Battle Through the Heavens: The Beginning of the Dou Sheng Inheritance

Chapter 3 Refining Pills

Arriving at the residence of Clan Chief Xiao Zhan, Xiao Jue knocked on the door. "Clan Chief, I am Xiao Jue."

"Come in."

"Creak!"

After Xiao Jue pushed open the door and entered, Xiao Zhan, who was sitting in a chair drinking tea, looked at him, frowned, and asked, "Xiao Jue, why did you dye your hair again?"

"This hair thing is a long story, so I'll leave it at that for now."

Xiao Jue said, "Clan leader, I have just obtained a high-level Xuan-rank wind attribute cultivation technique and fighting skill. It comes as a set, and I intend to offer it to the clan."

"Crack!" The teacup in Xiao Zhan's hand suddenly turned into a puff of powder. He stood up abruptly, staring in shock at the two scrolls in Xiao Jue's hand.

"Are you serious!?" Xiao Zhan asked excitedly, "Where did you get your cultivation techniques and fighting skills?"

Xiao Jue handed over the two scrolls in his hand and said with a smile, "Clan leader, these cultivation techniques and combat skills are definitely real. It's just that I'm a little short on cash lately and would like to ask for 10,000 gold coins."

"Ten thousand gold coins?" Flipping through the cultivation techniques and combat skills in his hand, Xiao Zhan raised an eyebrow and said, "This set of cultivation techniques and combat skills is worth at least several hundred thousand gold coins. Giving you ten thousand gold coins is a bit unfair."

"It's alright, 10,000 gold coins is enough." Xiao Jue didn't ask for more; it was enough for him to buy medicinal herbs.

Once he can refine pills, he can sell them to make money. The first grade pills he refines will definitely be sold in Xiao Family Market.

"Alright." Xiao Zhan nodded and patted Xiao Jue's shoulder solemnly. "I won't ask where these cultivation techniques and fighting skills came from if you don't want to tell me. The family will remember your contribution."

He took out two gold cards from his storage ring and handed them to Xiao Jue, saying, "Each of these two gold cards contains ten thousand gold coins. If it's not enough, come back to me."

"Okay." Xiao Jue nodded, took the gold card, and hurriedly left.

Watching Xiao Jue's hurried departure, Xiao Zhan muttered, "Was he taken as a disciple by a powerful figure? To be able to casually give away a high-level Xuan-rank cultivation technique or fighting skill, he must be a Dou Huang-level expert, but he shouldn't be one of the top ten experts in the Jia Ma Empire."

"It's a pity about Yan'er's talent... Otherwise, she would have become a disciple of some powerful figure by now."

Xiao Jue put the gold card back into his storage ring and left the Xiao family for the medicine shop in Wutan City. He did not hide his identity, and in Wutan City, he was unlikely to be targeted or attacked.

When the shop assistant saw Xiao Jue enter, he asked, "What kind of medicinal herbs do you need?"

"I want to buy some medicinal herbs." Xiao Jue handed over both gold cards. "I need fifty hemostatic herbs, fifty..."

He requested the ingredients for fifty portions of hemostatic pills and fifty portions of energy-accumulating pills, all of which were first-grade medicinal materials.

The ingredients for a first-grade elixir are also quite expensive. Most first-grade elixirs require four herbs, each costing fifty gold coins, so a single serving costs around two hundred gold coins.

The shop assistant was a little surprised and quickly said, "Please wait a moment, I'll go and call the boss over."

After he brought the boss over, an elderly man in yellow robes, he smiled and said, "Isn't this Young Master Xiao Jue of the Xiao family? What brings you to buy these medicinal herbs...?"

The old man in yellow was a major medicine merchant in Wutan City, owning several medicine shops.

Xiao Jue smiled and said, "Boss Wang, I recently took on a teacher who will teach me alchemy."

