Chapter 233 Trading
"I acted in self-defense! He threatened my life with a fire axe!" the Mexican man retorted. "Texas law allows me to do that!"
"Then why did you fire so many shots? Don't you know that this is threatening other people's lives and is illegal? You are disturbing the peace. Come with us to the police station for investigation. You will need to pay at least a $4000 fine and be detained for 7 days," the officer shouted.
"I only have Mexican pesos," the Mexican man replied.
"I can tell you're not a local; you must have swum across the river from the city on the other side. In that case, I'll charge you with illegal border crossing and smuggling. You'll need to post an additional $50000 bail to be released."
Faced with the police's arrest and charges, the Mexican man was driven to desperation, and he turned around and pulled out a gun from the car again.
"Fxxk you!" Seeing this, the officer quickly drew his Glock 17 from its holster and fired wildly at the man, retreating as he fired while simultaneously reporting over his radio: "Shooting! Shooting!! Requesting backup!!"
After receiving the notification from the police officers, a police car with its siren blaring soon drove up from another street, speeding around and hitting the private cars at the intersection who couldn't avoid it. The officers who got out of the car didn't say a word and just pulled out their guns and fired!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! The black Ford Mustang was riddled with bullets, and its tires were all blown out.
The white driver, who had initially escaped the Mexican gunshot without any problems, was also inexplicably shot several times and collapsed to the ground.
In an instant, both of them were carried away!
Clean and efficient.
The efficiency of the police and the investigation is astonishing!
But the passersby all seemed to take it all in stride.
If you can't solve the problem, then solve the person who caused it.
Seeing the enemy killed, the police officers began to maintain order at the scene, unfurling banners and reporting to the dispatch center that they had killed two criminals.
After investigation, it was found that the Mexican man was a young man who had lived in the area for more than half a year and had a history of selling imported goods from South America. The white man was a mental patient with bipolar disorder and a criminal who had just been released from prison a few days ago. The vehicle he was driving was also stolen.
Well, they've actually managed to carry out justice by sheer accident!
Why are you fighting in the street for no reason? You might not even die if you don't fight.
"Are all the people here like this?" Zhang Ailun watched the shooting at the intersection through the window.
It's also striking that in Los Angeles, police officers would never be so efficient and careless in handling cases. At the very least, when dealing with white people, they would have to consider adhering to the shooting protocol; otherwise, it wouldn't be an administrative leave, but rather being fired.
Where else can you find someone with a criminal record just by firing a shot?
No wonder they were so decisive in firing their guns.
"What else can we do?" Old Jack turned the steering wheel and left the neighborhood through another intersection, saying nonchalantly, "These people who climb over walls or swim over are all desperate criminals. Nobody can guarantee what they're up to or how many lives they have. Being a police officer here, to some extent, doesn't require adherence to the law. As long as we confirm they don't have American citizenship and pose a threat to society or ourselves, we can arrest and interrogate them, and even shoot them in court!"
After driving around Laredo for over two hours, getting familiar with the local environment and routes, and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the night city, we finally stopped at the Mexican restaurant.
As soon as I got out of the car, a scantily clad Latina woman waiting by the roadside approached me and greeted me warmly, "Hey! Gentlemen! Need any service?"
"Sorry, babies, we don't need that right now." Old Jack grinned, not refusing the enthusiasm of these beautiful women on the street, putting his arms around them.
I patted her pert buttocks; they were as bouncy as jelly. This elicited a series of coquettish whimpers from the children.
It has to be said that the Latina beauties here are of high quality, and each one has a hotter figure than the last.
This is paradise!
"Perhaps we'll have time to look after your business after we've finished our business. What's your name? Where do you live?" Old Jack began to probe for information.
"We're staying at the motel next door, room 209, sir. Here's my contact information. Remember to come find us!" The women waved goodbye and turned away reluctantly.
Old Jack chuckled as he saw them off, then his expression instantly changed, and he cursed under his breath, "Damn it, they're definitely up to some kind of sex scam."
"How did you know?" Zhang Ailun raised an eyebrow. "I can tell you're enjoying it."
"It's not like this is my first time here. I can tell what they're up to as soon as they bend over. I'm an old man, and I can tell they're from out of town. They're definitely trying to squeeze some money out of me," Old Jack scoffed.
"Many of the shady businesses here are run by owners. The fact that they can stand on the streets here means they have someone backing them up. Their usual trick is to lure outsiders into motels and set them up for a honey trap, extorting money from them. The better ones will actually do things with you, and then get you to smoke tobacco, cocoa, and buy the products they're promoting. The worst outcome is that they'll kidnap you and sell you to people in need, then take you across the border to Mexico on illegal ships. Nobody knows what will happen to you then."
