Chapter 321 Crocodile Killer
Chapter 321 Crocodile Killer
"Shhh."
Without turning his head, Old Jack lowered his voice, tied a knot in his belt, and cautiously approached.
Upon approaching, it suddenly accelerated and pounced on the crocodile the instant it raised its head, its hands like iron clamps, tightly gripping the pig dragon woman's neck and pressing it down.
He stepped on the crocodile's head, pulled hard, and used a leather strap to tightly pull its mouth shut. Then, like stringing grass carp together, he pulled it directly out of the mud, holding its neck upside down with its belly facing the sky.
The crocodile thrashed its limbs desperately, trying to roll to its death, but it couldn't do anything once its mouth was covered.
Old Jack didn't waste any words with it. He grabbed his shovel and, with practiced skill, seized the opportunity to whack it on the head more than a dozen times!
The sharp entrenching tool was like an axe, and it split the dog open and knocked it unconscious!
Old Jack casually tossed the unconscious crocodile onto the swamp bank, wiped the mud off his face, and grinned. "Not bad, it wasn't very big, easy to deal with. When I was fleeing with my buddies in the Northwest, we slept in the wilderness at night and had a lot of dealings with these guys. Sometimes when we were craving something, we'd hunt a couple to have a taste. It's been a long time since I've had any."
"..."
The leader was stunned to see the old bandit kill a young crocodile in no time.
He gave him a deep look and exclaimed, "You're a real tiger! You actually dared to make a move?"
What a fierce general!
The Grand Master underestimated you.
"If it were a fully grown crocodile, I definitely wouldn't dare to touch it," Old Jack said irritably. "After all, I'm not stupid. Even if I were to smash a crocodile that's several meters long, I couldn't kill it. As for this kind of young adult crocodile, any adult with a bit of skill can handle it. Now that we've dealt with it, we can explore the area in peace."
"Forget it. Go down yourself if you want." Zhang Ailun immediately abandoned his idea of playing in the mud. Who knows how many crocodiles are still here?
A wise man avoids dangerous situations, and the Grand Master has no interest in outsmarting a crocodile; it's too risky.
It would be better to just burn it down when the time comes!
"What a pity," Old Jack sighed, stepping out of the mud and washing his face in a nearby puddle. Seeing the crocodile slowly regain consciousness, he didn't say a word, but swung the shovel twice more, sending it to its demise.
They even started skinning people on the spot, and their technique was incredibly skilled! You can tell they've skinned people countless times before!
The leader was genuinely surprised that Old Jack possessed such wilderness survival skills. It just goes to show that as people age, they become more experienced and can pull out all sorts of skills from their inventory. It's just that his recoil control isn't great!
Old Jack quickly chopped the crocodile into pieces and put them in his pack, then belatedly asked, "Hunting shouldn't be illegal on this island, right?"
"How would I know? But it shouldn't be illegal. This isn't some kind of animal sanctuary," Zhang Ailun said.
After Old Jack finished collecting his spoils, the leader took a picture to remember the location, and the two of them turned and went to the next place.
It took some time to scout and take photos in more than a dozen places, including high-altitude areas and rocky beaches far from the tides. Some places were also restricted areas with warning signs and barbed wire fences, guarded by armed FARC guerrillas, citing the presence of large wild animals.
We have no idea where all those wild animals came from on this remote island.
Despite being a remote, reef-covered island with a history of at most two hundred years, it is home to so many mammals and oviparous animals.
Aside from some who were migrated here by humans, the others are very likely those who appeared unexpectedly due to natural disasters, such as unfortunate creatures blown in by tsunamis and hurricanes, or the one-in-a-million chance of cattle and horses falling from the sky.
There was a time when monsoon rains caused flooding in Nepal, and a young female one-horned rhinoceros was accidentally swept away by the floodwaters to India, completing a cross-border journey, and was found and taken home by locals.
But the leader was actually more concerned about whether the female one-horned rhinoceros had preserved her chastity.
Having finished their inspection of the island, Zhang Ailun decided to call it a day with Old Jack and head home.
We left the rainforest and came outside. From afar, we could see Bailey sitting on a sun lounger on the beach, sunbathing and drinking juice.
Upon hearing the Grand Master's call, Bailey turned around, saw the two of them, and immediately got up and rushed over.
"Boss, what happened to you guys? Did you fall into the swamp?" Bailey asked, looking at Old Jack's disheveled and muddy appearance with some curiosity.