"Congratulations!" The old man in yellow said with a smile. "I will prepare the medicinal herbs for Young Master Xiao Jue immediately. Fifty doses of hemostatic pills and fifty doses of energy-building pills, costing 20,800 gold coins. I congratulate Young Master Xiao Jue in advance on becoming an alchemist, so I'll leave the 800 gold coins as a bonus."

Hemostatic pills and energy-accumulating pills are very common first-grade pills. Although the recipes are not widely circulated, most people know the medicinal materials needed to refine these two types of pills.

"Thank you very much, Boss Wang."

Soon after, the medicinal herbs were prepared. Xiao Jue left the gold card behind and put all the herbs into the Yin-Yang Ring.

Watching Xiao Jue leave, the old man in yellow, Boss Wang, couldn't help but click his tongue and say, "It seems that this dragon from across the river, the Xiao family, will not stay in Wutan City."

The Xiao family came to Wutan City more than ten years ago, but now that a genius like Xiao Jue has emerged, they may have a chance to return to the capital in the future.

Back home, Xiao Jue hung a sign on the door that read "Do Not Disturb," then went back to his room, took out the Yin-Yang Technique, which contained a high-level Xuan-rank manual, and began to cultivate the technique.

An hour later, Xiao Jue successfully switched to cultivating a high-level Xuan-rank technique. The quality of his Dou Qi became much more solid, and even his speed of absorbing Dou Qi increased.

After briefly testing the operating speed of the advanced Xuan-level cultivation technique, Xiao Jue took out the Yin-Yang Cauldron.

After absorbing the essence and blood of the Yin-Yang Saint, Xiao Jue felt that his strength and soul power had been enhanced. He was certain that he did not have wood-attribute battle qi, but with the Yin-Yang dual flames, he was also able to refine pills.

Xiao Jue poured the Yang Fire of the Yin-Yang Twin Flames into the Yin-Yang Cauldron, then threw in a hemostatic herb, which was instantly burned to nothingness, leaving not even ashes.

The latest novel is first published here!

Xiao Jue lowered the temperature of the flames and threw in another hemostatic herb. This time, the hemostatic herb survived a little longer in the flames and turned into ashes instead of being burned to nothingness.

"There aren't many temperatures left that are high."

Xiao Jue breathed a sigh of relief and continued to add hemostatic herbs to adjust the temperature. After persistently burning more than ten hemostatic herbs, he finally got the temperature of the yang fire to the point where the hemostatic herbs could adapt to the temperature.

The flame temperature must be just right, otherwise it will fail. But with practice, you'll gain experience and won't fail.

After tumbling in the flames for a while, the hemostatic herb finally began to gradually shed its outer layer. The juice contained in the leaves was also smoked into a little bit of pale white powder, and the essential medicinal power of the hemostatic herb was successfully extracted.

Different materials have different resistance to temperature, so to refine elixirs, one must learn to control the temperature of the flame at any point in the cauldron at will.

Where low temperatures are required, the flames must be suppressed; where high temperatures are required, the suppression must be lifted to increase the flame temperature.

Xiao Jue took out the powder from the hemostatic herb and put it into a jade bottle. He then added another herb to the Yin-Yang Cauldron and slightly increased the temperature of the flame.

Having learned from his previous failures, Xiao Jue was able to control the different temperatures of the flames, and this time he succeeded on his first try, extracting a medicinal liquid.

After taking out the medicinal liquid and placing it in a jade bottle, Xiao Jue then refined the remaining two portions of medicinal materials one by one. After failing several times, he succeeded in refining each one.

Looking at the four portions of medicinal essence in front of him, Xiao Jue first poured the white powder of the hemostatic herb and the liquid into the Yin-Yang Cauldron, controlling the temperature of the flame. The white powder was absorbed into the liquid. Then, he gradually poured in the remaining two portions of medicinal herbs, which gradually condensed into a pill.

"It seems my talent is still quite good." Xiao Jue laughed out loud, but his joy turned to sorrow. The temperature of the flames suddenly increased, burning the almost-finished hemostatic pill to ashes.
