Chapter 108 The Dirty Business War

Chapter 108 The Dirty Business War

Zhang Ailun stayed in the apartment building until about 10 a.m. before saying goodbye to the two sisters from Dongwu.

Their performance was simply too amazing. Polina said she could do a backflip.

The leader of the sect went to inspect the place with a critical eye, but ended up falling into her trap.

In a fit of anger, he snapped.

After leaving the apartment complex, Zhang Ailun used his mobile phone to call a member of the Beggars' Sect to pick him up by car. However, after waiting by the roadside for a long time, the person finally arrived, but only brought him a bicycle.

"Where's the pickup truck? Why are there only bicycles?"

Zhang Ailun looked at the one-armed veteran who was delivering the car with some surprise. He still had a deep impression of him. He was tall and thin, and he vaguely remembered that his name was Richie and his rank was First Class Sergeant Major.

Among those veterans, he had the highest rank and a rather rugged and outstanding appearance.

Yang Guo of the West Coast.

"Boss, I'm sorry, the pickup truck was taken by a guy named Jason. He said he was going to inspect a shipment in a rural county town and had made arrangements with a grain merchant at a farm," one-armed Richie replied.

"Then he must have gone to buy sorghum seeds." Zhang Ailun thought about it for a moment and then stopped worrying about it.

If you don't have a car, riding a bicycle is a good alternative. It's good for your health and can reduce carbon emissions. If you find a good deal later, you can buy a bicycle.

"Thank you for your hard work, Richie. How are you going to get back?" Zhang Ailun asked.

"Don't worry about me, boss. I can walk back by myself. It's not far anyway, and it'll take me directly to our workplace. Sig said I'd be in charge of managing the disabled people, and it seems like a few new people are joining us at the abandoned construction site." Richie brought more good news.

"They went to check the can recycling machine early this morning. From now on, we can exchange the cans we collect in small batches for cash."

He then took out a black handbag and handed it to Zhang Ailun, saying, "This is from Sieg."

Zhang Ailun opened it and glanced at you; it was the cash from yesterday.

"Well done! I'll go check out the territory after I finish what I'm doing. You can go back now."

Zhang Ailun felt that there was nothing wrong with Sieg's arrangement. After saying goodbye to Richie, he rode his bicycle to Aitou Street.

I'm getting ready to go find Old Carl and collect his $1500 reward.

A dozen minutes later, we arrived at the scrap metal recycling station on Aitou Street. We parked the car on the side of the road and took a look. We found that the iron fence of the yard had been cut, and there was a big hole in it.

Even the old pickup truck that had been parked in the yard for years was cracked; the windows and rearview mirrors were smashed, and the tires were punctured.

Old Karl was yelling and screaming in anger as he bargained with several black men wearing red headscarves and black leather jackets, their pants dangling down their backsides.

"$2000! We might consider helping you get revenge, finding those who caused the trouble, and teaching them a lesson! Teams that dare to provoke trouble are definitely powerful and not to be trifled with."

The leader, Old Black, said loudly, "It might have been done by a small gang of young people from the neighborhood."

"Bullshit! Have you ever seen any gang members with nothing better to do than steal my junk? It was definitely some street scavenger team that did it!"

Old Karl immediately retorted, "Maybe it's those stinking rats living in the sewers, or maybe a Mexican bobtail dog. Only they would do something like giving birth to a son without an anus!"

"No matter who among them did it, $1500 isn't enough to get us to do your bidding. There are at least a dozen of them, and I need to get some decent weapons and be prepared before I go. Do you want me and my buddies to go there unarmed and get beaten up? Shit! I'm not going to fight those homeless guys in a free-for-all! They're professionals in that area."

Old Hei thought about it and realized that this was unreliable; he still had to draw his gun.

"If you won't do it, plenty of others will! I only contacted you because of my past relationship with your father. Otherwise, I could have called the police or found some white people on the street. Why would I go to all the way here to find a few black people like you to do my job?"

Old Karl grumbled angrily, "If word gets out, people will think that I, Old Karl, am doing worse and worse, that I have no connections and can't find anyone to help me!"

"Bullshit! Those cops won't care about your lost pile of trash. They can't even be bothered with freebies. Unless it happens right under their noses or is something that benefits them for a promotion or raise, they won't bother with you at all!"

"Also, don't mention my dad. He's been dead for years. I'm the boss of Moschino now! If you really had connections, you wouldn't be posting task lists on a job app in Los Angeles."

Old Black mercilessly mocked Old Carl, "The era of your generation is long gone. This is a new era. Do you still think you can just take ten dollars to the bar next door, find some down-on-his-luck drug addict, and get him to work for you? Have you been watching too many old movies? You have to pay people enough before they'll do anything for you! Otherwise, forget it!"

"We'll only help you when you come up with $2000! That's our bottom line. Goodbye!"

Several black men in leather jackets and red headscarves swaggered out of the yard.

"Get out of my way, kid!!" He glared at Zhang Ailun, got on his Harley, floored the gas pedal, spewed out two streams of nitrogen fire, and roared away.

Zhang Ailun watched the men in leather jackets and red headscarves leave, feeling bewildered, but he could tell that these black men were not ordinary people; they were probably real gang members.

I went into the yard and greeted old Karl.

Old Karl sat somewhat dejectedly on the dismantled wheel rim. When he saw Zhang Ailun come in, he wasn't interested in greeting him and just waved casually.

"As you can see, I've run into some trouble, so I'm not doing business today."

"I can see that. The cans and scrap have all been taken away. You must have offended someone," Zhang Ailun said with a calm smile.

"It's just a despicable and dirty street business war. I've seen this kind of thing many times. I'm just unlucky enough to get caught up in it again. Those damned police officers don't do anything and only know how to leech off the citizens."

Old Carl spat in annoyance, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag. "Sometimes I think that guy was right. It's not pleasant to hear, but I'm really not suited to stay on the streets anymore. I'm old, it's time to retire. It's time to go back to the farm and old house in the countryside, raise a few cows and a flock of chickens, and live a leisurely life every day."

"You'd better be talking about chicken," Zhang Ailun teased, knowing his personality and hobbies well.

"Hahaha, if I wanted to die faster, I could indeed take care of a few young and beautiful girls from the poor streets." Old Karl laughed heartily.
