Star Dou Sheng realm, possessing an Emperor-level soul."

"Furthermore, as a magical beast and the Dragon Emperor of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan, his physical body is incredibly powerful. Coupled with the Ancient Void Dragon's control over spatial power, the Dragon Emperor Zhukun of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan is probably the strongest being on the Dou Qi Continent."

"Even with such strength, I am still trapped by the power left behind by the ancient emperor Tuoshe and cannot open the ancient emperor's cave unless I can gather all the Tuoshe ancient emperor jade."

Long Yan chuckled and said, "But there's no need to worry about any of that. Once I'm able to refine the Thunder Emperor Profound Pill and the Fire Emperor Profound Pill, you'll all become Nine-Star Dou Sheng. When Xiao Jue's strength increases, and after I merge with Xiao Jue, along with the Dragon Emperor of the Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan, we won't have to fear the Soul Emperor and Gu Yuan anymore."

Lei Ying suddenly remembered something and asked, "Is Zi Yan from Canaan Academy the daughter of Zhu Kun, the Dragon Emperor of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan? Where is the Ancient Emperor's Cave?"

"Hmm." Long Yan nodded and truthfully told Lei Ying the location of the Ancient Emperor's Cave. Anyway, with Zhu Kun around and the inability to collect all the fragments of the Ancient Emperor's Jade, knowing the location of the Ancient Emperor's Cave was of little use.

"The underground magma world at the bottom of the Canaan Academy's Skyfire Refining Tower."