"Go exchange these silver coins for cash, and then we'll get ready to leave," Zhang Ailun said, handing the silver coins to Bailey.
"Leaving already? I feel like I haven't had much fun yet." Bailey was a little reluctant to leave, and glanced at the beach volleyball activity not far away.
Zhang Ailun followed his gaze and, upon seeing a group of hot Latina women wearing bikinis or even nothing at all, immediately understood what kind of good thing he was thinking.
He said irritably, "You can stay if you want, no one's stopping you. We can go back on our own."
"Boss, without my private jet, you'd have to charter a plane to go back," Bailey said sullenly. "This island isn't all that great. It's only lively now. At night, there's nobody here. I don't want to be stuck in a shabby hut feeding mosquitoes."
He accepted the iron box containing the silver coins, as well as the black bag that Old Jack handed him.
"What's in here?" Bailey felt the weight in his hand and opened it with a puzzled look. When he saw the crocodile head and the body chopped into pieces, he was completely dumbfounded. "How come there's another crocodile here?"
Old Jack said with a forced smile, "It's nothing, we just happened to run into this guy in the rainforest swamp. He was unlucky to run into us."
"Well, it's really unlucky... I'll go exchange it for silver coins right now." Bailey swallowed hard, not daring to argue with this ruthless bandit, and scurried off.
Old Jack ran to the beach, dove in, and washed the mud off his body with seawater.
Zhang Ailun bought two coconuts from the Colombian guerrillas next to him. Each one cost $10. They really know how to do business!
I sat on a beach chair, put on sunglasses, drank coconut juice, and admired the Latina beauties playing volleyball.
When Old Jack returned from his swim, Zhang Ailun handed him the coconut. The two of them went to admire the beautiful scenery together; that was the only good thing about this island!
When Bailey finally exchanged the silver coins for cash and returned to hand the money over to the Grand Master, he only had a little over two hundred US dollars. This was enough to recoup the cost of the detection equipment. As for the entrance fee, that would have to wait until next time.
I paid you $2400 for the tickets today, but you can't charge me again next time I come.
This is called "even thieves have their code of honor".
Otherwise, the Grand Master would bombard Silver Island.
Back at the island's airport, Zhang Ailun asked Bailey to return the detection equipment. While waiting, he unexpectedly witnessed someone being harassed and arguing with someone.
A seemingly refined-looking young white man with black glasses got into an argument with the staff. His hands were restrained by the Colombian guerrillas, and the staff took a few silver coins from his pocket, saying, "Sir, we have regulations that silver coins dug on the island can only be recycled, not taken out!"
"These are the silver coins I brought with me, just to compare them with the Spanish silver coins unearthed on this island. Why are you trying to deduct from them? Besides, we didn't deliberately damage your detection equipment! It's your detectors that broke down due to their age."
The man started shouting loudly, which attracted the attention of many people.
"Sir, we'll let it go this time. You just need to reimburse us for the cost of the equipment."
Seeing that the argument had attracted the attention of many tourists and were worried about the island's reputation, the staff, after confirming that the Spanish silver coin belonged to the other party, chose to return it to them, only asking for compensation for the cost of the equipment.
"I don't have the money to pay you because your equipment is faulty. I brought my own equipment, but you won't let me use it. Are you worried that I'll find more silver coins and treasures, causing you to lose money? You're deceiving your customers!" the bespectacled man questioned and accused.
Seeing that the two sides were arguing endlessly, the guerrillas next to them were getting impatient and were staring at him menacingly. Zhang Ailun sighed and wondered if this guy was afraid of death. Did he think the weapon in his hand was a toy?
He immediately called for a halt, "Alright, we're in a hurry. How much did his equipment cost? I'll pay for it!"
"Sir, the cost of the damaged equipment is $500," the staff member said.
"OK".
Without saying a word, Zhang Ailun took out $500 and handed it to the other party, then returned the equipment. Because of the money, the staff became much more respectful and the situation improved significantly.
After all, the tourist island is a service industry, and he's not a Copenhagen guerrilla; he's just an ordinary employee.
"Thank you for getting me out of that predicament, but you don't actually need to pay compensation, sir. I can reason with them; they definitely won't dare to shoot," the man said gratefully.
Zhang Ailun was amused and solemnly advised him, "You don't need to argue with them, because you'll only hurt yourself. Don't you know what the FARC guerrillas do?"