Old Jack said, "Why wouldn't I take advantage of a free lunch? I'm not stupid. What's wrong with me pinching her for fun?"
"What's more, we've been under surveillance ever since we left the shopping street where the accident happened, just two hours ago!"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Ailun looked at Blitz, who immediately took out his phone to check and nodded, "There are indeed several identical cell phone signals that have been following us for several blocks. They're in the alley next door now."
"..."
Zhang Ailun also realized that he had really underestimated this old guy.
"Damn it, these local gangs are so rude. What are they trying to do by following us? I'm just driving a beat-up Highlander, do they think I'm rich?" The leader was getting annoyed.
"They must have informants at the airport who spotted our private jet, which is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars," Blitz replied. "Perhaps they have people at that car rental company."
"Find out what they do," Zhang Ailun said. Those guys had better not mess with the Grand Master.
Otherwise, the Grand Master wouldn't mind showing them what a powerful dragon crossing the river really looks like!
Blitz spent a few minutes quickly finding the information, pulled up the people's files, and said, "They're involved in human trafficking and cocoa trading, and they also run an unlicensed underground casino. Coincidentally, they're the sworn enemies of the informant we're trying to contact. Last week, their two groups clashed in the street."
"I have no interest in getting involved in their street fights," Zhang Ailun thought to himself. "As long as they don't provoke me, I won't provoke them either."
He immediately instructed Blitz to contact the Mexican man named Boro and inform him that he had arrived at his destination. He also inquired about the whereabouts of Boctu.
Boketu: We just filled up with gas at a small town airport and will arrive in an hour.
Zhang Ailun nodded; this speed was already quite good. He unloaded the goods from the car, led his men into the restaurant, and casually found a place to sit.
The buyer received Blitz's message and quickly arrived with his men. Five or six Mexicans pushed open the door and entered, led by a man with dyed gray hair, an earring, a skull pendant, and tattooed arms.
He glanced around and spotted the three people sitting in the corner. A smile immediately spread across his face, revealing a mouthful of gold teeth. "Hey! Guys! Which one of you is the robot?"
"That's me." Blitz nodded and asked, "You're the buyer, Borrow?"
"That's right, I am Boro! Welcome to Laredo! This is true paradise! You must be tired after traveling so far, right? No worries, I've already prepared a welcome feast for you!"
Boro laughed heartily: "It's not convenient to talk here, guys, let's go upstairs! There are private rooms, exciting entertainment, beautiful women, and fine wine!"
He waved his hand and immediately sent someone upstairs to lead the way. Zhang Ailun nodded, and Old Jack, carrying his bag, led the three of them up to the second floor.
Along the way, they encountered some menacing-looking fellows, but Old Jack remained calm and unconcerned, dismissing their attitude with disdain.
When Bo Luo saw that they weren't buying it and weren't pushovers, he immediately told his underlings to go play somewhere else.
"You've come all the way from Los Angeles to Laredo to do business, aren't you tired? Aren't there many gang-related businesses there too?" Boro asked tentatively as he led the way down the corridor.
"Don't even think about testing us, kid. I've seen more of life than you've ever walked a road! We're not the CIA. If we were, we would have taken care of your place long ago."
Old Jack said with dissatisfaction, "Any man should be more straightforward. It's just a small business deal of $40. If we hadn't accidentally acquired this small quantity of goods while on a business trip, we wouldn't even be doing business with you. Don't you even know what we do?"
"Sorry. I was being a bit sensitive. As you all know, there are many risks in this industry. Most of the time we have stable suppliers, but I recently got into a fight with some local rivals. They seized a batch of my goods, which ruined my business. My supplier is no longer willing to sell to me, so I have no choice but to source goods from external channels."
When Boro heard the old man's boastful tone, he immediately became a little unsure.
In this circle, the weak fear the strong, the strong are ruthless, and the ruthless are afraid of those who are reckless.
Someone who speaks with such a sharp tongue is either a reckless newcomer who's not afraid of death, or a real big shot with real power!
Old Jack had thinning hair, a hooked nose, and a sinister face. When he frowned, he exuded an aura of menace, looking like the kind of ruthless gangster who could scare people to death—a big shot in the industry!
Boro immediately waved for his underlings to find out who these guys were. So the robot they were communicating with online was just the second-in-command?
Boro led the group into a private room, a brightly lit VIP room where several scantily clad Latina beauties were already waiting.
