Ye Wenxi and Lu Weidong both turned to look at Su Feng, their eyes filled with hostility.

Su Feng plopped down in a chair, propped his forehead with his hand, and laughed so hard his shoulders were shaking.

Su Feng finished laughing and slammed the bottle of wine down on the table with a thud.

"Why are you glaring at me? Can't I just invite you two to dinner?"

Su Feng raised his head, looking completely innocent.

"Then I'll treat her to a meal alone, I'd be happy to."

He turned to Lu Weidong, raising an eyebrow. "You're willing?"

"so..."

Ye Wenxi looked at Lu Weidong with some disbelief.

"You're having dinner with him tonight?"

"I don't want to eat anymore." Lu Weidong crossed his arms and looked sour.

Su Feng gestured with his chin towards Ye Wenxi:

"Please sit down. I'm right. Isn't this someone you know?"

Ye Wenxi rolled her eyes and glanced at Lu Weidong.

Should she explain, or not?

Explaining this isn't in her nature; but not explaining... it seems like something really is going on.

Actually, no explanation is needed.

From the moment she entered the room and started glaring at Su Feng, Lu Weidong guessed that this scoundrel must have used some kind of talk to lure Ye Wenxi in.

Just to make myself angry.

Su Feng called out to the waiter to bring the food.

Then he took two glasses and filled them with wine for him and Lu Weidong.

They didn't pour any for Ye Wenxi.

"Today's main event is for your spouse, so you're kindly invited."

He raised his glass and drank it all in one gulp.

The wine glass was placed heavily on the table.

Then he quickly stood up, and the chair creaked as it was pushed back.

"I'm leaving. I've paid the money, you two enjoy your meal."

He then walked towards the door, and as he passed Ye Wenxi, he patted the back of her chair.

"Huh?" Ye Wenxi stared at the scene with a bewildered expression.

Su Feng walked straight to the door, opened it, and left without looking back.

Lu Weidong watched his departing figure, one hand resting on the table.

Tap, tap, tap, the knuckles tapped against the glass.

Ye Wenxi leaned closer: "Don't you have anything you want to say to me?"

"What are you talking about? About him?" Lu Weidong turned his head and looked up to ask.

"What's going on between you two?" Ye Wenxi asked, arms crossed and brows furrowed.

"Why is he thanking you? Wait... what are you two 'knowing' about? I have no idea."

"He...you..."

Ye Wenxi had a head full of questions.

Lu Weidong sighed.

"Did you hear that Su Changqing is under investigation?" Lu Weidong suddenly said.

Ye Wenxi nodded and told him the news that Lu Zhenghua had told him at home that day.

"The news of this matter reached the exercise command almost the instant the investigation team took action."

Ye Wenxi didn't speak, but listened attentively to what he was saying.

"At the time, before the exercise began, the commander-in-chief told me that Su Feng might be suspended from command."

"Do you know why he's so competitive with me?" Lu Weidong suddenly asked.
