Chapter 283 Smuggling Electrical Appliances
The German Shepherd suddenly became restless, sniffing intensely and nudging its head toward the tractor.
As Shen Xiaotong was speaking, she didn't notice that the rope in her hand had suddenly been broken.
"Black Tiger!"
The German Shepherd jumped directly onto the truck bed, sniffing everywhere. Shen Xiaotong was so angry she jumped up and down, chasing after it and pulling on its collar: "Black Tiger! Get down here!"
The German Shepherd wouldn't listen at all, licking the meat scraps and oil off the truck bed with its tongue.
The wild boar meat in the truck bed had long been sold out, leaving only a faint smell and scraps of meat.
But for dogs, that little bit of temptation is enough; once they smell it, they can't resist.
Chen Yongqiang jumped out of the truck, took out a piece of meat from his spatial storage, and threw it into the truck bed.
These are the leftover scraps, which were originally intended to be taken back to feed the Heavenly Wolf.
The German Shepherd snatched it in its mouth, crunching loudly, while Shen Xiaotong pulled it down forcefully: "You glutton..."
"It's nothing, dogs are all like that," Chen Yongqiang said, changing the subject.
Shen Xiaotong was a little embarrassed: "How much was that piece of meat... I'll pay you back."
"It's just a piece of meat, it's worthless. I'd just use it to feed my dog," Chen Yongqiang said, trying to change the subject.
The two chatted for a few more minutes. Shen Xiaotong asked Chen Yongqiang when he would take her hunting in the mountains.
"My Black Tiger is an excellent hunting dog..."
After finishing the meat, the German Shepherd jumped off the truck bed contentedly and obediently squatted back down at Shen Xiaotong's feet.
Chen Yongqiang explained, "It will take some time; my family is busy building a house right now!"
"Alright, I'm leaving now." Shen Xiaotong led the German Shepherd away first.
After the brief incident, Chen Yongqiang sat back down in the tractor seat and continued waiting for nightfall.
As darkness fell completely, the number of pedestrians on the road dwindled.
Chen Yongqiang sat up straight and looked at the watch on his wrist.
"It's almost eight o'clock, that's about it." He muttered to himself, then started the tractor and drove it towards the alley near the train station.
The county town was much quieter at night than during the day. Most of the shops along the street were closed, with only a few small restaurants still lit up.
There weren't many cars on the road, so he drove slowly, keeping an eye on his surroundings as he went.
Chen Yongqiang parked the tractor in the usual spot and saw several figures walking over from the other end of the alley.
Leading the way was Zhu Lingling, whose white trench coat stood out conspicuously in the night.
Two men, both dressed in dark clothes, followed behind her, pushing a flatbed cart.
Upon reaching him, Zhu Lingling stopped and looked at Chen Yongqiang. "I didn't expect you to be so punctual!"
"I'll definitely be on time for what we agreed on," Chen Yongqiang replied simply.
His gaze swept across the faces of the two henchmen; they were both unfamiliar.
Zhu Lingling gestured with her chin towards her two helpers. Without a word, the two climbed onto the tractor.
Zhu Lingling sat down next to Chen Yongqiang and said, "Drive forward."
Chen Yongqiang didn't ask any more questions. He shifted gears, released the brakes, and the tractor drove forward.
The alley was pitch black on both sides, with only a small patch of light shining from the car headlights.
Zhu Lingling sat beside her, her eyes fixed on the road ahead, and said nothing more.
Chen Yongqiang didn't ask where they were going and just kept driving. Because they were very close, he could smell the perfume on Zhu Lingling's body, a scent that rural women didn't have.
After driving for about ten minutes, Chen Yongqiang followed Zhu Lingling's directions, winding through several alleys, and finally stopped in front of a secluded warehouse.
"This is it," Zhu Lingling said.
Chen Yongqiang stopped the tractor. Before he could say anything, Zhu Lingling jumped off the tractor, walked to the iron gate, took out a bunch of keys from her pocket, and unlocked the gate.
She pushed open the door, turned around and waved to Chen Yongqiang: "Come in."
Chen Yongqiang slowly drove into the warehouse, which was filled with cardboard boxes.
Zhu Lingling waved to the two helpers in the truck bed. The two jumped down from the truck bed with practiced ease and unloaded the trolley to prepare for loading.
Chen Yongqiang got out of the car and was about to ask if he needed any help when Zhu Lingling turned around first: "Go and keep watch at the door. If anyone comes, just call out."
Chen Yongqiang immediately understood. This was to let him keep watch.
He turned and walked towards the warehouse door, muttering to himself, "These goods really can't be kept in the open..."
When he arrived at the door, it was pitch black and there was no sound at all. Chen Yongqiang knew he had been tricked, but he did not back down.
After waiting for more than twenty minutes, Chen Yongqiang finished his cigarette and lit another one.
Zhu Lingling's voice came from inside the warehouse: "Chen Yongqiang, it's ready."
Chen Yongqiang stubbed out his cigarette, turned around and walked back to the warehouse. There he saw that the tractor's trailer was full of cardboard boxes, tied tightly with rope.
The box was quite sturdy and sealed tightly, so you couldn't tell what was inside.
But judging from their size and weight, it's clear they're smuggled goods.
Zhu Lingling stood beside him, watching him inspect the items before speaking, "It's all installed. Thank you for your hard work."
"Where to send it?" Chen Yongqiang asked simply.
Zhu Lingling pointed in another direction in the county town: "There's a furniture factory in the north of the town. Someone will pick you up when you get there."
The two helpers stayed in the warehouse. Chen Yongqiang started the tractor, and Zhu Lingling climbed on and sat next to him. She pointed ahead and said, "Go forward, turn right after you exit the alley."
The tractor wound its way through the night, and Chen Yongqiang only knew that they were getting further and further away from the train station.
After driving for more than twenty minutes, we wound our way through a shantytown.
A faded wooden sign hangs at the entrance to the courtyard, with the words "Furniture Factory" written on it.
Zhu Lingling pointed: "This is it, drive in."
Chen Yongqiang drove the tractor into the yard. The yard was not small, and it was piled with some timber and semi-finished furniture.
As soon as the car came to a stop, people came out of the workers' shed to greet them. They were all dressed in dark clothes, and the one walking in front was a middle-aged man in his forties with a square face who looked quite steady.
He walked quickly to the tractor, nodded to Zhu Lingling, and was quite polite.
"Boss Zhu!"
Zhu Lingling jumped out of the car: "Move your things inside!"
The middle-aged man waved to the two young men behind him, and the two immediately climbed onto the truck bed and began to count the cardboard boxes.
The middle-aged man stood to the side and said a few words to Zhu Lingling in a low voice, which Chen Yongqiang could not hear.
He sat in the driver's seat, doing more and asking fewer questions—that was his rule for himself. For this kind of job, the less you know, the better.
After the middle-aged man finished speaking with Zhu Lingling, he turned around, smiled at Chen Yongqiang, and nodded as a greeting.
"Master, could you please back the tractor to the warehouse entrance over there?" He pointed towards the depths of the yard.
Chen Yongqiang didn't even need to help with unloading; the workers themselves climbed up and down the stairs and carried the cardboard boxes into the warehouse one by one.
I don't know if it's because I'm afraid he'll know too much, or for some other reason.
Zhu Lingling came out of the warehouse. "Go to that warehouse again later. Bring all the goods from there here."
Chen Yongqiang agreed: "Okay."