Their main business in the last century was human trafficking, organ transplantation, drug trafficking, kidnapping, murder, and anti-government activities.
Things may be slightly better now, with the conflict with the Colombian government easing somewhat and many guerrillas being recruited into the government. However, things are not entirely good, as many guerrillas are still engaged in these activities.
If you push people too far over this little bit of money, they really won't tolerate you anymore.
"I'm a geologist and archaeologist. I've carefully studied the history of this island and the shipwreck that was looted by pirates. I believe that this island actually contains a large amount of silver and gold coins," the man said. "My friend and I came here to verify this fact, but we didn't expect them to not let us use the instruments we brought. I basically didn't gain anything, and when we tried to leave, they extorted money from us."
"Then I suggest you give up. You've seen their attitude. If there really were silver and gold coins here, they would have sealed off the island and made a fortune in secret long ago." Upon hearing that he was a fellow professional, the leader immediately advised him not to get involved in this mess.
The man nodded and said regretfully, "Then I'll have to wait until next time I have the chance to come back."
"Good luck, buddy."
After chatting for a couple more minutes, Zhang Ailun waved goodbye to him, turned around and walked to the tarmac, boarded the private jet with Old Jack, and fastened his seatbelt in the cabin.
Bailey adjusted the electronic equipment, started the plane, and sprinted off the airport runway into the sky.
Looking out the window at Silver Island gradually shrinking, Zhang Ailun took out his phone and took a picture. He then browsed through the photos he had taken on the island, selected the treasure locations, and saved them to his encrypted album.
I began to close my eyes and rest.
Two hours later, the private plane landed at an airport in Mexico, refueled, and then restarted, heading to Los Angeles.
Zhang Ailun also received messages from General Electric Boat and from Chibatu.
General Electric Boat: Hello Mr. Kim, the Spruance-class destroyer you ordered yesterday has been transported to the waters off Jehovah Island as you specified and will soon be docked in the harbor area. Are you on the island? If everything is correct, please pay the remaining balance of the order for this destroyer.
Zhang Ailun: I'm not on that private island right now, but I'll be back soon. You can send me the receiving account information, and I'll transfer the money after I confirm the details with my people.
General Electric Boat quickly provided the relevant account.
Zhang Ailun also glanced at the message sent by Qibatu.
Chibatu: Boss, General Electric Boat has delivered the destroyers. I've also recruited some reliable retired naval soldiers, and an old friend who can definitely train dependable personnel for you! When are you coming to meet them?
Zhang Ailun: I'm still in Mexico right now, and I'll be back soon. You can have someone check the condition of the destroyer, and send me a message after you confirm that everything is in order so I can settle the bill with the General Electric Boat company.
Qibatu: OK.
A while later, Qibatu sent another message, informing the chief destroyer that the confirmation was complete.
Zhang Ailun replied that he understood, and then, based on the account information provided by General Electric Boat, transferred the funds through the Hamburger Foundation. The recipient quickly received a notification of the funds arriving and sent their regards.
General Electric Boat: Hello Mr. Jin, we have received your transfer. Thank you for your support of General Electric Boat. If you still have any products you like, you can place an order in advance. We will give our loyal customers a great discount.
Zhang Ailun: It was a pleasure working together, and I believe there will be such an opportunity.
He put away his phone, told Bailey that he didn't need to go to Los Angeles, but should go directly to the private island, and sent him detailed location information before closing his eyes to rest.
Half an hour later, Bailey reminded him, "Boss, we've already flown over the Mexican mainland and are heading towards the boundary between the Gulf of California's territorial waters and Mexico's controlled waters."
"I know, call me when we get to Jehovah Island," Zhang Ailun said without even lifting his eyelids.
"Okay," Bailey nodded in reply.
Less than twenty minutes later, Bailey reminded him again, "Boss, we've arrived at the private island." He then exclaimed in surprise, "There are two huge warships down there! One on the north and one on the south!"
Zhang Ailun stretched. "Have we arrived yet?"
Through the window, I could also see the familiar shape of the island, as well as warships in the two bay ports to the north and south, a littoral combat ship, and a Spruance-class destroyer.
He immediately chewed a piece of gum to refresh himself and, incidentally, woke up old Jack next to him.
He instructed, "Then land at the eastern airfield and contact the control tower to tell them not to obstruct us."
"OK!" Bailey nodded, immediately turned the plane around, contacted the island's control tower to report the situation, and then swooped down, finally landing smoothly at the airport.
