Battle Through the Heavens: The Beginning of the Dou Sheng Inheritance

Chapter 98 My Mentor Xiao Jue

Hu Qian, the vice dean of Canaan Academy, a dignified old man with white hair and beard, was circling around Xiao Jue with a look of astonishment on his face, unable to believe that there could be a seventeen-year-old seventh-grade alchemist in the world.

After delivering Xiao Jue, Wu Tianlang left, not to go to Peace Town, but to notify the others at Canaan Academy.

Canaan Academy may seem powerful, but apart from the two foundations left by the two deans, it only has the inner courtyard elder Su Qian, a two-star Dou Zong, three peak Dou Huang experts, and the rest are Dou Wang elders.

Among them, the three peak Douhuangs were Vice Dean Hu Qian in front of Xiao Jue and Wu Tianlang, the leader of the enforcement team, and Elder Huo from the Alchemy Department.

"Vice Dean." Xiao Jue felt a little embarrassed by his gaze. If she didn't know that Hu Qian had a pretty granddaughter, she would have suspected that this guy was gay.

He took out a jade bottle and handed it to Hu Qian, saying, "My disciples and clansmen are all at Canaan Academy, and I intend to serve as an elder here."

"No problem, no problem, Xiao Jue, you're too kind." Hu Qian pushed away the jade bottle Xiao Jue handed him and laughed loudly, "With your status, as a disciple of a giant in the Pill Tower, a seventh-grade alchemist, and a Dou Wang cultivation level, joining Canaan Academy is naturally no problem."

Xiao Jue said quietly, "The Breakthrough Pill."

Hu Qian asked in confusion, "What?"

"This contains the Breakthrough Pill."

"Thank you very much, Elder Xiao Jue. I have a granddaughter who is eighteen years old and beautiful. I wonder if Elder Xiao Jue is married...?"

"My beloved teacher!!!"

Suddenly, a shrill shout rang out, followed by an old man with white hair and beard, dressed in an alchemist's robe, rushing in.

"thump!"

He knelt directly in front of Xiao Jue, hugged his legs, and cried out, "Master, your disciple has finally waited for you! I beg you to accept me as your disciple!"

Xiao Jue was completely dumbfounded. Canaan Academy had all sorts of amazing talents!

Hu Qian's vision went black, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "Old man Huo, what's wrong with you?"

The person before me is Elder Huo of the Alchemy Department of Canaan Academy, one of the three peak Dou Huangs of Canaan Academy, and also a fifth-grade alchemist.

Elder Huo said sorrowfully, "Vice Dean, you have no idea of the pain in my heart. After the Dean killed Lin Mo, the Pill Master of the Black Corner Region, he dumped all his pill formulas on me. But without a master to guide me, I've been struggling for so many years before I became a fifth-grade alchemist. Now, with a seventh-grade alchemist by my side, I've become his disciple, and I can become a sixth-grade alchemist in less than a month!"

The old medicine master in the Bone Inflammation Ring laughed so hard he couldn't straighten his back. "That damned Pill Sect, it deserves to die for having such a name. What kind of class is that? It shares the same name as the Grand Elder of the Little Pill Tower."

"Ahem." Xiao Jue was a little embarrassed. He pulled his leg out and took a step back, saying, "I can give you pointers on alchemy, but don't mention becoming my apprentice again."

Elder Huo was overjoyed and knelt before Xiao Jue, kowtowing repeatedly. "My master is willing to guide me, even if I am only a disciple in name, he is still my master for life."

"Alright, get up already. Aren't you ashamed?" Another aged voice rang out, sounding exasperated. "You have the notes and all the pill formulas of a seventh-grade alchemist, and you're only a fifth-grade alchemist. If the dean comes back, he'll probably be so angry he'll die."

The old man was dressed in a black robe, with white beard and hair. His eyes were as cold as a knife, but when his gaze swept over Xiao Jue, they softened. He smiled and said, "You want to join Canaan Academy, of course, that's no problem. However, it's not really appropriate for a seventh-grade alchemist to serve as an ordinary elder."

Elder Huo hurriedly said, "My master can serve as the head of the Alchemy Department."

Xiao Jue's lips twitched involuntarily. He looked at the old man in black robes, cupped his hands, and said, "Elder."

"Why don't you become the honorary dean of Canaan Academy?" Su Qian chuckled and said, "When the dean first established Canaan Academy, he set up an inner academy and an outer academy. Later, when the dean left, Hu Qian became the vice dean and managed the outer academy, while I, the elder, manage the inner academy."

"With your rank of seventh-grade alchemist, only the departed dean of Canaan Academy holds a higher position than you. However, there aren't many positions at Canaan Academy worthy of you. What do you think about becoming the honorary dean of Canaan Academy?"

"Then thank you very much, Elder." Xiao Jue handed the jade bottle containing the Breakthrough Pill to Hu Qian and said to Su Qian, "My alchemy skills are already at the seventh rank. If anyone in Canaan Academy needs sixth-rank or seventh-rank pills, I can make them for you once you have prepared three sets of medicinal materials."

"Thank you, Dean." Su Qian also bowed to Xiao Jue. The status of a seventh-grade alchemist was noble, far above his own status as a two-star Dou Zong.

His cultivation had not broken through for many years, but if he had a seventh-grade pill, he could naturally make a rapid advancement.

In order to win over Xiao Jue, a seventeen-year-old seventh-grade alchemist, Su Qian directly placed Xiao Jue's status above his own, second only to Mang Qianchi, the dean of Canaan Academy.

I imagine the Dean would be very happy to know this, as this is a seventeen-year-old seventh-grade alchemist. Xiao Jue might very well become the future tower master of the Pill Tower, which has been vacant for many years.

Moreover, the Pill Gathering at the Pill Tower is still many years away. If Xiao Jue wins the Pill Gathering championship at that time, he will become the number one alchemist in the Central Plains.

The latest novel is first published here!

Hu Qian chuckled and said, "Then I thank the Dean for the Breakthrough Pill. I also have the ingredients for three Breakthrough Pills here. Rules cannot be broken, so please accept these ingredients."

"Alright." Xiao Jue nodded and accepted the medicinal herbs that Hu Qian gave him.

Elder Huo hurriedly asked, "When will my master have time to instruct me?"

Xiao Jue was somewhat helpless about the way Elder Huo was addressed, and said, "You should go back first. After the inner court selection competition ends in a few days, I will be refining pills in the inner court, and you can come and observe then."

"After I finish refining, you can directly refine sixth-grade pills. If you have any questions, I will guide you directly."

"Thank you so much, Master!" Elder Huo was overjoyed. He had been stuck at the peak of the fifth rank for many years, but now he finally had the opportunity to become a sixth-rank alchemist.

"I will go back first to prepare a gift for my master to formally become his disciple. Although my master has never truly had any disciples, he is willing to guide me to become a sixth-grade alchemist. For the rest of my life, my master will be my only teacher."

Watching Elder Huo leave in a hurry, Xiao Jue was both amused and exasperated. It was the first time he had ever seen someone so shameless. For a peak Dou Huang to be so brazen was quite an achievement.

Su Qian was somewhat helpless regarding Elder Huo's cultivation level, explaining, "Old Man Huo's alchemy skills have been stuck for many years, which is why he seems so... insane?"

"It's alright." Xiao Jue nodded and said, "Then please take me to the inner courtyard, Elder, to find a place where I usually stay."