He chuckled and took two bottles of Louis Masini XO from the wine cabinet, uncorked them, and filled glasses. "As long as this deal goes smoothly, I'd be happy to be friends with you. However, my business isn't very big. Having been in Laredo for so long, all I have is this restaurant and three blocks of territory. I wonder what you guys do?"
Old Jack took the glass, took a sip, frowned, and spat. "Buddy, this liquor is terrible! WTF, what is this taste like? It's like horse piss! Are you sure this is something for humans to drink?"
He smashed the wine glass, clearly dissatisfied.
Boro's lips twitched, and his hand holding the wine glass froze.
The henchman next to him was indignant and cursed in Spanish, then tried to pull out a pistol from his waist.
Old Jack grinned, unbuttoned his collar to reveal a ring of clay explosive wrapped around it, put his hand in his briefcase, and pulled out a Remington shotgun and a detonator.
Two clicks, the bullet was chambered. His eyes turned cold. "What do you want to do?"
Everyone present was startled.
Holy crap!! This guy!
Why are you strapping a ring of clay explosives around your neck when you go out?
Human bomb? You're practically wearing a white cloth over your head.
No wonder these three were so fearless!
Boro panicked instantly, stopped his impulsive henchman, and turned to yell, "What are you doing? This is a $400,000 deal, and this is how you treat our customers? Go and get the restaurant manager right now!!"
Upon hearing this, the younger brother immediately went out to call for help, and the restaurant manager rushed over.
I also feel confused. Wasn't this what you ordered?
As soon as he entered the door, Boro pointed at him and started cursing in Spanish.
The Grand Master didn't know exactly what was said, nor could he understand it, but it didn't seem to be anything good.
The manager, unable to hold back his anger after being scolded, turned pale and quickly apologized in a humble voice.
"Go and get my two bottles of Hennessy XO Blue Label, worth $9000 each," Boro said, his heart bleeding.
Zhang Ailun understood what was said in English.
That's it?
I thought it was some expensive drink. Turns out it's just an $8000 bottle? Do you think the leader has never drunk anything over $10,000?
Are you trying to fob me off like a beggar? Although I am one.
He's supposed to be someone who makes hundreds of thousands of dollars in business, how come he's living such a shabby life?
If you can't afford to entertain guests, is it because you feel it's unnecessary and you're planning to rip them off?
That's true. From the moment they entered the restaurant, the leader began to observe the situation and found that the restaurant's decor was average, its location was average, the surrounding streets didn't have much foot traffic, and it wasn't worth much.
His underling was carrying a piece of junk that cost less than $200 to import. After the serial number was ground off, it sold for $500 on the market. Who knows how many times it had been used? It probably wouldn't last more than a few magazines before it jammed.
Rifles and sniper rifles without serial numbers are unlikely to be readily available to them without proper channels; they are expensive but unavailable.
For those who hang out on the streets in the area, having a few dozen men under their command, each equipped with a handgun and possessing firepower, is already quite remarkable.
But for the head of the arms trade, it's pathetic! Truly pathetic!
If you can't even afford to equip your underlings with an AK or a micro-charger, then what are you doing here?
To survive in this world, you need connections, a background, AKs, drones, RPGs, and attack helicopters!
I thought he was a big shot, but he turned out to be just a country bumpkin, a little karaomi.
Zhang Ailun dropped all pretense, sat on the sofa, arms around both of them, legs crossed, with a Latina beauty sitting next to him, warmly welcoming him, and even dribbling the ball into someone's arms.
"Sir, your muscles are really well-developed." The two hot beauties exchanged lingering glances.
"Want to see? There will be plenty of opportunities for you to see later." Zhang Ailun smiled. He put his hand down and squeezed it hard twice, making the other person exclaim that they couldn't take it.
The manager quickly brought up the drinks. Boro hurriedly told someone to open the bottles, pour several glasses, and said with a smile, "This is good stuff! Hopefully, this will satisfy you!"
Old Jack tasted it, nodded, and reluctantly approved of it, his face expressionless. "It's so-so."
He felt a deep contempt for this country bumpkin from South America who had climbed over the wall. Serving guests such cheap drinks—that's all the petty person he's got, and that's all the future he'll ever have!
I really want to shoot your head off.
"Let's talk about a deal."
Old Jack didn't want to waste time with these bumpkins. After finishing his drinks, he put his bag on the table, unzipped it, and revealed silver bricks wrapped in plastic film inside.
"The quality of this batch of imported goods is quite good. How much are you planning to spend on purchasing them?"
"$35. How about it?" Boro had someone check it and confirmed that the material was genuine before tentatively asking.
Zhang Ailun suddenly burst into laughter.
