Battle Through the Heavens: The Beginning of the Dou Sheng Inheritance

Chapter 48 Departure

The old apothecary said, "The energy of this accompanying amethyst source is far greater than I imagined. You only need to consume one-tenth of it; you cannot refine any more than that."

Xiao Jue took the jade bottle handed to him by the old apothecary and put it into his storage ring. Then he watched Xiao Yan swallow the companion amethyst source.

Even with only one-tenth of the accompanying amethyst source, Xiao Yan couldn't absorb it directly. Yao Lao used his soul power to help him refine the berserk factor inside before Xiao Yan could begin to absorb it.

Xiao Jue stared intently at them. Last time, Xiao Yan failed to evolve the Burning Technique after refining the Peach Blossom Flame, but this time he would definitely be able to evolve the Burning Technique to the middle level of the Yellow Rank.

However, the moment Xiao Yan's strength reached the level of a nine-star Dou Zhe, Yao Lao instantly suppressed the sub-fire within Xiao Yan's Dou Qi vortex.

"Let's leave it at that for now," said the old apothecary. "The energy of the accompanying amethyst source is indeed abundant, but the power it contains is too domineering. I have already refined it once, but if you allow the purple fire to enhance your strength, the vortex in your body will eventually be burst open."

"The reason why the Amethyst Winged Lion King can directly advance a whole level is because their physical bodies are strong and they don't have to worry about being devoured by the purple fire. But if you rely on the purple fire to advance to the Dou Shi level, you will probably be immediately devoured by the purple fire and turned into a pile of ashes."

The old doctor pondered for a moment and said, "Within this month, you need to stay in the Monster Mountain Range again and hunt more than five first-tier monsters every day. Only battle can make your restless fighting spirit as stable as before. Otherwise, when you encounter a strange fire in the future, you will not be qualified to devour it."

"One month later, you can take the Condensation Pill to break through to the Dou Shi level, and then use the Burning Technique to devour the Purple Flame."

"Xiao Jue, I'm entrusting Xiao Yan to you. I'll go and refine two seventh-grade pills for you." Yao Lao sighed and drifted away.

Besides the Seven Illusions Azure Spirit Pill, Yao Lao also needs to help Xiao Jue refine another seventh-grade pill, which Xiao Jue claims is related to the strange fire of the Tagor Desert.

Then there's the Blood Lotus Pill, the pill Xiao Yan would need to absorb the sub-flames of the Yin-Yang Twin Flames.

"Xiao Jue, do you have any movement techniques or fighting skills?" Xiao Yan rubbed his hands together and asked Xiao Jue, "Teach me two high-level Xuan-rank movement techniques."

"Do you think this is a treasure trove?" Xiao Jue was both amused and exasperated. He said, "Now that you have the Purple Cloud Wings, ordinary movement techniques won't be of much help to you. Before you break through to the Dou Ling realm, I can get you a low-level Earth-rank movement technique."

"Earth-rank!?" Xiao Yan immediately became excited and happily left the valley with Xiao Jue to hunt first-rank magical beasts in the Magical Beast Mountain Range to hone his skills.

……

A month later, Xiao Yan exhausted all his strength to kill the last first-tier magical beast. At Xiao Jue's request, he faced five first-tier magical beasts at the same time, while also carrying the Xuan Heavy Ruler on his back.

If it weren't for the hidden power of the Eight Extremes Collapse, which allows him to kill a first-tier magical beast with a single punch, Xiao Yan would probably have been torn to shreds by those magical beasts.

Panting, Xiao Yan sat down on the ground and said excitedly, "I've become so much stronger in the past month. At first, I couldn't even handle two first-tier magical beasts at the same time, but now I can actually kill five first-tier magical beasts."

"Master Yao has high expectations for you," Xiao Jue said. "In normal cultivation, he would never allow you to take pills or rare herbs to increase your strength. Even with the companion amethyst source, he would extract the sub-fire within it for you to consume."

"But you will be facing Nalan Yanran, so you must improve your strength as much as possible."

"Let's go."

Xiao Yan silently followed Xiao Jue, then suddenly frowned and asked, "Shouldn't we be going back to the small valley?"

"You can beat monsters, but can you beat humans?" Xiao Jue asked playfully. "There's a Wolf Head Mercenary Group in Qingshan Town. Their leader is a two-star Dou Shi. Only by destroying them will you be qualified to break through to become a Dou Shi."

Xiao Yan's eyes widened. "Are you crazy? I'm only a nine-star Dou Zhe, and I'm cultivating the low-level Yellow Rank Burning Technique. How could I possibly beat a Dou Shi?"

"Did you use the Xuanzhong Ruler behind your back? You should have already learned the low-level Earth-rank technique that Elder Yao taught you."

"The people who surrounded Little Fairy Doctor earlier were from the Wolf Head Mercenary Group. We can't just let them go like this."

……

Two days later, Xiao Yan wiped out the Wolf Head Mercenary Group through various means and returned to the small valley with Xiao Jue. During this time, he also received a high-level Xuan-rank fighting technique from Xiao Jue as a reward.

A sonic combat skill called Mad Lion's Roar was found in one of the three treasure chests in the cave that Little Fairy Doctor discovered. Xiao Jue obtained it after killing Mu Li.

Back in the valley, Xiao Yan took the Condensation Pill to break through to the Dou Shi level. Then, under the guidance of Yao Lao, he refined two-grade pills, the Pulse Protection Pill and the Ice Heart Pill, and successfully refined the Purple Flame after taking the pills.

His strength broke through to the two-star Dou Shi level, and as Xiao Jue and Yao Lao had predicted, the Burning Technique successfully evolved to the intermediate level of the Yellow Rank.

"I feel like I'm at least twice as strong as before."

Xiao Yan clenched his fist excitedly, while Yao Lao beside him said with a faint smile, "Don't be in such a hurry, your good days have just begun."

The latest novel is first published here!

"Now you two need to improve your alchemy skills, and then you can head to the Tagor Desert."

Xiao Jue said, "Master Yao, please guide Xiao Yan in alchemy first. Then, let him go directly to the Tagor Desert. I plan to go to Black Rock City first to conduct the alchemist assessment there. We will meet again in Stone Desert City then. My two cousins, Xiao Ding and Xiao Li, have established a mercenary group there."

"I'll also get you a copy of the Ice Spirit Cold Spring when the time comes."

"Very well." The old apothecary nodded, took out two wooden boxes and tossed them to Xiao Jue, saying, "These contain the Seven Illusions Azure Spirit Pill and the Heavenly Soul Blood Fusion Pill. We'll meet in Stone Desert City in two months."

"Cultivate diligently," Xiao Jue said, glancing at Xiao Yan with a playful expression. "Then you'll give your two cousins a little shock."

After Xiao Jue's dragon wings appeared on his back and he became a fourth-tier magical beast, he was still considered a juvenile Illusionary Fire Scorpion Dragon Beast, but his wingspan was already seven or eight meters.

Fluttering his wings, Xiao Jue left the small valley. Xiao Yan watched him go and couldn't help but ask, "Teacher, is Xiao Jue now able to fight against sixth-tier magical beasts?"

"You overestimated him, but you also underestimated him," Yao Lao sighed. "Xiao Jue's Yin-Yang Twin Flames are extremely powerful. He is currently a one-star Dou Ling, but when he used a Di-rank Dou Technique to ambush and instantly kill the Purple Crystal Winged Lion King while the Dou Huang was holding him back, he did so."

"But in a head-on fight, Xiao Jue would be no match for a Dou Huang. However, when he attacks from behind, only a Dou Zong could possibly stop Xiao Jue's Earth-rank Dou Technique."
