Legendary Knights Starting with Oz

Chapter 9 Devouring Monster

"Who are you?"

Night Rider reached for the hilt of his sword at his waist.

"I never said I was human."

Reggie shrugged.

"Huh? No, not human?"

Shinji was instantly startled.

"Of course, but I'm not one of those monsters. I'm an unplanned entity, a variable."

"Back to the point, Beigang, our deal is simple. I'll give you what you want, but in return, I need a place to live where you won't have to worry about food, clothing, or shelter. How about it, lawyer?"

"What I want?"

Bei Gang paused for a moment, then slung the gun back over his waist: "Do you know what I want?"

"Of course, as I said, I'm not human, so I don't know what others want, but I can see your problem."

Upon hearing this, Beigang remained silent for a moment, then turned around and said, "Then come with me."

"Hey, Beigang, watch out! This guy's a mystery, and more importantly, he's not human."

Shinji immediately stepped forward to remind him.

"I know, but at least for now, he doesn't seem to have any ill intentions towards us."

After saying that, he left the Mirror World first, followed closely by Shinji and Ren. Reggie watched this scene with great interest and also went out with them.

"Since we're going to make a deal, at least let us know your name, okay?"

Back in the real world, Beigang had already deactivated his transformation and was waiting for him outside.

"Of course, my name is Legend."

"Legend? Does that mean it's a legend?"

"Um."

"What an ambitious name."

Shinji couldn't help but say.

"Go away, you hot-blooded idiot."

Shinji:?

"Hey, you bastard, you really are an evil guy, aren't you?"

Shinji seemed to be very sensitive to the word "idiot" and immediately started arguing.

"Well then, let's go. I'm also very curious about what kind of deal you're talking about."

Watching Legend and Kitaoka leave by car, Shinji and Ren prepared to follow.

They were also very curious about Regedo's origins.

"Tell me, do you know what I need?"

Upon arriving at the lawyer's large villa, Goro went to prepare tea and snacks, while Kitaoka also sat down to rest.

"To cure illness, isn't it?"

Lei Jie observed the villa in Beigang and thought to himself, "No wonder he's a lawyer, he's really rich!"

Do you know what illness I have?

"I know, but it doesn't matter what the illness is to me. It's just that my treatment method is a bit hard for you to imagine."

"Because my treatment methods are somewhat cruel."

Regedo sat on the sofa, watching Goro place the brewed tea on the coffee table.

"Cruel? What do you mean?"

"The essence of alchemy is equivalent exchange!"

"Reggie said with a smile."

"Alchemy? Equivalent exchange?"

Upon hearing these mysterious words, Beigang looked at Lei Jieduo with a strange expression.

"Your illness is terminal and incurable. However, I can prolong your life by transferring your illness to others when it reaches a certain stage, thereby continuously extending your life. In other words, your life depends on the deaths of others."

"A life for a life?"

Bei Gang's expression turned serious.

"That's exactly why I said it's somewhat cruel."

Lei Jie took another sip of tea, but it still tasted bland.

"Whose life was used to exchange for mine in this life-for-life exchange?"

Beigang was silent for a moment before asking.

"Who knows? It depends on your own desires."

"My desires?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Lei Jieduo tossed a coin into Beigang's forehead.

Then, a juvenile Devourer that had not yet fully evolved crawled out of his body.

"What is this?"

Beigang was startled by this bizarre scene.

"This is a monster of desire created from your desires. It will satisfy your desires, which means extending your life. As for whose life it will replace yours with, that depends on your own desires."

"If your only desire is to live, then it will randomly pick the lucky ones."

Reggie leaned back on the sofa, looking at the incredibly stiff Devouring Monster larva and said.

"Absolutely not! If we're going to trade lives for lives, then let's use the lives of those most heinous criminals."

Beigang immediately said.

Upon hearing this, the juvenile Devouring Monster staggered from the mirror of the North Hill family into the Mirror World, and moved towards the prison within the Mirror World.

"It...it can also enter the Mirror World?"

"Is it that strange? It's a Devouring Monster I created, so it naturally has some of my abilities. Besides, you wouldn't want to see such a wobbly monster on the street, would you?"

"That's true."

Bei Gang nodded.

Soon after, Shinji and Ren also arrived. They looked at Legend, who was sitting on the sofa talking to Kitaoka, and exchanged bewildered glances.

"Hey, we meet again, you two, No-Brainer and Grumpy."

Shinji:?

lotus:?

Just as the two were about to unleash their power, the Devouring Monster staggered back, crawled out of the mirror, and held a bright purple feather in its hand.

Upon seeing this monster emerge from the mirror, Shinji and Ren reacted instinctively and were about to transform when they were interrupted by Legend.

"Don't worry, this is a doctor from Beigang."

Regedo chuckled wickedly, then watched as the Devouring Monster approached Beigang and stuck a feather into his chest.

Soon, Beigang felt a strange sensation flowing into his body.

Meanwhile, in a prison cell, an unknown death row inmate developed purple feathers that emitted a strange light.

"You should go check it out; you'll definitely be pleasantly surprised."

Without saying a word, Kitaoka immediately left home and went to the hospital with Goro.

Shinji and Ren quickly followed.

Regedo sat in his home in Beigang, looking at the Devouring Monster beside him, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.

"Haven't evolved yet?"

"It seems like one person isn't enough."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the Devouring Monster set off again. When Beigang returned, full of joy, he saw that the Devouring Monster had changed drastically and had some bird-like features.

At the same time, it had a few more feathers in its hand, which sank into Beigang's chest.

"Using the lives of thirty death row inmates to give you an extra thirty years of life, isn't that a good deal?"

Lei Jie said, eating an ice pop he had taken from Bei Gang's refrigerator.

"It's definitely a good deal, but can thirty people really exchange for thirty years?"

Beigang asked curiously.

"You only had about a year to live to begin with. Extending your life is essentially maintaining a non-existent life to keep it going. This kind of consumption is not a simple matter of replacing one with another."

Those death row inmates were supposed to die anyway, they're just being executed sooner, it doesn't affect anything. But you, someone who was supposed to die, will live so much longer in the future, naturally the cost will be huge.

"Anyway, our deal is done. Remember to prepare a house for me."

Regedo got up and went to the mature Devouring Monster, reached out and poked it. Instantly, the Devouring Monster turned into a large pool of cell coins and fell to the ground with a jingling sound.

These cellular coins were then completely absorbed into his body, and Reggie felt a sense of fullness for the first time in a long time, letting out a satisfied burp.
